“Mckinley did a great job taking care of our older lab and young one year old lab. She kept their routine and spent time at home with them so they could stay out and play. I was updated regularly and felt completely confident that they were happy and safe:)”

“Eli is the best! He is a great communicator and sends pics of your pets having fun. He follows care instructions. We have him stay at the house. When we return the house is always cleaner then we left it. Our animals water is full and the kitty litter clean upon our return. Book him quick, his schedule fills up!”

“Ellyn was wonderful with Gretel on her overnight stay. Ellyn communicates well, operates like clockwork and was quick to win over my spirited 2-yr-old German Shepherd. I know Gretel was comfortable and happy with Ellyn while I was away because while she was excited to see me when I got home she wasn’t frantic. Gives me great peace of mind. I’ll definitely be booking Ellyn again. Highly recommend.”

“Mari was a great help, very gracious & took care of our dogs and our home wonderfully. Dogs had a major accident on day 1 (horrible way to start a stay!!!) and Mari quickly communicated the issue and handled it without problem. We are grateful for that and giving us peace of mind while we were gone. Thank you!!”

“Natsuko took wonderful care of Teddy today. She read through the care instructions carefully and followed them closely, and she sent us photos almost every hour — which we really appreciated. Teddy was in great hands, and we’d happily book her again.”

About: I have grown up with dogs my entire life, a chihuahua and now a golden retriever who is 5. I love all animals and pets and have experience walking neighbors dogs 4x per week. I am an avid walker and love walking dogs and have walked multiple dogs at a time. I am considerate, cleanly and will take great care of your pets and home. My family and I spent 2 summers fostering dogs from Helen Woodward Animal Center. Fostering consisted of taking care of puppies, adult dogs for 1 - 2 timeframes until the pets were ready to go up for adoption. This taught me a lot about caring for animals and giving medication, if needed. Last, I also have experience with Female Athlete Volunteer (FAV) organization and have volunteered at senior care facilities during events. I am currently a full time Senior in high school and have class from 9am-4pm Monday through Friday. I am available in the mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends. Once summer starts, I am available full time Monday through Sunday. Since I’m still in high school, I only care for pets in my client’s home so they can stay in a place where they’re already comfortable and used to. I try to keep their routine as normal as possible such as feeding them on schedule, making sure they get enough walks and playtime, and giving them lots of attention so they don’t feel stressed while their owner is away. I’m very mindful about safety as I like keeping doors and gates secure and locked, using leashes on walks, and making sure they don’t get into anything they shouldn’t. I will also be respectful of your home and keep things clean, follow any instructions you leave, and will send updates or photos so you know your pet is doing well. My goal is for you to feel comfortable knowing that your pet is safe, happy, and well taken care of while you’re gone.

“Wow, what a life saver! Marisol is exactly who we needed during an important week visiting family. Our senior Lab had trouble walking and eating so very limited choices. We were running out of options with only days to find a solution. After reaching out to multiple potential sitters, only Marisol came through for us. Marisol is not only great with dogs, but very quickly understand their owners too :) She took amazing care of our home and of course our dog. Lots of updates and pics. Can't recommend her enough. Professional and caring!”

“Jacob was great! He took great care of Chuck for me and even did extra stuff around the house I didn't ask for. The house looked better than when I left and was very clean. I will for sure look to use Jacob again in the future!”

“Love Reshini! She took such great care of our frenchie. Send photos and videos everyday. Gave lots of love, walks and even a bath bc my dog has a skin condition and needs bathing often. She went above and beyond our expectations. Will definitely be asking her to pet sit again!”

“Dana is an amazing Rover sitter! My three dogs absolutely adore her. She’s reliable, flexible, and really sensitive to each of their needs. I always come home to a clean house and happy pups. Dana follows instructions perfectly and keeps me updated with messages and cute photos, which I really appreciate. I’m a repeat client and will continue booking with her—she’s the best!”

“Luis did a terrific job taking care of our dogs (and chickens). He came very well-prepared to the meet and greet prior to his stay and we immediately felt comfortable having him care for our pets. Luis kept us up to date on how the dogs were doing throughout his stay, and we returned to happy pets and a clean home - thanks!”

