“Angela was so amazing! She stayed with Murphy & was super attentive with walking and hanging out with him! She was on time & very communicative! She was so kind & respectful of our home, I felt so comfortable with her! Not only did Murphy love her, but I did as well! Highly recommend & we will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Adam took great care of Nikita while I was away 😊 She was happy and well looked after when I got back. He kept me updated with check-ins and photos, and overall I really appreciate his help!”

About: I had my first pet at 9, it was a cat that I loved deeply. Since then I have always had at least 2 animals in my care. I take care of my dads three dogs and two parakeets when he goes out of town. I also watched a variety of pets for neighbors all the time growing up. I have been in charge of feeding schedules, medicine administration, and more. Every day is a little different but every animal gets the attention the require plus a little more regardless of what I’m doing that day. I use pet safe scents in diffusers such as lemongrass for the cats. I also keep all chemicals away and only clean the room the animals are in with a vinegar solution.
“Megan was so great with our dog reef! She sent picture updates while we were away and reef looked like he was having the best time. I would recommend Megan to anyone looking for a sitter!”

About: I love animals, especially cats and dogs. I come from a “dog family” but have had the privilege of meeting some amazing cats, and have one of my own now. I’ve had a lot of pet care experience over the years, watching many different family member’s and friend’s animals. Specifically experience with older animals, animals with high needs diets and nervous or shy animals as well. Being aware of and sensitive to dog/cat behavior is super important in providing positive pet care! I’m currently on summer break and have more free time. I work part time and enjoy a lot of hobbies, but am able to accommodate many different pet schedules. I am lucky to have a very flexible schedule and can focus primarily on pet sitting and pet care. I feel very comfortable accommodating to your needs and preferences. I am flexible and enjoy new challenges when provided them. I am happy doing whatever is best for you and your pets!
“It is a pleasure to work with Yajahyra. She takes care of our 7-year old dog Milo by taking him on weekly walks. She also took care of him while we were away from home for a long weekend. She is kind, professional, and very good with pets. Milo always looks forward to her visits.”

“Michael was our first rover experience, and was able to watch our 9yo Husky and 8mo golden retriever on short notice. Michael came ahead of time to meet the dogs and learn our routine, and then communicated when he’d be at the house, sent lots of pictures, and spent plenty of time with the dogs. Really appreciate how easy this was, when we would otherwise have to board our dogs, coordinate pick up times, etc. Will definitely use Michael again!”

“Azucena was so helpful and dependable. She helped me out in a pinch while I unexpectedly had to travel more than usual. I'd absolutely recommend her and I'm grateful for her help!”

“Yulia is a gem. She watched our dog over the holiday and provided us with plenty of pictures and videos throughout her stay. She is kind and very caring, taking our dog on multiple walks per day. Even when it was raining! She gave us the sense of security as we were out of the country. We came home to an incredibly happy, well taken pet and our home was spotless. Wish there was a rating for more stars!!! Thank you Yulia 💛”

About: I've been surrounded by dogs and cats my entire life and have over 31 years of hands-on experience caring for pets. I've raised puppies, cared for adult and senior dogs, and understand that every pet has their own personality and needs. I'm dependable, patient, and attentive, and I know how important it is to have someone you can trust with your beloved companion. I'll follow all feeding, walking, medication, and care instructions carefully, give them plenty of love, attention, playtime, and companionship, and make sure they have fresh water and a clean environment. “Sara is a dedicated proffesional with a true love for our four-legged furry friends. We have three girls, all 10 years and older, each requiring individual care. One required injections twice a day promptly at 8:00. With Sara, we were kept informed of daily doings with videos and messages. We always felt like the girls were taken care of. We could tell from the videos that Sara communicated with each girl equally and lovingly. I was so pleased with Sara that I told all my fellow dog parents about her. Sara was also very prompt in responding to calls and messages. Our dogs require 24/7 care and Sara made this a pleasure, not a chore. When we returned home, we knew the girls had been well cared for. We travel a lot and I have had a total of 28 dogs and cats so far in my life. I would never consider boarding my dogs and would rank Sara as one of the best doggie caregivers I have known over the past 50 years. Thanks, Sara.”

