“Haowen took excellent care of Bandit. He sent frequent updates and when Bandit was reluctant to eat went out to get peanut butter to mix into his food. He also went to get a ball so Bandit could do his favorite activity of playing fetch. When it was time to get Bandit he was excited to see his mom and dad but then went back to Haowen to say goodbye, which is Bandit's way of saying thank you. Bandit gives a 5 PAWS rating and hopes he can visit again soon”

“Emily was great with our dog Reggie while we were away for a few days. She was quick to respond, flexible on timing, handled his medication schedule, and gave frequent updates. Would recommend her and use her again!”

“Christina was amazing! I booked last minute and she was eager to take care of Beru for the weekend. She sent lots of photo updates. Beru has some quirks and Christina was more than capable and happy to accommodate Beru’s personality. Would 100% book with her again!”

“Svetlana was amazing with Kaiser. She took amazing care of him and kept us up to date with all the activities during his stay. We received a lot of pictures and information on how he had spent each day. We really appreciate the love and attention that Svetlana showed towards Kaiser and we are looking forward to booking her again to take care of him!”

“Kathryn and Matthew took excellent care of my pup and treated him as if he were their own! I received daily updates with pictures and videos and always felt confident that my dog was in great hands! Highly recommend :)”

“We felt confident leaving Anchovy with Steve and Tiffany! They care so much about animals and have extensive knowledge of caring for all different ages and temperatures of dogs. We would leave Anchovy in their care again!”

“Elliot and his wife took great care of my dog during the first week-long trip I've taken without him. They were thoughtful and thorough during a meet-and-greet before the stay, provided photos and details all throughout the trip, and made sure he got back safely at the end of the week. I'll definitely be looking to book with them again for any future trips — thanks you two!”

“Sofia took excellent care of my monther-in-law's little dog! She sent lots of photos and videos, and went out of her way to make sure she was well taken care of. We will definitely book with her again!!!”

“Phillipa was wonderful. She took the time to understand my dogs needs which I’m very grateful for. Ava got plenty of love and exercise, and I can tell that she felt very safe and cared for during her stay. Thank you so much Phillipa!”

“Geraldine and her family were lovely. I felt totally safe leaving my dog with them over Christmas break. They sent photos of Monza snuggling in blankets and looking generally comfortable. They were super accommodating when I picked up my dog a day early. They were actually really sad to see him go. I would totally use Geraldine again.”

“Karoll was so great! She was very responsive and easy to communicate with. She took great care of our 8 year old anxious guy! Watson is staying with her again in a few weeks and I know he's looking forward to another stay!”

“Helen and Ji are so good with boy. They gave me videos and pics throughout the day. Cornelius came back running and playful, all the signs of a happy dog. They are my only doggysitters from now on!”

“Ilya was great with my Aussiedoodle during my first booking with him. He was very communicative during our meet & greet, ensuring he covered all care needs and consistently gave updates and pictures throughout the stay. Ilya lives next to a park and sent pictures of Aurey enjoying his daily walks. He had other dogs during the stay which he made sure I was comfortable with and it was great for Aurey’s socialization and high energy. Aurey enjoyed his time with Ilya and seemingly regretted leaving! Definitely recommend Ilya for future stays!”

“Olive's stay with Brendan was great. She was very comfortable and appeared relaxed. Brandon provided us with timely updates as well as photos. We will definitely use Brandon in the future.”

“Jennifer was absolutely wonderful with Lil’ Dan. We appreciated her communication, photo updates, and feedback on our boy. She was so patient with our dog, who is still young and learning manners. It was clear he had a wonderful weekend filled with adventure. This was also a last-minute request, so we were so grateful that our dog ended up in such great care.”

“Jim was a lifesaver. We needed someone to care for our dog while we were in Boston getting married. He gave us piece of mind by sending us a sweet video, he was super flexible, and was even willing to walk the dog to our venue so we could take photos with him. We are so grateful and will definitely rely on Jim again when we are in town.”

“We love Lauren! Thank you so much for taking such good care of Harper, sending such cute puppy pics, and being so flexible with pickup and drop off times! Harper doesn’t get along with other dogs and Lauren has been great about keeping her separate. We appreciate it so much!”

“Eddie was completely well-cared for by JP. He sent many photos of a happy dog playing with his happy pup. We feel very lucky to have found JP in our own neighborhood. We will definitely plan more boardings with JP and his pup and daughters in the future.”

“Once again a wonderful stay with Yesika! She helped us out last minute when our plans changed and we are so thankful. Bingo absolutely adores her and he always has a wonderful time. Would recommend her to anyone!”

Qingnan was amazing! She welcomed my very shy cat into her home patiently and took such great care of her, even with a last-minute and long term booking. She was very communicative and provided plenty of info and pictures to reassure me that my baby was doing okay. I would 100% book Qingnan again and recommend her to anyone who needs a cat-sitter!

Matias was fantastic with Canelo! He sent photos and updates throughout the stay, which I really appreciated. Canelo was a bit shy on day one but Matias made him feel right at home, and by the next morning he was confidently playing with other dogs. Pickup and dropoff were smooth and easy to coordinate. It’s clear Matias genuinely cares about the pups he watches. We’ll definitely be rebooking!

I highly recommend Krystal & William!! I have a mini-husky, Emmy, who loves to play with other dogs, but is shy and timid around humans. I recently moved to Boston and was very nervous finding a new sitter for Emmy. I talked to many other services and ended up going with Krystal upon meeting her in person - and she did an amazing job - taking excellent care of Emmy while I was away on a week long trip. Photos, videos, trips to the good dog park, special treats, and excellent perfect communication. Highest recommendation!
Brooklynn and Adam are amazing!! My dog is anxious and leash reactive, but he had no problems staying with Brooklynn. She made sure to walk him in quiet areas during less busy times, and her home is quiet and peaceful, which I'm sure helped Monty a ton. She had no problem giving him two different medications every morning, and he got so much love all weekend. We got so many pictures of Monty snuggling with Brooklynn and Adam - so cute! It was like he went to the spa for the weekend - we would love for her to watch Monty again!

Our golden retriever loves her time with Kimberlyn so much!! She’s spent many weekends with her and always comes home happy and tired from all the fun had. Kimberlyn is an excellent communicator and great about sending updates. We would absolutely book again with her!

Ben cared for our senior dog Hazel for over a week while we visited family. He was excellent and we could tell Hazel was having a blast. We get worried leaving her with sitters because of her age and being a rescue, but Ben was very sweet, caring, and asked all the right questions before we dropped her off. I‘m hoping we can have Hazel stay with him many more times while we’re in the neighborhood.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
