“David and Beth did a great job looking after our pets while we were away. They were understanding and flexible when a few unexpected things came up, which really put us at ease. We appreciated their care and would be happy to have them look after our pets again in the future!”

“Anna was great! This was a long time for us to be away from our dogs so I was nervous but Anna made me feel comfortable every step of the way. She really took the time to get to know our dogs and went above and beyond. We will definitely reach out for future bookings! Thanks again Anna!”

“Paris was great with all our pets. She sent photos and regular updates so we didn’t worry. She also let us know when she completed tasks that we asked her to do (mail, trash, pay the gardener). We will definitely use her services again!”

“Kate housesat for our pups so we could attend a last minute trip out of town. I love the updates and pictures. She even made them homemade treats! I know my pups are happy when we're home but they always look for her after she's left!”

“Africa did amazing with our little boy. He has big separation anxiety. She was patient, kind, and provided several updates throughout the day. Aside from family members she is the only other person we trust with our dog. Will definitely be using her services again!”

“Belinda is AMAZING. I had some many neighbors text me while I was gone saying they loved her and she was taking such good care of my pup. She took him for all the walks and play dates at our community dog park with his friends. She will also send you amazing pics of your fur baby! I can’t recommend Belinda enough! 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

About: I’ve been a dog person for as long as I can remember. We got our first pup when I was 5 and I’ve been obsessed ever since. I’m always the person who finds the dog first at someone’s house, and my camera roll is probably 90% pictures of animals at this point. I’ve lived with dogs for about 30 years and have been around all kinds of personalities, from high-energy pups to sleepy seniors. I really just love getting to know each dog and what makes them them. I also have experience reinforcing basic commands and working with professionally trained dogs, so I’m comfortable following whatever training methods and cues you already use at home. I’m familiar with e-collars as well and am comfortable using owner-provided training tools when that’s already part of your dog’s routine. I’m a remote designer and small business owner, so my schedule is really flexible and I can spend plenty of time with the pets I’m watching. I also do home organization and build organizing systems, so I’m naturally pretty tidy and respectful of other people’s spaces. Mostly, I just want your pets to feel happy and comfortable while you’re gone, and for you to be able to relax knowing they’re being well taken care of. I work remotely and run my own small business, so my schedule is super flexible. I can work around your pet’s normal routine and I’m around a lot during the day. Walks, meals, potty breaks, playtime, or just hanging out while I work all fit pretty naturally into my day. I try to keep things as normal as possible for your pets while you’re gone. I’ll follow their usual routine, feeding schedule, house rules, and anything else you normally do with them. I’m also really respectful of people’s homes and always want you to feel comfortable knowing both your pets and your home are being taken care of.
“Another great house and dog sitting experience with Mark. I have an older dog and a puppy so some unique care needs and I am so happy I can rely on Mark to keep them both happy while I am away.”

About: I took care of 'Beau', a very large white American Retriever. He is the sweetest! I was temporary mom to Elsie, a huuuuuge Great Dane lady. You can see images of me and Elsie in my profile. I took care of a home and Chester (Tabby Male Kitty), Luna (Black Female Kitty) and their dog sister SnoBella. I watched these 3 for several months while their mama was recovering from illness. You can see images of SnoBella, Chester, Luna and I walking. The kitties loved to walk with SnoBella and me. I am also a plant mom. My own home — which is cared for by my daughter when I'm gone — contains 3 indoor trees and over 10 live plants, as well as a Gardyn indoor garden. I consider my plants also sort of my babies and will take care of yours as well. I work remotely, which allows me to spend much of the day with the pets in my care. Because I'm home throughout the day, I can provide companionship, maintain their normal routine, and keep a close eye on their well-being. Many pets enjoy relaxing nearby while I work, whether that's a cat curled up in my lap or a dog snoozing by my desk. If your pet is allowed outside I sometimes enjoy sitting on the patio and letting them roam the yard while I work. I keep pets on their normal routine as much as possible. My day includes feeding, fresh water, litter box cleaning or potty breaks, playtime, walks, and plenty of affection. Since I work remotely, pets often keep me company throughout the day, whether that's a cat in my lap or a dog at my feet. If approved by the pet parent, I'm also happy to let pets sleep with me so they feel safe and comfortable while you're away.
“We had a last minute cancelation for a dog sitter. Holly was able to house and dog sit with short notice while we were out of the country. Our fur-babies were well taken care of. Will use Holly again!”

About: I have experience with both dogs and cats in a home setting. Having two dogs and one cat of my own I am very familiar with all of their needs. If you’re loving for an extended member to take care of your baby as their own look no further and get ready for the pictures! I work M-F from 8:30am to 4:30 pm. Fridays off at 4pm or earlier. Thereafter I have complete attention on your fur baby. I love to go on walk (dogs & cats) In my own home I let my dogs & cat enjoy my bed, I have a couple of cat trees for my cat. About: I used to be a cat person decades ago. Now I became a dog person. Pets love me because I love them and know them well. I’m free most of time except Sunday morning going to church. When school starts I’m free after 4:00pm. There are three vacation a year for me. Spring break , winter vacation and summer vacation I’m free. I live in a safety and comfort community. I have my own living room and bathroom. My home is very clean and tidy. Streets are quiet and clean.

About: I have had cats and dogs my entire life. I have taken care of over 30 foster cats and had 6 dogs. While much of my experience is with cats, I have taken care of dogs from Yorkies to Akitas. I work seasonally in the winter, so my schedule is very open until November 1st. I can come by at the owner's preferred times and stay as needed. When I care for pets, I do my best not to disrupt their routine so that their schedule is at least familiar. I try to get as much info from the owners beforehand about play preferences, medication schedules if needed, what the average day looks like for their pet, or any boundaries so I can keep their fur babie's lives as uninterrupted as possible.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Escondido
Belinda is our new go-to cat sitter! She was communicative throughout the entire stay, and took great care of our two babies like they were her own, even our more difficult cat who requires oral medication. We can’t wait for Belinda to watch them again for a longer stay in a couple of weeks 😊

Claudia is so caring and detailed. She will even come up with ideas for our pets to make them feel loved and special and runs everything by us first. We trust her implicit with our pets and in our home! She also even cleans up and leaves the house in a better condition than we even left it! She treats it like her own.

Had such a great experience with Lety! Before the booking even started, she offered to come out of her way for a meet-and-greet with our dog, just to make sure they’d get along. Our dog can get pretty anxious with new people, but she seemed to keep him calm and comfortable the whole time, and you could tell she really understood how to work with nervous dogs. She sent updates multiple times a day with photos, so we never had to wonder how he was doing. On top of that, she left our house just as tidy as we left it. Would absolutely book her again and recommend her to anyone!

Holly is absolutely amazing! She is reliable, communicative, and took such great care of our dogs. We received regular updates and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. Our dogs were happy, relaxed, and clearly very well cared for. We would absolutely book with Holly again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and attentive!

Monica was wonderful with our two very active and challenging pups. Our dogs are not very easy and she took took such great care of them and sent me regular updates. I was worried how it would go with Monica getting to the house when we were already gone but she handled it like a champ and made friends quickly with Jet and Brie. I will definitely use Monica again!

Highly, highly recommend Megan. She was so sweet and attentive to my two doodles. She walked them multiple times a day and brushed them like I asked. She stayed at my house and when I came back it was in perfect order. Megan is very kind and trustworthy. I will definitely be using her services again. Thank you Megan!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Escondido walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Escondido maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Escondido choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