“Our whole family is so thankful we found Kira. She house sat and took care of our dogs during a much needed weekend getaway, and she was simply fantastic! Enthusiastic 10/10, highly recommend. We’d hardly traveled since the pandemic started, lost touch with our trusted sitter, and just the idea of being away from our home and dogs was stressful. Kira put our minds at ease before we even left - the questions she asked showed real thoughtfulness and consideration, and that our dogs would be her only priority. Her contact while we were away was perfect; we had a completely worry-free weekend, start to finish. When we came home we could hardly tell anyone had been there - aside from the fact our dogs were no more frantic than if we’d just returned from a dinner date. Amazing. We can travel again! Thank you Kira!!!”

“Bob was an amazing sitter for our corgi and husky! He was on time for both the meet & greet and the actual booking, and was very professional and kind throughout the entire experience. He sent us multiple daily updates, photos, and videos, and it was clear both dogs were getting lots of playtime, attention, and love. Our corgi usually gets extra emotional when we come home, but this time she seemed so happy and relaxed, which really showed us how well cared for they were. Our house was also left in great condition. We’re very happy with Bob and will definitely book with him again!”

“Amazing pretty much sums up our experience with Jess. Her gentle kindness and thoughtful caring were evident from the first time we met her and were consistent through our three weeks away. She was focused on Hijo's physical and mental well being and we couldn't have been more grateful to have her taking care of him and our home while we were away.”

“Beckie is the best! She creatively solved problems with the housing situation, took amazing care of the animals, communicated extremely thoroughly and professionally. We hope to have another opportunity for her to care for our pack in the future!”

“Crystal was amazing! She helped us last minute and worked with our changing schedule. She did a good job of accommodating all of Roxxys needs. I can tell that Roxxy made a new friend! I would definitely recommend her!”

Grace was great. We did a meet and greet before to check if everything seemed like a good match. She was kind and friendly to my pups. When away on my trip, she communicated daily and sent pictures. I loved the daily pics! My dogs seemed happy and well-cared for during her visit. And she left my house nice and tidy and the end of her stay, which is always a plus! 😁

Kylie did an amazing job dog sitting our dog for over a week. She sent us pics, took her to all her favorite parks, watered our plants and left the house really clean. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who wants their dog to get a lot of attention and care!

Rachel is very experienced with dogs, especially large dogs. Ours is particular; Rachel got down on her level at their first meeting, and it was all good from there on! She kept us updated with photos and notes during her stay. I will definitely call Rachel the next time we need a dog sitter!

Lori is outstanding. She took care of my 3 year old for 5 nights and days, and administered medication throughout the stay. She kept in regular communication so I could see photos of how my dog was doing, and left a sparkling house upon return. Dependable, consistent and high quality service from Lori!

Barbara was excellent with our two kitties. She went above and beyond and made us feel comfortable knowing that they were in great hands while we were away. She really knows cats and is very in tune to their needs. She sent us lots of pictures, was very communicative, and was respectful of our home and space. Can’t recommend her enough.

Kaylee is an absolute gem with our Jerry! She made us feel incredibly at ease, knowing that he was in capable hands during her four-day stay at our place. Her communication was excellent, and she took exceptional care of our five-month-old puppy. To top it off, she left the house spotless! I wholeheartedly recommend Kaylee for any sitter situation. She’s an exceptional choice!

Ari is fantastic! She is incredibly punctual and reliable, which brought me so much peace of mind. I especially appreciated her patience and willingness to work with our quirky pup; she handled his unique personality perfectly. As a bit of an anxious dog mom myself, Ari’s communication and care really helped me feel at ease. We can’t recommend her enough!

Kelly was a WONDERFUL pet sitter! She was flexible with our travel plans and spent significant time with our pups. She took them on multiple daily walks and they slept with her at night. They were calm and content upon our return, which is how I know they were truly cared for. I highly recommend Kelly to care for your pets!!!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Solana Beach walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Solana Beach maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Solana Beach choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
