“Sarah was wonderful and took such great care of our little guy while we were gone! She gave me daily updates and we were so relieved to have her there! She took great care of our home as well! “Danielle took great care of our senior dog! She was easy to communicate with, followed our instructions, and kept the house in good shape. We were thankful that she had availablility during the holidays as well.”

“Eli was so great with Brew! We were able to enjoy our vacation knowing Brew was in good hands. He kept him active with hikes and was happy to give Brew company. Eli was timely and responsible and we will definitely use him again to help with Brew. Thank you!”

“I can't sing enough praises for Dana, who stayed looked after our home and pets or a whole month while we were out of the country. Throughout our time away, Dana kept us updated with the perfect balance of messages, and let me tell you, her updates were more than just routine check-ins. They were filled with anecdotes and little details that showed she truly got to know our pets. Her fun responses made it clear that she was spending quality time with them, making sure they felt loved and cared for in our absence. But it wasn't just our pets Dana took care of; she treated our home with the same love and respect. Coming back to a house that was not only well taken care of but also perfectly clean was amazing! It was evident that Dana went above and beyond to ensure everything was just right. Finding someone you trust to look after your furry family members is no easy feat, but with Dana, we hit the jackpot. Knowing that she's there to take care of our pets gives us such peace of mind when we're away. If you're searching for a pet sitter who will treat your animals like family, look no further than Dana – we couldn't have asked for anyone better!”
“Mckinley did a great job taking care of our older lab and young one year old lab. She kept their routine and spent time at home with them so they could stay out and play. I was updated regularly and felt completely confident that they were happy and safe:)”

“Kira and her mom took absolutely amazing care of our sweet older doggie. They stayed on top of her medication, kept us updated on how much food she was eating and made sure she got lots of attention. They also left our house immaculate. Thanks so much Kira!”
“First time Rover user, first time pet owner. I was very apprehensive about leaving my kitten with a stranger, but with travel plans already booked, I joined Rover and searched for a sitter. Though Madeline did not have a ton of reviews, her rate was extremely competitive and the reviews she did have, were very positive. So I jumped into the deep end and am very glad I went with Madeline. She lived fairly close by so it was easy to do a meet/greet and drop off my keys with her. She was very personable and my kitten warmed up to her very quickly at the meet/greet. She followed through on all her commitments, showing up on time and providing exceptional care to my kitten. She provided daily updates along with pictures. When my travel plans changed, Madeline was right there to assist us with Stoner's care. I would highly, highly recommend Madeline to take care of your loved one while you are away. I plan on using her again in the very near future and I am glad to have found someone I can rely on to care for my kitten. THANK YOU so much Madeline!!!!”

“Nicole did an excellent job of taking care of our two Great Danes! She showed up on time and spent the entire day with them while we were away. And she sent us updates & photos a few times. We'll definitely hire her again.”

“I had to leave town & I needed a schedule a sitter at the last minute Campbell came through for me. She is a very nice young lady & my boys loved her! She did a great job, I highly recommend Campbell!”

“Ellyn was great with our rescue Labradoodle. She is wary of new people but liked Ellyn at our meet and greet. Ellyn sent daily action shots and coordinated with us. We highly recommend Ellyn!”

“Beckie did a great job babysitting Lana. She is reliable and communicated well along the way. My dog acts as if I hadn’t even left which is a great endorsement of Beckie coming straight from my pet :)”
“Love Reshini! She took such great care of our frenchie. Send photos and videos everyday. Gave lots of love, walks and even a bath bc my dog has a skin condition and needs bathing often. She went above and beyond our expectations. Will definitely be asking her to pet sit again!”

“Wendy is Amazing . Super punctual and very patient w my high energy/ playful gsd. No negative remarks I heard from her though my dog charge when she enters the door. I will definitely book w her again. Thank you Wendy🙏”

About: I've taken care of aggressive dogs, dogs with special medical needs, and everything in between. I am reliable, communicative, and I love being with animals. As a teacher, I get summer vacations, so I have a free schedule to devote to petsitting. I'm available on weekdays and weekends, for short or long periods. I have experience taking care older dogs, and I'm also comfortable around dogs with behavioral problems. In every case, I'm attentive to the animal's needs.
“Crystal was amazing! She helped us last minute and worked with our changing schedule. She did a good job of accommodating all of Roxxys needs. I can tell that Roxxy made a new friend! I would definitely recommend her!”

“Jordan is a wonderful sitter. She looked after my senior dog and followed all instructions and made sure he was cared for. She was respectful of our home and I appreciated the frequent updates and photos.”

About: I have grown up with dogs my entire life, a chihuahua and now a golden retriever who is 5. I love all animals and pets and have experience walking neighbors dogs 4x per week. I am an avid walker and love walking dogs and have walked multiple dogs at a time. I am considerate, cleanly and will take great care of your pets and home. My family and I spent 2 summers fostering dogs from Helen Woodward Animal Center. Fostering consisted of taking care of puppies, adult dogs for 1 - 2 timeframes until the pets were ready to go up for adoption. This taught me a lot about caring for animals and giving medication, if needed. Last, I also have experience with Female Athlete Volunteer (FAV) organization and have volunteered at senior care facilities during events. I am currently a full time Senior in high school and have class from 9am-4pm Monday through Friday. I am available in the mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends. Once summer starts, I am available full time Monday through Sunday. Since I’m still in high school, I only care for pets in my client’s home so they can stay in a place where they’re already comfortable and used to. I try to keep their routine as normal as possible such as feeding them on schedule, making sure they get enough walks and playtime, and giving them lots of attention so they don’t feel stressed while their owner is away. I’m very mindful about safety as I like keeping doors and gates secure and locked, using leashes on walks, and making sure they don’t get into anything they shouldn’t. I will also be respectful of your home and keep things clean, follow any instructions you leave, and will send updates or photos so you know your pet is doing well. My goal is for you to feel comfortable knowing that your pet is safe, happy, and well taken care of while you’re gone.
“Jacob was great! He took great care of Chuck for me and even did extra stuff around the house I didn't ask for. The house looked better than when I left and was very clean. I will for sure look to use Jacob again in the future!”

“Very communicative. I received daily photos and videos. The pups seemed happy and our youngest found a lap to lay on. Bob played with both dogs and seemed to really start to learn their personalities”

Paige was absolutely wonderful with King! She took great care of him, made sure he got plenty of walks and attention, and kept me updated. King can be a strong dog, and it was clear she was confident and comfortable handling him, which gave me a lot of peace of mind. I truly appreciated the love and attention she gave him. I wouldn't hesitate to book with Paige again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and capable dog sitter!

Kylie did an amazing job dog sitting our dog for over a week. She sent us pics, took her to all her favorite parks, watered our plants and left the house really clean. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who wants their dog to get a lot of attention and care!

Ari is fantastic! She is incredibly punctual and reliable, which brought me so much peace of mind. Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Rancho Santa Fe walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Rancho Santa Fe maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rancho Santa Fe choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
