“Tracy is delightful! She took great care of my dog while we were away and left my home immaculate. I loved receiving photos of their walks and hangout time while I was away! Tracy was so patient with me (as a first time Rover user) with all my questions before booking! A huge plus... I can’t wait to trust Tracy with Bo again for our next trip!”

“Mckinley did a great job taking care of our older lab and young one year old lab. She kept their routine and spent time at home with them so they could stay out and play. I was updated regularly and felt completely confident that they were happy and safe:)”

“Eli did a great job with Max. He stayed with and cared for Max for 4 days. He made sure Max was well taken care of. He was even great with Max during a day of rain. Max is not a fan of rain, but all was well with Eli's patience and understanding. Max even went on a couple of short hikes. Eli is professional and made sure to spend quality time with Max. I will use Eli again.”

About: I have grown up with dogs my entire life, a chihuahua and now a golden retriever who is 5. I love all animals and pets and have experience walking neighbors dogs 4x per week. I am an avid walker and love walking dogs and have walked multiple dogs at a time. I am considerate, cleanly and will take great care of your pets and home. My family and I spent 2 summers fostering dogs from Helen Woodward Animal Center. Fostering consisted of taking care of puppies, adult dogs for 1 - 2 timeframes until the pets were ready to go up for adoption. This taught me a lot about caring for animals and giving medication, if needed. Last, I also have experience with Female Athlete Volunteer (FAV) organization and have volunteered at senior care facilities during events. I am currently a full time Senior in high school and have class from 9am-4pm Monday through Friday. I am available in the mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends. Once summer starts, I am available full time Monday through Sunday. Since I’m still in high school, I only care for pets in my client’s home so they can stay in a place where they’re already comfortable and used to. I try to keep their routine as normal as possible such as feeding them on schedule, making sure they get enough walks and playtime, and giving them lots of attention so they don’t feel stressed while their owner is away. I’m very mindful about safety as I like keeping doors and gates secure and locked, using leashes on walks, and making sure they don’t get into anything they shouldn’t. I will also be respectful of your home and keep things clean, follow any instructions you leave, and will send updates or photos so you know your pet is doing well. My goal is for you to feel comfortable knowing that your pet is safe, happy, and well taken care of while you’re gone.
“Dana was wonderful! I had to delay my trip by a day because I got sick, and she was easy to work with and very understanding. She took great care of my girls and sent pictures and updates. My pups can’t wait to hang out with her again!”

“Kristen was everything we could have hoped for and more for our fur pups while we were away. I am always nervous leaving them but she had the best communication sending videos and pictures with updates. I could tell that they were happy and well cared for. We came home to a very clean house and pups and we will definitely be asking for Kristen again. Thank you for the best time for us all during our vacation. :)”

“Phoebe loved her stay with Kimberly! We received so many pictures of them walking together and Phoebe snuggled with Kimberly. She also went above and beyond to take our garbage out, strip the linens and leave the house cleaner than we left it! We will definitely be using Kimberly for any needs in the future. She was communicative, flexible, and most importantly reliable. I felt really good about leaving Phoebe with her. Thank you so much!”

“Beckie took wonderful care of our furry family member and our house while we were away. We won't hesitate to contact her for all of our dog watching needs from here on. Thank you Beckie!”

“Ellyn was wonderful with Gretel on her overnight stay. Ellyn communicates well, operates like clockwork and was quick to win over my spirited 2-yr-old German Shepherd. I know Gretel was comfortable and happy with Ellyn while I was away because while she was excited to see me when I got home she wasn’t frantic. Gives me great peace of mind. I’ll definitely be booking Ellyn again. Highly recommend.”

“Jen was amazing! This was our first time leaving our dog at our home. Jen was great at communication, lots of pictures, stayed in touch. Jen went ABOVE and beyond being very flexible Sunday evening when our flight was 5 hours delayed. Those are the stressful moments that a great human and dog sitter can make a huge difference and we are so appreciative of her.”

“We are so grateful for Jess! She did an amazing job with our little fur baby Khloe. She made sure that Khloe felt loved and happy while we were away. She also left the home in great condition and clean. I will definitely hire Jess again.”

“Ola was fantastic with our furry family! We booked for a week over the holidays and she was accommodating for a meet and greet quickly, and an easy transition from us to her as we took off. We have senior dogs so extra care is important and we could tell they took to her right away. Would definitely book again!”

“Kim was amazing! She followed buck’s schedule to a T even with his early wake up time. She went above and beyond to keep us informed throughout the day and sent many pictures. We will definitely be using her again in the near future!”

“Michael was our first rover experience, and was able to watch our 9yo Husky and 8mo golden retriever on short notice. Michael came ahead of time to meet the dogs and learn our routine, and then communicated when he’d be at the house, sent lots of pictures, and spent plenty of time with the dogs. Really appreciate how easy this was, when we would otherwise have to board our dogs, coordinate pick up times, etc. Will definitely use Michael again!”

“Azucena was so helpful and dependable. She helped me out in a pinch while I unexpectedly had to travel more than usual. I'd absolutely recommend her and I'm grateful for her help!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Cardiff-by-the-Sea
Grace was great. We did a meet and greet before to check if everything seemed like a good match. She was kind and friendly to my pups. When away on my trip, she communicated daily and sent pictures. I loved the daily pics! My dogs seemed happy and well-cared for during her visit. And she left my house nice and tidy and the end of her stay, which is always a plus! 😁

Kylie did an amazing job dog sitting our dog for over a week. She sent us pics, took her to all her favorite parks, watered our plants and left the house really clean. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who wants their dog to get a lot of attention and care!

So thrilled I found Kate - she was amazing with my two big dogs and was a huge help with our home while we were out of town. Highly recommend her for anything you need. She even had to help with some unexpected medication for one of my dogs and she had no issues taking care of him. Will definitely rebook!
Lori is outstanding. She took care of my 3 year old for 5 nights and days, and administered medication throughout the stay. She kept in regular communication so I could see photos of how my dog was doing, and left a sparkling house upon return. Dependable, consistent and high quality service from Lori!

Crystal saved us for a last minute weekend trip! She promptly set up a meet and greet and was able to house/dog sit for us the next day. She was so kind and caring with our dog. She sent frequent pictures and videos and our house was well cleaned when we returned home to our happy pup. Highly recommend her!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cardiff-by-the-Sea walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cardiff-by-the-Sea maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cardiff-by-the-Sea choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