About: Hi! I've been lucky enough to grow up with animals my whole life, and I can't imagine life without them. Over the years, I've cared for dogs, cats, birds, fish, frogs, a bearded dragon, and even a tortoise. Being around so many different animals has taught me that every pet has their own personality, quirks, and way of showing love. I have experience with pets of all ages, from young kittens to senior dogs. One of my own dogs lived to be 16 years old, so I understand the extra patience, attention, and care that older pets sometimes need. I also attended training classes with him, which helped me learn more about understanding dog behavior and building trust through positive reinforcement. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, cuddles on the couch, or just having someone nearby, I'm happy to meet them where they're at. My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved while you're away, and I'll treat them like they're part of my own family. I know how important it is to trust the person caring for your pets, so I'll always do my best to keep you updated with photos and messages. I'd love the chance to meet you and your pets and help make your time away a little less stressful! As a recent graduate currently applying to grad schools nearby, I have a flexible schedule and plenty of time to dedicate to pet care. I’m able to plan my days around walks, drop-ins, and playtime, making sure pets get consistent attention and care. I’m also happy to do overnight stays when needed. I understand how important it is for pets to feel comfortable in their own home, and I do my best to keep their routine as normal and stress-free as possible while you’re away. Because my schedule is flexible right now, I’m able to be reliable and fully present for each booking without overcommitting. My goal is always to make sure your pets feel safe, loved, and well cared for. I care for pets in their own home by keeping their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I follow all instructions closely, including feeding, walks, playtime, and any special care needs. I’m comfortable with pets of all ages and personalities and always adjust to what makes them feel safe and happy. Whether they’re energetic or more laid-back, I give them the attention and care they need. I also respect your home and keep things tidy, and I’ll send regular updates and photos so you can feel at ease while you’re away.

Kimberly was great, will definitely use her services again. Watched our dog for 4 nights/5 days and Brawley loved her. She was good at communicating, respectful of our home, followed the instructions left perfectly and contacted us as soon as Brawley needed anything. Even helped us out by extending her stay another night, very flexible. Thank you!

Casey was great! I was gone for two weeks and had never left my dogs that long. She was very communicative and treated them like her own. She stayed at my place and left everything super clean. I would definitely have her stay with the girls again if needed.

My 2 dogs were taken care by Adam on my last trip which was 16 days. He had walked them prior to my trip in the afternoon for 8 days due to some hand surgery. My neighbors all thought he was very knowledgeable regarding dogs. They all liked him stating that he was a very polite young man. He sent pictures daily and would text about funny and quirky things the dogs were doing. My place was neat and clean when I returned. He even stripped the bed for me. I already have Adam booked for another trip this year. You will not be disappointed if you book him for your next adventure.

Lauren went above and beyond watching and caring for Cody! She eased all nerves about leaving internationally for a long time, he seemed so well adjusted and very happy! Lauren took the time to take Cody out to play ball everyday - his favorite game! She was so great at keeping us updated with photos and updates, and even tidied up the house so nicely before leaving. We will definitely be using her again, have nothing but great things to say!

Mackenzie did a fantastic job pet sitting in our home with our little rescue dog that loves company and playing fetch. She was great about giving updates and following our routine with Lucas. She is happy, easy going, and was a pleasure to have in our home. We would definitely book her again.

I cannot say enough how wonderful Elina is! She is super responsible, thoughtful, conscientious, and my dogs took to her immediately, which does not always happen. With the feedback and photos, I always knew what was going on and she got the complicated routine down immediately. She is one of the best dog sitters I’ve ever had in my entire life and I’m lucky to have found her!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Carlsbad walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Carlsbad maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Carlsbad choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
