About: Been taking care of roommates, friends and my own pets since college in 2009. I have fostered a special needs dog that was deaf, diabetic and had cataracts, she needed insulin injections with every meal. I adopted 2 awesome dogs, one of them had been through 2 ACL surgeries and lived with Cushing's for many years, sadly passed in July 2026 at 14.5 years old. I work from home and have a pretty flexible schedule. I can take a long lunch and walk/check in on your animals, but I do require some time for my main job haha. I have pretty open availability to visit early mornings, lunchtime, evenings and weekends. I do have a 5 year old son who will occasionally accompany me on visits or walks. He loves cats even though he is mildly allergic, he thinks petting them is worth the mild itchiness and sneezing haha Walking a dog is a great way to bond and give the pet some sunshine and exercise. I don't mind spending a good amount of time playing with the dog and make sure their needs are met. I am used to having my dog be a picky pee spot picker, so I have a lot of patience.
“Anusha was everything we could hope for and more. She took care of 3 dogs over July 4 weekend. She administered medication as prescribed, sent pics/communicated well, and took great care of our home. More importantly, Anusha was kind and patient with our dogs. It means so much to know the dogs are in kind, capable hands while we’re away—thank you again, Anusha!”

“Yajahyra was kind and thoughtful. She was flexible with scheduling, met my puppy Rory with me before sitting began, followed the care instructions perfectly, and checked in regularly with updates on feeding and sweet photos and videos. I felt completely comfortable and Rory loved her. I would absolutely work with Yajahyra again!”

“We had Nicolas come and house sit and watch our dogs while we were out of town. He was extremely communicative, providing updates daily on the dogs and our house. He is easy going, respectful and a great dog and house sitter! We will be using him for all future trips as he made us so comfortable and gave our dogs all of his attention and time. I’d book with Nicolas without any hesitation!”

“Beth was the most lovely, kind, and caring sitter for our baby boy Blue. I felt so at ease traveling knowing she was watching him and our house. She is super intentional about security and customizes her watching based on your pet and their needs! Will definitely book her again and recommend her to anyone looking for a dog sitter ?”

“Alex is awesome. She takes wonderful care of our baby and house. She goes above and beyond what is asked of her. Our minds can be focused on enjoying our vacation instead of worrying about our dog and house. Highly recommended!”

“I was a little nervous, opening up my house and trusting my pet to a stranger, but Anna was absolutely wonderful! Very communicative, accountable, kept in touch and sent lots of pictures! My cat loved her! I think my house looked even cleaner than before after she left! Definitely keeping your contact, and will be rebooking in the future! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”
About: I have experience training puppies, bathing, grooming, and taking care of older pets with medical conditions. I’ve cared for dogs of all sizes, cats, rabbits, reptiles, and aquatic friends. I currently work part-time and I’m studying for the MCAT with plenty of time to look after your pets and housesit. I only work a few hours a week in after school care, so I can dedicate most of my time to ensuring your pets are well taken care of. I understand separation anxiety while you’re away may affect some pets more than others. Keeping them comfortable at home would prevent adding on more stress to your pet and you. Thus, I would prefer to stay overnight and pick up where you left off with their routine. I’m very calm, reliable, know how to handle emergency situations, and I’m an animal whisperer :)

About: I've lived with dogs my whole life growing up around multiple and even aiding in the birth of a 12 puppy litter into my own family. Which some of those puppies have stayed with us ever since. As well as caring for older dogs as they get into their later years and pass on. I love all kinds of pets either way, from giant wolf dogs my grandfather used to have- to our very own English and French bulldogs that need just as much care as they give in love! I have not has as much experience with cats, but I'm always willing to spend some time with them. Any pet is like part of the family, and they always deserve that love! I currently have a part time job with a changing schedule- however if I am booked at least 2 weeks in advance, I can make sure that I have certain days and times available. A heads up is all I need! I care for pets in others homes just as they would. It can be a big sign of trust to let someone into your home with a pet, and my intention is to leave the way I came in, with the only change being a happy pet!
“Kathleen came through in a pinch. She was very communicative and I came home to a house as I had left it and a happy dog. I’d definitely recommend her and I will be booking her in the future myself.”

“I can't thank Nadia enough for taking care of our two mini goldendoodles while we were away for the weekend! She is very sweet and caring, we were very nervous about leaving them alone for the first time and she really assured us that our babies were in good hands! Dependable, Professional, Caring, and Trustworthy. We will definitely be reaching out to her again in the future! Thank you Nadia!”

“Camryn did a great job caring for our weim & house sitting while we were away! She was super flexible when our return flight was delayed, sent us pictures, and was patient with our dog’s early morning wake-up. Will definitely use her again in the future.”

