Joel was very responsive, professional, and - most importantly - very caring for the pets. Our dog and cat warmed up to him quickly, which was a source of great assurance as he kept an eye on them for a few days. He was also flexible throughout the booking, making himself available earlier/later based on unexpected changes to my travel itinerary. He did a great job!

About: *Use code CAROLG31006 for $20 credit on first booking* Hello! I'm Darlene! My family and friends also call me Caroline, so feel free to use either name. I have over 7 years of hands-on pet care experience and grew up with three dogs—a Husky, Chow Chow, and Cocker Spaniel—so I’m comfortable with different breeds and temperaments. I genuinely love dogs and treat them like family. What sets me apart is my attention to detail, patience, and consistent communication. I provide regular updates, photos, and peace of mind so you always know your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine since I work remotely and have a flexible schedule. This allows me to provide consistent attention, regular walks, feeding, playtime, and companionship throughout the day. Your pet will never feel alone, and I can easily adjust my schedule to meet their specific needs, whether that’s extra potty breaks, exercise, or simply keeping them company and comfortable. Safety and trust are my top priorities. I provide a clean, secure, and pet-friendly environment with constant supervision, attention, and care. In your home, I follow all instructions closely to keep your pet’s routine consistent and stress-free. I ensure doors and spaces are secure and never leave pets unattended for long. I also send regular updates and photos so you always know your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for.

More importantly, Anusha was kind and patient with our dogs. It means so much to know the dogs are in kind, capable hands while we’re away—thank you again, Anusha!

About: Hey there! I have lived my entire 30 years with dogs. From growing up with two golden retrievers to getting my own dog louie at 17- and seeing him through his senior years all the way up until his passing this past February. We still have his sweet loving sister Nala who is 5, a tender gentle girl who lives for fetch! She may be timid at first meet but is just a submissive gentle girl who eventually opens up for fun loving play if the other dog will have her :) I have dog and cat sat for family and friends since I can remember. I absolutely love animals and take care of them with immense responsibility and care as I know from my own experience they are often some of the most important beings in our life. My husband Louie (my dog Louie came first they just happened to have the same name! lol) is also an animal lover and instantly adopted my babies upon meeting and has always treated them with tender and diligent care. We are responsible loving and caring pet parents who take the responsibility of looking after your loved one very seriously! Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. We look forward hearing from you. I work remotely and have a flexible schedule that I create with plenty of time to work around the needs of the animals I am caring for. We currently live in a home with an enclosed deck space, however whenever we aren't home we keep the windows and doors completely shut and locked.

Nicholas is such a nice, polite, and communicative young man. He kept in touch with me constantly before & during his stay at my home. I’ll definitely have him watch my golden boy, Beau-Bo, again in the future. Beau-Bo had unexpected ear surgery just before I left and Nicholas gave him his medications daily and took him to a follow-up vet appointment. Nicholas kept in touch with me and sent photos while I was away and I could see my Beau-Bo was doing well 😊. Thanks, Nicholas!

About: Hi, I'm Corinne, Please call me "C" (all my friends do)! I believe every pet has their own story - and I'm here to listen, love, and care for them as if they were my own. Whether your fur baby is an energetic puppy, a shy rescue, or a senior who needs a little extra support, I provide personalized, heart-centered care designed around their unique personality and needs. CPR-certified and experienced with puppy training, senior care, anxiety management, and administering medications. From long walks and playtime to gentle snuggles and quiet companionship, I focus on making sure your pet feels safe, understood, and loved (and that you feel completely at ease while you're away). For me, this isn't just pet sitting - it's about building trust, creating connection, and giving each tail the attention it deserves. Serving: North County San Diego (Carlsbad, Encinitas, Oceanside, RSF, Vista, and surrounding areas.) Pet care is part of my everyday life! My schedule is flexible, so I can adjust to your pet's routine - early morning, midday walks, or overnight snuggles included. Your pet's comfort and safety come first. I provide care exclusively in your home so your pet feels secure in their familiar space. I follow their routine to keep them happy and stress-free. You won't feel like a stranger is in your home - more like an old family friend who loves and respects your pets as much as you do.

About: I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life and have always loved caring for them. I’ve taken care of my family’s dogs while my parents were away and have also dog-sat for a close family friend for a week. I’m comfortable with feeding, walks, playtime, and giving pets plenty of love and attention. I work Eastern Time, so I’m typically done with work by 2 p.m. I’m available for dog walks anytime after that and have a flexible schedule to accommodate your pet’s needs. I’m available to pet sit on weekends. I provide pet sitting and dog walking in your pet’s home, where they can stay comfortable in their familiar environment. About: I've been around dogs my whole life, feeding them, walking them, reading their moods, knowing when they want to play and when they just want to lie next to you. I'm calm and confident around animals of all sizes and personalities, including puppies going through the chewing and housebreaking phase. What I bring is attention. I notice when a dog is anxious, tired, or just needs a few extra minutes on a walk. I treat every dog like they're getting the same care I'd want for my own, and I keep owners updated so they're not left wondering how things are going while they're away. I'm new to Rover, but not new to animals. If you want someone who's genuinely there for your pet and not just checking a box, I'd love to help with walks, drop-ins, or overnight stays. My schedule is wide open right now, so I can work around your routine easily. I'm generally available any day from early morning through late evening, roughly 8am to 10pm, and happy to adjust as needed. All of my care happens in the client's home. My goal is to keep things as normal as possible for the pet while the owner is away, so I follow whatever routine is already in place: feeding times, walk schedule, and any specific instructions left for me. For house sitting, I stay at your home so your pet keeps their usual environment, bed, and yard instead of adjusting to somewhere new. For walks and drop-ins, I stick closely to the schedule you set and give the pet real attention during each visit. I send photo or text updates so you know how things went while you're away. If you leave specific instructions, I follow them exactly rather than improvising.

Abigail sat for us for the 1st time this summer, and we were very impressed. She seemed to be responsible, conscientious, and neat. She sent pictures daily, and left the house spotless. Our neighbor raved about her, saying he saw her walk our dog multiple times, and even arranged play dates with his dog. We have had many sitters in the past, but he said she was the very best.

Dog handlers don’t just take care of fur babies, they also take care of the clients as well. And some of us are worse than the dogs. I’m one of those. My dogs are my obsession and I’m very particular in their care. For the first time ever, I left my dogs in the care of someone who wasn’t me (1st in five years). My anxiety was through the roof. Joel was EXCEPTIONAL. Joel handled my crazy and the dogs with grace and kindness , and I’m suspicious that Axel and Harley may like him better than me. Both of my dogs are German Shepherds and require a strong, confident handler. They aren’t couch potatoes. Joel was fantastic and took their leads without hesitation. He was mindful of Axel and Harley and thoughtful of my personal stress. I would absolutely recommend his services and will be using him again in the future.

FAQs for House Sitting - Oceanside

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Oceanside on Rover is $48.84 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 4,981 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Oceanside. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Oceanside walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Oceanside maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Oceanside choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Oceanside. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
