We had to book a last-minute trip to visit grandma due to a health issue, all while my 14-year-old fur baby’s health was rapidly declining, caring for three other dogs, and preparing for my toddler’s first road trip. Needless to say, my anxiety was through the roof. Laura made me feel so much more comfortable from the very first meet-and-greet. She asked thoughtful questions, took notes, listened carefully to all my concerns, and provided reassurance when I needed it most. And she was absolutely not kidding when she said we’d come home to a house cleaner than we left it! When we returned, the dogs were calm, happy, and clearly well cared for. Knowing my senior boy was in such attentive and compassionate hands gave me priceless peace of mind during a very stressful time. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Laura to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, responsible, and genuinely caring.

I felt completely comfortable and Rory loved her. I would absolutely work with Yajahyra again!

About: I have over 7 years of hands-on experience as a dog owner, providing daily care including walks, feeding, and lots of love. I truly enjoy being around animals and am comfortable caring for both dogs and cats. I’m patient, attentive, and treat every pet like part of the family. I am currently not working, so I have plenty of time and flexibility in my day. Pet care fits naturally into my routine, and I am fully available to give pets the attention, walks, and care they need. I take care of pets in their own home by following their normal routine as closely as possible. I make sure they are fed on time, have fresh water, get regular walks, and receive plenty of attention and companionship so they feel comfortable and secure.

About: Been taking care of roommates, friends and my own pets since college in 2009. I have fostered a special needs dog that was deaf, diabetic and had cataracts, she needed insulin injections with every meal. I adopted 2 awesome dogs, one of them has been through 2 ACL surgeries and lives with Cushing's. I work from home and have a pretty flexible schedule. I can take a long lunch and walk/check in on your animals. I have pretty open availability to visit evenings and weekends. Walking a dog is a great way to bond and give the pet some sunshine and exercise. I don't mind spending a good amount of time playing with the dog and make sure their needs are met. I am used to having my dog be a picky pee spot picker, so I have a lot of patience.

About: Hey fellow dog lovers! I’ve had animals around me all my life, and dogs have always been a constant; sometimes just being the reason I got outside for a walk on a tough day. Caring for different pets over the years has shown me that every animal is unique, with their own quirks, needs, and boundaries. I always respect that so they feel safe, comfortable, and understood. I’ve been running a remote creative studio for 8+ years, which gives me flexibility in my day to day and allows me to be fully present when caring for your pet. Because I work remotely, I’m able to spend more time at home with your pet and keep them company throughout the day. I’d describe my energy as calm, attentive, and playful. I prioritize a calm, safe, and respectful environment for every pet. I follow routines closely, stay attentive on walks, and ensure pets feel secure, comfortable, and well cared for at all times. Happy to keep you as updated as you'd prefer.

This was my first time using Rover, and it was also my girls' first time being watched by someone they didn't know, so I was definitely a little nervous. Anita was incredibly quick to respond to my messages and was so flexible when we were running behind schedule on the day of our booking. From the moment we met her, she made me feel completely at ease. Our pups absolutely LOVED her! Anita was wonderful about keeping me updated throughout the evening with messages and photos, and it was obvious our girls were having the best time. Our little one is still a puppy and can be pretty timid while she's figuring out the world around her, but with Anita she looked so comfortable, happy, and confident. She even lost her FIRST TOOTH while Anita was watching her! Anita actually saved it for me, and I was so incredibly grateful because I've never experienced that milestone with a dog before. It meant so much to me that she thought to do that. Overall, we had the best experience, and I truly couldn't have asked for a better first Rover booking. I can't wait to book with Anita again whenever we're in the area. Thank you so much for taking such amazing care of our girls—you were absolutely AMAZING! ❤️🐾

