“Ellyn was great with our rescue Labradoodle. She is wary of new people but liked Ellyn at our meet and greet. Ellyn sent daily action shots and coordinated with us. We highly recommend Ellyn!”

“Marisol loved on my dogs like her own! She walked and played with them constantly and gave them lots of love. Couldn’t ask for a better communicator also sending me lots of pics. So appreciative of a caring pet taker. Definitely a good one Marisol 💕”

“This was my first time leaving my doggy for a long trip and I am so thankful I hired Stephanie!! She was amazing in all ways- she kept my worries at ease with constant communication, photos, and attentiveness to all my concerns and notes for my dog. I felt that she really bonded with my pup and treated her as if she were her own with tons of love. My dog was so thrilled with her. She also left my place spotless clean. I would hire her back in a second and recommend her to anyone !”

“First time Rover user, first time pet owner. I was very apprehensive about leaving my kitten with a stranger, but with travel plans already booked, I joined Rover and searched for a sitter. Though Madeline did not have a ton of reviews, her rate was extremely competitive and the reviews she did have, were very positive. So I jumped into the deep end and am very glad I went with Madeline. She lived fairly close by so it was easy to do a meet/greet and drop off my keys with her. She was very personable and my kitten warmed up to her very quickly at the meet/greet. She followed through on all her commitments, showing up on time and providing exceptional care to my kitten. She provided daily updates along with pictures. When my travel plans changed, Madeline was right there to assist us with Stoner's care. I would highly, highly recommend Madeline to take care of your loved one while you are away. I plan on using her again in the very near future and I am glad to have found someone I can rely on to care for my kitten. THANK YOU so much Madeline!!!!”

“Amy was amazing! Not only were our crazy fur babies taken care of so well, she also made sure to send daily updates and photos, and she made sure to not leave a mess in the guest room and kitchen (very important in my opinion). We will most definitely use Amy again!”

“Cary did an outstanding job taking care of our house and our energetic Cattle Dog! Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, caring and responsible dog sitter!”

“Jordan is a wonderful sitter. She looked after my senior dog and followed all instructions and made sure he was cared for. She was respectful of our home and I appreciated the frequent updates and photos.”

“Mckinley did a great job taking care of our older lab and young one year old lab. She kept their routine and spent time at home with them so they could stay out and play. I was updated regularly and felt completely confident that they were happy and safe:)”

“Chloe was awesome! She made sure my pups were well taken care of and my house was very clean and neat when I got back. She was communicative and wanted to make sure she took care of my dogs properly. Very happy I booked her for my last minute pet sitter need!”

“Emily was great with our two big dogs! She followed their schedule, sent lots of updates, and left the house spotless. She even handled an unfortunate encounter with an aggressive off leash dog like a champ, notifying me immediately and prioritizing their care throughout. We appreciate Emily’s commitment and will ask her to sit again!”

“Brooke was excellent! She took great care of our cats including giving insulin injections to our stubborn diabetic one! We look forward to having her care for our cats again!”
“I highly recommend Luke to take care of your furry family. Our dog is wary of strange men at the outset but she warmed up to Luke very quickly. This was our first vacation away from her since we rescued her so we weren't sure how she'd handle the change in caretakers but she did better than I expected. Luke was responsive and sent daily pics and updates. He was also great at watching our house for us while we were out of town. Thanks Luke!”

About: I love every animal as if they’re my own! I’ve grown up surround by animals my entire life, so pet sitting was a no brainer! I have experience with both Cats, dogs, kittens, puppies, & seniors! I work full time but can try to make anything work around my schedule! I am a manager, so I get to make my own work hours. In the past, I’ll be able to walk dogs on my lunch breaks - or if needed, I’ll take a break from work. I know animals are more than just pets and they deserve nothing but the best care. I like to stick to pet’s normal routines as much as possible (when walking or dog sitting). And I like to give as many belly rubs that I can get in (if possible)
“Johnathan is great! I recommend him with no hesitation whatsoever. He spent so much time walking the dogs, playing with them, or just relaxing with them. He learned their personalities and adapted his approach accordingly. He sent us lots of updates and pictures (which we loved). Our trip was so much better knowing how happy the dogs were with him! We will be calling him the next time we travel!”

