About: Pet lover with many years of experience in caring for dogs and cats. Since childhood, I have been surrounded by animals, and my love for them has only grown over the years. My life would be incomplete without these faithful and loving friends. I organize regular and varied walks, taking into account the needs of each dog. I know how to control the dog on a leash and ensure safety during walks. I like to see my dogs enjoy time outdoors and socialize with other animals. My goal is to provide my pets with the best care and quality of life. I strive to create a loving and supportive environment for them, where they can be happy, healthy and active. My love for animals inspires me every day, and I am ready to share my experience and knowledge with those who also care about their four-legged friends. I understand that each of us has moments when we need to go somewhere or just don't have enough time for a full walk with a pet. At such moments, I am always ready to help. My doors are open at any time, and I will be happy to walk your dog, providing it with the necessary physical activity and care. Pet lover with many years of experience in caring for dogs and cats. “Crystal was amazing! She helped us last minute and worked with our changing schedule. She did a good job of accommodating all of Roxxys needs. I can tell that Roxxy made a new friend! I would definitely recommend her!”

“Danielle was great sitter for our anxious dog. She was friendly and flexible to our changing scheduling needs. She quickly made him comfortable and it was obvious he was missing her as she left.”

“Kaylan was an amazing sitter from start to finish! If my dogs could write this rating, I’m sure they’d give her 5 stars. She sent frequent updates, lots of pictures, and wasn’t afraid to ask questions whenever she needed clarification, which gave me peace of mind. She even took my pups on little adventures to explore new parks and treated them to pup cups, with permission of course! It’s obvious they were cared for, and got lots of love and attention while we were away at work. I came home to 2 happy pups and a cared for home. Would definitely recommend Kaylan for a reliable, caring sitter and happily booking her again!”

“Bob was an amazing sitter for our corgi and husky! He was on time for both the meet & greet and the actual booking, and was very professional and kind throughout the entire experience. He sent us multiple daily updates, photos, and videos, and it was clear both dogs were getting lots of playtime, attention, and love. Our corgi usually gets extra emotional when we come home, but this time she seemed so happy and relaxed, which really showed us how well cared for they were. Our house was also left in great condition. We’re very happy with Bob and will definitely book with him again!”

“Logan was fantastic! Very punctual, sent updates throughout his stay with Lucky! He was a phenomenal house guest and left our place the way he found it! His care and attention left me at ease while on a trip away from my dog. Would absolutely book Logan again!”

“Carly did a great job staying with our two dogs for 11 nights. She was communicative and reliable. Our dogs were happy and looked great when we got home. We will definitely ask her to stay with them again.”

About: I’m a reliable and active pet sitter who enjoys spending time with animals and keeping them engaged. I’m consistent with routines like feeding, walks, and playtime, and I’m attentive to each pet’s needs and personality. Whether your dog needs exercise or your pet just needs company and care, I make sure they feel safe and comfortable. I take pride in being responsible, communicative, and treating every pet like it’s my own. I have a flexible schedule and can consistently make time for pet care throughout the day. I’m available for walks, drop-ins, and sitting, including weekends. Being active, I enjoy spending time outside with dogs, but I also make sure all pets get the attention, routine, and care they need to stay comfortable and happy. I prioritize safety, consistency, and clear communication. I follow all instructions closely, including feeding routines, medications if needed, and any specific care details. I make sure pets are always in a secure environment and never left unattended in unsafe situations. I pay attention to behavior and keep owners updated so they feel confident their pet is in good hands.

“Kelcy did a great job watching our dogs and cats and housesitting. The pets were calm and happy when we came back. She was able to manage complicated medications and did a great job. The pets love her and she has such a kind way with them.”

“I was so nervous about leaving my dog with a stranger for 3 days, but Claudia went above and beyond to make me feel at ease. She was kind enough to meet my dog beforehand to make sure it was a good fit—and my dog loved her instantly. She even rolled over for belly rubs, which she never does for anyone new! While I was away, Claudia sent me tons of photos and videos, which made me feel so connected. I had left very specific door-training instructions (my dog must sit before the door is opened, and the hallway must be cleared before the release command). Claudia followed these perfectly, which was really important to me for safety and consistency. When I came home, my house was spotless—honestly cleaner than when I left. Even my Brita was filled to the top! And the sweetest surprise of all: it was my dog’s birthday while I was away, and Claudia threw her a mini birthday party. She sent me photos of my dog in rainbow birthday hats, a princess sash, with balloons and a new toy. It meant the world to me to see someone else celebrate my dog with so much love. She also shared the cutest little updates, like how my dog would wake up around 2 or 3 a.m., give her a kiss, then go back to bed. It’s the small details like that that showed me she truly cared and kept our routine. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. My dog adored her, and I’ve already recommended Claudia to my coworkers. I’ll definitely be hiring her again—not just for overnight stays but for occasional walks too, so they can keep their sweet bond going.”

