“Laura was fantastic! She did an amazing job at checking in morning, night and mid day with photos. She also made our pups some yummy eggs to snack on and to top it off, she vacuumed and threw the sheets in the wash. We were at lease the whole time we are gone for the 3 nights. Excited to have her back next time!”

“Nadia was great! Our dog has some special needs and she went above and beyond to care for him while we were out for the day. She shared pictures throughout the day and he looked so happy. Everything we needed was done and handled perfectly. He had a great day with Nadia!”

“Once again we came home, from nearly 2 weeks away, to happy and well-adjusted dogs thanks to Beth's fantastic care. On top of that, this time she outdid herself by providing exceptional care even for the wildlife that visit our yard -- she scrubbed the bird baths and they're like new!! Amazing!!!”

“Nicholas is such a nice, polite, and communicative young man. He kept in touch with me constantly before & during his stay at my home. I’ll definitely have him watch my golden boy, Beau-Bo, again in the future. Beau-Bo had unexpected ear surgery just before I left and Nicholas gave him his medications daily and took him to a follow-up vet appointment. Nicholas kept in touch with me and sent photos while I was away and I could see my Beau-Bo was doing well 😊. Thanks, Nicholas!”

“Meg took excellent care of our lab for 4 days. She was very attentive to his needs and stayed with him the entire stay, which we truly appreciated. She was a great communicator which gave us the peace of mind that our dog was doing well without us! Highly recommend Meg!”

“Brittany is so sweet with our pup, Max! She cared for him like her own. Brittany staying with Max gives us such a peace of mind! She took him for all his walks, played with him, and made sure he was safe! We already have Brittany booked again!”

“I was a little nervous, opening up my house and trusting my pet to a stranger, but Anna was absolutely wonderful! Very communicative, accountable, kept in touch and sent lots of pictures! My cat loved her! I think my house looked even cleaner than before after she left! Definitely keeping your contact, and will be rebooking in the future! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”
“Claudia was amazing! We were so thankful for her. We have a senior pet, which creates even more anxiety when leaving, but Claudia eased all our nerves. She went above and beyond to make sure our pets and our family felt comfortable and truly taken care of. I would absolutely use her services again if she will have us!”

“I can’t recommend Yahaira enough! She is honestly so sweet and treated my puppy, Souei, like one of her own babies. On top of that, she’s an amazing trainer and gave me some awesome peace of mind while I was away. I’m so glad I found her. will definitely be booking her again!”

About: I’ve raised dogs, cats, bearded dragons, chickens, pigs, and taken care of other people’s dogs for awhile now. I love all animals and figured I could use my free time to help yours out! Im currently in between jobs so I have time. Long walks, cuddles, treats are all on the agenda. I really enjoy the company and love animals so much. Pups are safe at my home. So I’m available for day care, and possible overnights if discussed. Drop ins are no problem all day within a 10 mile radius of my work in Oceanside, and on weekends within a 15 mile radius of my home in vista.
About: Been taking care of roommates, friends and my own pets since college in 2009. I have fostered a special needs dog that was deaf, diabetic and had cataracts, she needed insulin injections with every meal. I adopted 2 awesome dogs, one of them has been through 2 ACL surgeries and lives with Cushing's. I work from home and have a pretty flexible schedule. I can take a long lunch and walk/check in on your animals. I have pretty open availability to visit evenings and weekends. Walking a dog is a great way to bond and give the pet some sunshine and exercise. I don't mind spending a good amount of time playing with the dog and make sure their needs are met. I am used to having my dog be a picky pee spot picker, so I have a lot of patience.
“Rylee was great with our dogs. She was super sweet and paid close attention to all of the details on how to care for our dogs. Rylee was very patient and we felt very comfortable with having her as our sitter. Recommend 10/10”

“Anusha was everything we could hope for and more. She took care of 3 dogs over July 4 weekend. She administered medication as prescribed, sent pics/communicated well, and took great care of our home. More importantly, Anusha was kind and patient with our dogs. It means so much to know the dogs are in kind, capable hands while we’re away—thank you again, Anusha!”

“Here’s a polished Rover review you can post: Kelly was absolutely amazing and truly saved us when our pet sitter canceled at the last minute. She took incredible care of our four dogs and three little pigs while staying in our home. From the start, she was communicative, reliable, and clearly cared about making sure all of our animals were happy and well cared for. She sent frequent updates and lots of photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was obvious that our pets were comfortable, loved, and getting plenty of attention. We came home to happy animals and a well-cared-for house. We couldn’t be more grateful for Kelly’s help and professionalism, especially on such short notice. We will absolutely be booking with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring pet sitter. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

“Azucena was so helpful and dependable. She helped me out in a pinch while I unexpectedly had to travel more than usual. I'd absolutely recommend her and I'm grateful for her help!”

Ana was awesome! She house sat for us and took great care of our two dogs and two cats while we were on vacation. This was our first time booking with her, but it definitely won’t be the last - she really went above and beyond. We came home to happy pets and felt totally at ease with her updates. Would absolutely recommend her!

Nadia is an absolute joy and she was so wonderful with my two fur babies! She took incredible care of the dogs and my home and I can’t wait to have her back again! I felt completely at ease leaving the pups in her care and it helped make my vacation even more restful.

Alexandra was an amazing in-home dog sitter. She took excellent care of my senior dog, who has a specific diet and requires medication, and handled everything perfectly. She sent photos and updates a couple of times each day, which gave me a lot of peace of mind while I was away from my boy. It was clear he was comfortable, happy, and very well cared for. I would absolutely book with Alexandra again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and attentive dog sitter.

Danny was a great help during our time away, and he did an outstanding job of keeping up with a rascal of a puppy in addition to our adult Lab. Danny definitely went above and beyond to keep the chaos in control, and kept us informed along the way. We also appreciated that he went beyond expectations to leave the house clean and tidy before we got home. Would highly recommend!

Jillian was patient, kind and very conscientious with our deaf and mostly blind senior dog. I was very anxious about leaving her but with Jillian's clear communication and photos, began to relax. When we returned our dog was just fine, due to Jillian's hard work. She's the best!
David was great with our adult dog, and was able to come in last-minute, which was a huge relief. He stayed over and left the house in great condition as well. Our dog has some very particular needs as he continues to recover from an injury, and David had no problem handling them. Will definitely be keeping David on our Rover rotation :)

Claudia was already watching our two dogs when my brother needed her for the night. She rolled with the punches. His dog ended up being just as obsessed with her as our dogs are. My brother is VERY nervous about who watches his dog. He relaxed immediately with Claudia. Of course she sent pictures throughout the stay. Somehow she can juggle play time, food time, and dinner time flawlessly with three, very different size dogs with wildly different personalities. She has a true talent. (Your house will also somehow always be nicer than how you left it too)

We couldn’t be happier with Jaiden. My wife and I went on a 9-day trip to Costa Rica and wanted to make sure our 16-year-old dog wouldn’t feel lonely or stressed while we were away. From the start, Jaiden made us feel comfortable and confident leaving Polly in her care. Our dog is very picky when we’re gone and usually becomes lethargic, but that wasn’t the case at all with Jaiden. Polly was active, engaged, and clearly well cared for. Jaiden communicated with us daily, sending updates and photos of Polly on her walks, playing at home, and resting comfortably. That peace of mind while traveling was invaluable. We were extremely happy with her service and will absolutely book her again for future trips (if she’s available). Highly recommend Jaiden to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and attentive dog sitter.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Vista on Rover is $72.15 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 6,836 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Vista. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Vista walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Vista maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Vista choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Vista. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