“My dog Oscar is blind and deaf. Shelley took great care of him while I was away. After I returned, he went into her room to look for her. We are looking forward to a return visit.”
“Eliza was amazing with Hamachi. We recently adopted him and he has some separation anxiety. We wanted to go to a concert and it was our first time leaving him with a sitter. From the moment Eliza sat with him, he seemed at ease. Eliza is very personable, easy going, and caring. We enjoyed our date night knowing Hamachi was in good hands. We were running a little late coming home and Eliza stayed with him until we got back and was very flexible about it.”

“Nataliya has been wonderful for our family while we are visiting the San Diego area on vacation. She has been willing to take Ember so that we can do some activities that puppies can’t join. She took Ember out to the beach to explore, and was fantastic with her specific needs (avoiding overstimulation, managing some bits of training that are still ongoing because she is a puppy). We really appreciate that Nataliya was available without tons of notice, and that she was able to watch Ember 1:1 because even though our pup loves playing with other dogs, she gets really anxious initially. For one-off engagements, it seemed more distress than it would be worth to go through introductions to other dogs. Thank you for Ember’s good day out and the help, Nataliya!”

About: I always honor and treat my clients like family. I especially love working with active, high energy dogs that are responsive to treats and training. Senior dogs and dogs with special needs also hold a special place in my heart. **Now offering both boarding and in-home care** A quick meet and greet is REQUIRED for all new clients to make sure my home is a good fit for your pup. Please allow time for that with your request, if applicable. I'm home most of the day. It's easy for me to take a break from what I'm doing to play with your pup, go for a walk around the block, or out to the park for some fun. There are so many fun places to explore in and around Solana Beach and Del Mar. I may leave for an hour or two during the day for yoga or the gym.
The median cost per night for house sitting in Solana Beach is $63

Grace was great. We did a meet and greet before to check if everything seemed like a good match. She was kind and friendly to my pups. When away on my trip, she communicated daily and sent pictures. I loved the daily pics! My dogs seemed happy and well-cared for during her visit. And she left my house nice and tidy and the end of her stay, which is always a plus! 😁

Kylie did an amazing job dog sitting our dog for over a week. She sent us pics, took her to all her favorite parks, watered our plants and left the house really clean. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who wants their dog to get a lot of attention and care!

Rachel is very experienced with dogs, especially large dogs. Ours is particular; Rachel got down on her level at their first meeting, and it was all good from there on! She kept us updated with photos and notes during her stay. I will definitely call Rachel the next time we need a dog sitter!

Leah was the dog whisperer we so needed to care for our elderly, anxiety ridden, blind, fuzzy child. Her prior booking meet and greet was critical to the success of the care she gave. In addition, her training as a Vet Tech gave us additional comfort for the special needs our dog requires. Patient, understanding, compassionate and dependable. Leah will be the top of our list for any future dog sitting needs.

Lori is outstanding. She took care of my 3 year old for 5 nights and days, and administered medication throughout the stay. She kept in regular communication so I could see photos of how my dog was doing, and left a sparkling house upon return. Dependable, consistent and high quality service from Lori!

Barbara was excellent with our two kitties. She went above and beyond and made us feel comfortable knowing that they were in great hands while we were away. She really knows cats and is very in tune to their needs. She sent us lots of pictures, was very communicative, and was respectful of our home and space. Can’t recommend her enough.

Kaylee is an absolute gem with our Jerry! She made us feel incredibly at ease, knowing that he was in capable hands during her four-day stay at our place. Her communication was excellent, and she took exceptional care of our five-month-old puppy. To top it off, she left the house spotless! I wholeheartedly recommend Kaylee for any sitter situation. She’s an exceptional choice!

Ari is fantastic! She is incredibly punctual and reliable, which brought me so much peace of mind. I especially appreciated her patience and willingness to work with our quirky pup; she handled his unique personality perfectly. As a bit of an anxious dog mom myself, Ari’s communication and care really helped me feel at ease. We can’t recommend her enough!

Kelly was a WONDERFUL pet sitter! She was flexible with our travel plans and spent significant time with our pups. She took them on multiple daily walks and they slept with her at night. They were calm and content upon our return, which is how I know they were truly cared for. I highly recommend Kelly to care for your pets!!!

What a blessing to find Sophia. She went over and above taking care of our anxious, clingy dog for 12 days. Photos were sent daily along with updates and upon our return home, the house was exaclty as we had left it and our dog looked fantastic. Book Sophia if you can however do not book her when we need her😂

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Solana Beach walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Solana Beach maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Solana Beach choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Solana Beach. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