About: I’ve grown up with dogs ever since I could remember. They’ve always been a major part of my life. I’ve pet/house sat countless times for neighbors and family friends. Your dog will be in safe hands with me! As of right now I am free whenever for whatever! I am just not available to board at my place right now. Currently looking for a summer job. When pet/house sitting, I always make sure the house is safe and all the animals and plants are taken care of. Perhaps some snacks may go missing however…
About: I have two dogs of my own, and have grown up my entire life around animals. I've done work in equine care and facilitating young children around animals. I am a full time college student so I do have classes that I have to attend. I am available all day weekends and Fridays. Feel free to ask me what my current weekday schedule looks like and how it would fit best with yours. I can provide walking, feeding, house sitting, and even overnight sitting if requested. I love animals of all kinds and I can't wait to meet yours.

About: Hello! I am an animal lover who has recently relocated to the SD area. I regularly have sat for family, friends, and word of mouth recommendations for over a decade. I have cared for pets as small as tree frogs to a home with multiple large pit bull mixes, to a diabetic cat in need of insulin injections twice a day. Whatever type of pet you have I promise to love them as much as I love my own! I am currently at home full time. I regularly take walks to get out of the house and would love to have a companion join me! I love animals and couldn’t imagine spending my day in a better way than with them! I do have my own cat which means for multi day jobs I would occasionally want to visit her (my partner is there to care for her) but I am available to spend majority of the time at a clients home. I have a fenced back yard for your animal to run around in. I would keep your pet in the living room and kitchen are with me while I leave the bedrooms for my cat. I love going on walks so I will be more than happy to take your dogs out with me ( no dog parks or off leash areas).
“Nelsybeth did an amazing job with our Copper. She kept us updated and sent photos and videos which were so greatly appreciated. I would highly recommend her and will definitely ask her to care for Copper next time.”

“Vivian was super reliable, a pleasure to work with and did a fantastic job with our fiesty rover! She also looked after our property well, gave medications as instructed and scheduled, and took exceptional care of our pet. She was available to chat when messaged and sent great photos too! Definitely will use her services in the near future!”

“Thank you Tiffany for being so great with our pups. She saved us last minute when our sitter cancelled the day before our trip. She kept us constantly updated and sent tons of adorable pics. We felt very comfortable having Tiffany stay and look forward to having her for our next adventure.”

“Lauren is genuinely the best! We’ve been traveling a lot more than usual and it’s always hard leaving our fur babies but we know when Lauren is with them they’re having the best time and she’s treating them like they’re her own! Our dog & kitty get sooo excited to see her. She always keeps us updated with pictures & always leaves our place cleaner than the way we left it! If you’re looking for someone to love on your fur babies, keep them safe & spoil them, then you’ve found your perfect person!”

“Luis was the first sitter we’ve ever used on Rover and we continue to use him whenever we can! He truly gives us a peace of mind while we are away knowing our dogs are in great care. Thanks always Luis”

“Anna was amazing, not only did she show up on time, but she sent me several check ins throughout the night. She made sure that I knew that my Furkid was happy and safe. She followed the directions I left for her to the T. Anna was extremely punctual and professional. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is in need of pet sitting. She was the epitome of a perfect pet sitter. I will definitely book her again ❤️”

Madeline did a great job pet sitting our 3 fur babies! We have a dog, cat, and senior rabbit and she did great with all 3 of them. She had really great communication which I appreciated and she was punctual and polite :) she also made sure to send daily pics of our pets which was very appreciated. Would definitely recommend and we will absolutely be re booking with her for future stays :)

Logan did a great job. He is very prompt, responsive and courteous from our meet and greet to the actual dog sitting. We came in from out of town and booked him to watch our little dog while we attended a funeral. She’s not the friendliest. He did a great job. If we are ever back in town we would hire him again. We highly recommend.

Van Nhi was a great dog and house sitter! She watched over our dog for 2 weeks and sent us photo updates daily. She went above and beyond by taking her on more than the number of walks we usually do and also taking her on hikes. Our dog can be shy but she quickly adjusted to Van Nhi. We will definitely book her again!

Bihua was amazing! Even though we had to book last minute, she was able to come over and meet Roxxy before we left. She took Roxxy on fun hikes and made sure she had plenty of love and attention, giving us picture updates along the way. She even got Roxxy some new treats. Overall, Bihua went above and beyond!

Fatima was extremely friendly, and our dogs seemed happy to see her when she visited which we really appreciated. That being said, there were a few things that didn’t quite line up with our expectations. We had gone over ideal daily routine (walks/feeds around 7:30–8am, noon, and 5pm) and asked that the dogs not be left alone for more than about 3 hours at a time if possible. Most visits started later-sometimes not until 11am or later- and once there was a long stretch (about 8 hours) between visits. She didn’t stay overnight, which was fine with us/we completely understand the preference, but we had hoped for more in-person time overall based on the request and our conversations. Upon returning home, we found that our senior dogs left eye (who has no eyelids and requires eye drops each day) was red and inflamed, and covered in gunk. Totally understand that he is a handful and nobody will be able to do the drops and clean as anally as me hah- but I do feel sad that there was no notice of how inflamed and painful his left eye was. She VERY very kindly agreed to a discounted rate in exchange for us offering full access to our guest room, community pool, AC, and streaming services. Overall, while the dogs were safe and she was lovely to interact with, things didn’t quite go as we had hoped. Maybe just suggest being extra clear and aligned on desired schedules and expectations upfront to prevent this.

FAQs for House Sitting - Poway
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Poway on Rover is $53.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 7,100 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Poway. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Poway walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Poway maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Poway choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Poway. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
