“My dog, Sierra, loved staying with Kristin! Kristin was very communicative and sent photos throughout Sierras stay. Sierra seems comfortable and happy the whole time. I will definitely be booking with Kristin again!”

“This was my first time using Rover and my first time leaving my dog (who is also my registered emotional support animal) with anyone other than family or friends. Allison was wonderful!! She was happy to put up with my “helicopter mom” tendencies of texting multiple times a day for updates (she sent me pictures and updates without me asking too!) and I could just tell she was taking such good care of my boy Roddy. Going to definitely use her services again if there’s ever another time I am going out of town and cannot take him with me!”
“Sophia was awesome while watching our Golden Retriever, Stella. She sent photos and updates daily, was extremely responsive, and made us feel comfortable that our dog was well cared for. I would definitely board with Sophia again! Great job Sophia!”

“I would 1000% recommend Linda to anyone who’s looking for someone to watch their pup! She sent lots of updates and pictures during Beau’s stay and she is always very quick to respond. Her house and yard is perfect for dogs of all sizes and needs and I feel incredibly comfortable leaving Beau in her care. I’ll absolutely be booking with Linda again!”

“Ashley and family made my pup welcome in their home. Her two dogs were so chill and made space for my guy, who was easily 10 times their weight. I appreciated Ashley’s flexibility with scheduling and her easygoing approach.”

“I travel into the city often and it was nice to have my doggy just down the way. Super convenient sitter if you’re in need of a sitter near Somerville, Cambridge, Boston area. Easy to pick up and drop off with a designated space no need to look for a spot. I felt extremely comfortable leaving my 10 year old dog with Ashley. Teddy immediately took to her grinning ear to ear and climbing up her legs looking for attention which she happily obliged with a welcoming ear scratch. Teddy didn’t bat an eye when she led him away. He was smitten. I received updates and pictures. I will use her again anytime I’m in Boston. Thank you Ashley for taking such good care of Ted! Highly recommend!”

About: I have worked with farm animals including dogs and cats for about 2 years and I own a dog and a cat! I also love interacting with animals. I am looking for a simple job to keep me active and be able to give back to my community. I would love to care for animals of all shapes and sizes while also ensuring your home and pets are safe. In my home, we have a big backyard with plenty of room for dogs and a whole separate cat room. Within another person's house I would be respecting boundaries put up around the house and being consistent and well aware of clean up! I also love getting out, which would be favorable for a dog.
“Charlie had a great stay with Christina! I was nervous leaving Charlie and Christina sent photos throughout the stay so I could see what she was up to. Charlie had lots of walkies and snuggles and enjoyed her visit.”

“Emily and Daniel were phenomenal watching my dog Ace! Very accommodating, excellent communication and updates, and could tell Ace genuinely had a fun time and was taken care of!”

Chantel was amazing! She took great care of my cat, Tookie. She got snacks, sent several pictures, and treated him like he was her own. When I got Tookie back I could tell he was taken care of because he attitudes were better, he was well brushed, and he was happy. I can’t recommend Chantel enough, definitely hire her!

Laura was so wonderful with my kitty! I was worried because he'd never stayed with a stranger before but it only took him a day or two to warm up and then he looked like he felt right at home! He had a somewhat extended stay (2 weeks) and Laura took such good care of him, I couldn't have asked for a better sitter. He was so happy to hang out with her!

Mallory has just been a perfect sitter for our sometimes needy and anxious pup. She is very communicative and professional. We even goofed on pick up time and forgot food/water bowls once, and Mallory was gracious and accommodating. She takes great care of our pup so much so we don’t worry a bit while away, even when gone for a long weekend. Easy 5 stars!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