About: I have had dogs for my entire life and am very experienced with all levels of care from walking and feeding, to administering medication and light obdience and potty training. I am highly attentive, comfortable with all sizes and breeds, and dedicated to maintaining your dog's regular routine so they feel safe and loved while you're away. My schedule is currently wide open for the summer, so I will have plenty of time to dedicate to your pups. I do ask for some advance notice, but I am open to accommodating same-day requests when possible. I provide a secure environment for pets in my home with at least 3 walks a day and plenty of engagement. I have a doodle who loves to have "sleepovers" with new friends. Safety is my top priority, so I can easily crate your dog if needed. I am fully able to accommodate any specific feeding schedules and administer any medications if required. I can provide the same level of service in your home as well, except I'll leave my doodle at home ☺️

About: Dogs have always been a huge part of my life, and I understand how important it is to find someone you trust to care for your pet. I have experience caring for dogs of all ages, from energetic puppies to senior dogs requiring extra attention and specialized care. Most recently, I cared for my senior dog for many years, managing daily medications, strict feeding schedules, mobility challenges, and health monitoring. This experience taught me patience, attention to detail, and how to recognize when a dog needs extra support or comfort. I provide a safe, loving environment and treat every pet as if they were my own. Whether your dog needs walks, playtime, cuddles, medication administration, or simply a calm and caring companion while you’re away, I am committed to providing dependable care and regular updates for your peace of mind. I am a hybrid worker who enjoys the company of dogs 💜 Taking them out on walks and dedicating some time in the evening on an activity they enjoy is always a good time. I live in a house with a backyard. I have no kids just 1 small yorkie. I dog sit in my home and have never had any problems with potty breaks, walks, or with rough playing with my yorkie.

Ana was amazing with our three boys, each of whom has very different needs. Before the stay, she took the time to do a thorough meet-and-greet at our home and made sure she understood every detail so she could keep their routine as normal as possible. During her stay, Ana quickly earned our dogs’ trust by catering to their individual personalities and needs. This included one dog with a traumatic rescue background and another who is an 18-year-old senior and blind. Her patience, compassion, and attentiveness were evident from day one. Ana also eased our anxiety about being away from our dogs by sending regular updates and photos throughout the day, which we greatly appreciated. We firmly believe that the best measure of a caregiver is how happy and comfortable our dogs are around them, and it was clear from every update—and when we returned home—that they absolutely adored her. We truly could not have asked for better care. Ana consistently exceeds our expectations, and we would not hesitate to trust her with our dogs again!

Here’s a polished Rover review you can post: Kelly was absolutely amazing and truly saved us when our pet sitter canceled at the last minute. She took incredible care of our four dogs and three little pigs while staying in our home. From the start, she was communicative, reliable, and clearly cared about making sure all of our animals were happy and well cared for. She sent frequent updates and lots of photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was obvious that our pets were comfortable, loved, and getting plenty of attention. We came home to happy animals and a well-cared-for house. We couldn’t be more grateful for Kelly’s help and professionalism, especially on such short notice. We will absolutely be booking with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring pet sitter. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Claudia was already watching our two dogs when my brother needed her for the night. She rolled with the punches. His dog ended up being just as obsessed with her as our dogs are. My brother is VERY nervous about who watches his dog. He relaxed immediately with Claudia. Of course she sent pictures throughout the stay. Somehow she can juggle play time, food time, and dinner time flawlessly with three, very different size dogs with wildly different personalities. She has a true talent. We couldn’t be happier with Jaiden. My wife and I went on a 9-day trip to Costa Rica and wanted to make sure our 16-year-old dog wouldn’t feel lonely or stressed while we were away. From the start, Jaiden made us feel comfortable and confident leaving Polly in her care. Our dog is very picky when we’re gone and usually becomes lethargic, but that wasn’t the case at all with Jaiden. Polly was active, engaged, and clearly well cared for. Jaiden communicated with us daily, sending updates and photos of Polly on her walks, playing at home, and resting comfortably. That peace of mind while traveling was invaluable. We were extremely happy with her service and will absolutely book her again for future trips (if she’s available). Highly recommend Jaiden to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and attentive dog sitter.

FAQs for House Sitting - Vista

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Vista on Rover is $72.15 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 6,836 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Vista. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Vista walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Vista maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Vista choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Vista. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
