“My dog, Rosie, LOVED Tira! Rosie can be pretty tricky: she's not the easiest to walk because she doesn't like other dogs and likes rabbits/squirrels a bit too much, but Tira put me at ease right away. Tira clearly has had years of experience with dogs; she knew exactly how to handle Rosie to keep her safe and happy. Will definitely be booking with Tira again soon!”

“Our puppy had a great time with Zoe. Zoe was also so kind to meet with us in the neighborhood the day before she was scheduled to visit/walk our dog! Then she bravely took our dog out for a walk on a rainy day. We enjoyed the updates and photos and look forward to working with Zoe again :-)”

“Teylah was fantastic with our cat and us humans. She was easy to communicate with, was proactive in solving problems, improvised solutions, and we returned to a very happy and well-cared for cat. I would definitely book her again!”
“Thank you for watching Beanie! Definitely would recommend. Minhyung stayed longer than necessary for the drop in to give extra care and companionship to Beanie which meant so much. She provided a thorough review. I came back to a very happy pup. Looking forward to having you watch Beanie again”

“Kayala has watched my cat multiple times now, and has always done a great job! She’s responsive and sends great pictures and updates. I would definitely recommend her to take care of other pets!”

About: I've been volunteering regularly for a local cat rescue for over 7 years and pet sitting for friends for years with the love and attention I share with my own pets. I am most experienced with cats and rabbits, but I do also regularly walk my friend's dog. Through the cat rescue, I've worked with a wide variety of cat personalities, from cuddly to spicy, and I'm happy to care for a diversity of critters. I also have experience with giving cats and rabbits medication through my experience at the cat resuce and as a pet mom myself. I typically work remotely from home 4 days a week. My job is fairly flexible, so I can flex my time a bit depending on the best time to visit your pet! I'll always defer to what you are most comfortable with when it comes to your pet. I'll make note of your specific requests and asks to best care for your critters.
“Eleanor was great with Luna while we were on vacation! Luna warmed up to her super quickly. Eleanor spent time sitting / playing with Luna each day on her visit and sent us lots of pictures and updates!”

“Alanna did an awesome job watching Bandit! She was accommodating and had excellent communication from the meet & greet to the end of the booking. I loved her regular updates, and I appreciated her willingness to give Bandit oral medicine during the drop-ins. I'm grateful she was available and will definitely be booking again :)”

“Was incredibly attuned to my lil anxious Winston, provided consistent helpful feedback & was just overall a perfect pet sitter for my baby boy! I was nervous using rover for the first time, and Rachel exceeded my expectations & went above and beyond. Will be working with her again!”

“Ilgin did a fantastic job watching my cat, Mrs. Noodles! This was my first time using Rover and Ilgin put me at ease immediately. She was extremely responsive, timely, and sent me wonderful updates/photos! I will absolutely ask Ilgin to look after Mrs. Noodles again!”

“Jazmin is THE BEST! This is our second appt with her, and she was, again, very loving and caring as well as responsible and responsive! Recommend booking her hands down! Thank you Jazmin!!!”

“Monica was wonderful as a dog sitter while we were on vacation - great communication, lots of pictures, and even helped put away a frozen food delivery that came unexpectedly while we were away. 10/10 would absolutely hire her again!”

About: I know how much your dog means to you, and leaving them with someone new takes a lot of trust. That is why I treat every single dog in my care exactly like my own family. I have a natural intuition for dogs of all shapes, sizes, and personalities. Caring for pups is a lifelong passion of mine. Right now, my own furry family includes a sweet 16-year-old Cockapoo who taught me the patience needed for senior care, and an energetic 1-year-old puppy who keeps me on my toes! Over the years, I have lived with and pet-sat everything from tiny Shih Tzus to lovable "supermutts."If your dog loves to stay active, they will fit right in. My daily routine revolves around keeping dogs happy and moving. We do regular backyard playtime, long neighborhood walks, exciting hikes, and fun trips to the dog park.Plus, raising my puppy means I am highly trained in positive obedience and puppy management techniques. Whether your dog needs gentle structure, high-energy exercise, or just a cozy spot on the couch to relax, I adapt to their unique personality. I cannot wait to meet your pup and give them a fun, safe, and loving home away from home! I work part time from home and have a very flexible schedule that can accommodate your dogs needs. They will have supervised access to the backyard when they want/need, as well as walks and rest time. I have a fenced yard, and an Australian cattle dog/husky mix who LOVES all dogs. He’s crate trained and I can easily work with crate training’s as needed!

About: Previously, I was a volunteer foster dog caretaker for a year and have cared for all types of dogs with a variety of personalities and needs. My priority is to make sure your dog has a fun and safe experience every time I provide a service, and to provide the upmost comfort for your pup! I’ve completed extensive training as a past foster dog caretaker and can cater to a variety of different needs from experience with hyper active dogs or dogs with extreme anxiety. I can also administer medication during my time if needed. I’m a huge animal lover and have grown up with dogs my entire life. I know how to care for any type of personality, and am looking to bring happiness into your pups walks! I also work from home during the week, and am available weekly or on the weekends. With deep knowledge of the area, I’m around a few big parks, the local walking path, a couple dog parks, I’ll make sure to cater to anywhere your pup loves to go! I’ve lived in Somerville the past few years and have many dogs for an extended period of time around my neighborhood. Whatever kind of environment your dog needs for a comfortable and fun walk, I can provide with a deep knowledge of the area.

About: I have been an animal lover from the time I was very young. One of my first jobs was a daily dog walking job with my sister, when I was 10 and she was 13. We got our first dog when I was 6 years old, and I took him on many walking adventures through neighborhoods and trails. I have lived with and cared for a variety of dogs in my life, from Chihuahuas to Goldendoodles, to Retrievers, and Pitbulls. My partner and I had a sweet pittie mix for the past 10 years, but we just lost her to cancer at the end of the spring. I would love to use some of my time to give love to other dogs, as I am on my summer break from teaching. My strengths as a dog sitter are that I am very dependable, I have a calm temperament, strong attentiveness and intuition to what dogs need, and I'm very detail oriented. I have experience caring for dogs in all stages of life, and am comfortable providing medication and special care when needed. I also am very active and would be happy to jog or play with your pet in whatever capacity serves them! I am currently on summer break from teaching. With the exception of some dates I will be out of town, my schedule is flexible. During the school year, I have availability on weekends and after 4 PM most weekdays. I am responsible and attentive to pets' needs and clients' routines and expectations in their home. I am happy to provide updates and pictures during your time away if that would be appreciated.

Veronica is absolutely amazing with my puppy! Shes reliable, caring, and keeps me updated throughout the stay, which gives me complete peace of mind. It was obvious she genuinely loves animals and treats my dog like her own. I come home to a happy, well-cared-for dog, and I won’t hesitate to book with her again. Highly recommend Veronica to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate dog sitter!

Nik was awesome. Whiskey is very anxious and Nik gave him all the attention he needed. He also took care of Whiskey after his paw surgery and sent us updates throughout the day. When he came back home, Whiskey was happy to see him and comfortable to be around him. We will hire Nik again.

Olivia took great care of our dog during drop-in visits for two weeks while our schedules were hectic. She provided lots of updates and was proactive and easy to communicate with. Would highly recommend her services and look forward to working with her again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking. Recurring services come with their own perks, such as flexibility to modify services (up to five weeks in advance), automatic billing, Rover Card updates, and same-day cancellations.