About: Hello everyone. My name is Morgan. I am a former veterinary assistant with 10 years experience in the medical field. My dog passed away recently, so I’m looking to get back into working with animals in a more relaxed way. I am more than happy to do housesitting/pet sitting and daily dog walks or just coming to keep your cat some company at home while you’re at work if you don’t want them to be alone. I work part time so I will have plenty of time to spend with your babies. I’m looking to establish a strongly base and make Rover full-time :) I would like to get into housesitting/pet sitting and dog walking. I also would like to get into cat care whether that is babysitting while you’re on vacation or if you just want them to have some company while you’re at work.

“I can’t recommend Yahaira enough! She is honestly so sweet and treated my puppy, Souei, like one of her own babies. On top of that, she’s an amazing trainer and gave me some awesome peace of mind while I was away. I’m so glad I found her. will definitely be booking her again!”

“Azucena was so helpful and dependable. She helped me out in a pinch while I unexpectedly had to travel more than usual. I'd absolutely recommend her and I'm grateful for her help!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs, cats, and rabbits for neighbors and friends since I was 10. I grew up with dogs, and loved helping train them. I have found great success with force free training! I am a student, so I have time during the week for dog walks and at home check ins! I may have occasional weekend availability as well, but will be able to help out most on weekdays. I don’t offer care for pets at my home, but I am happy to work with whatever requests you have. I am very flexible and happy to accommodate specific rules if needed, I know every pet has their own quirks :)
About: As long as I can remember I have always loved animals. As I’ve aged I’ve come to like bugs and reptiles too! Over the past year friends and family have requested I watch over their furry family and I’ve happily obliged. I have some experience with reactive dogs (ability to read their body language, having a calm energy and meeting them where they are). My experience has covered, a newer kitten with a special diet, a multi-cat home + dog and a senior cat with special medication requirements. I also am a pet parent to a small dog whom I adore. Since I work part-time, my schedule is pretty flexible, allowing me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to your pets. Currently, I only house-sit on days I do not work out of home, so my priority is you furry family. I’m pretty flexible depending on each individual pets needs. Whether it’s a walk, drop-in visit, or overnight stay, my priority is making sure they feel comfortable, cared for, and as relaxed as possible while you’re away. I’m happy to accommodate your pet’s usual routine and will follow feeding schedules, medication instructions, and any special requests exactly as provided.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Vista
Katherine was amazing! She understood our dogs needs inherently, they were happy and when we got home it was like we never left. She asked important questions and sent pictures and updates regularly. She felt like an extension of our family based on the dogs response to her. I have already booked another reservation with her.

Laura is incredible! She watched my pup for over a week and went above and beyond. As a helicopter parent, it really helps me to know that my dogs ok and she would send me multiple photos and updates a day letting me know he’s having fun and taken care of. She even left me a thank you note and pictures of him!! It’s always hard to let someone have your dog for that long but I fully trust her!

I called Meg with only an hour's notice because I needed someone to stay with my Richie. We were so lucky, she happened to be nearby, and another family's owners were on their way home, so she was able to come right over and take care of our boy. Working with Meg feels like having a trusted family member caring for your home and your pup. Richie was in the best hands, and I truly can't thank her enough for always being there when we need her!

Ana was awesome! She house sat for us and took great care of our two dogs and two cats while we were on vacation. This was our first time booking with her, but it definitely won’t be the last - she really went above and beyond. We came home to happy pets and felt totally at ease with her updates. Would absolutely recommend her!

Nadia is an absolute joy and she was so wonderful with my two fur babies! She took incredible care of the dogs and my home and I can’t wait to have her back again! I felt completely at ease leaving the pups in her care and it helped make my vacation even more restful.

Alexandra was an amazing in-home dog sitter. She took excellent care of my senior dog, who has a specific diet and requires medication, and handled everything perfectly. She sent photos and updates a couple of times each day, which gave me a lot of peace of mind while I was away from my boy. It was clear he was comfortable, happy, and very well cared for. I would absolutely book with Alexandra again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and attentive dog sitter.

Danny was a great help during our time away, and he did an outstanding job of keeping up with a rascal of a puppy in addition to our adult Lab. Danny definitely went above and beyond to keep the chaos in control, and kept us informed along the way. We also appreciated that he went beyond expectations to leave the house clean and tidy before we got home. Would highly recommend!

Jillian was patient, kind and very conscientious with our deaf and mostly blind senior dog. I was very anxious about leaving her but with Jillian's clear communication and photos, began to relax. When we returned our dog was just fine, due to Jillian's hard work. She's the best!

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 6,849 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Vista. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Vista walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Vista maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Vista choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Vista. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
