“I am so so grateful for Alyssa! She was able to watch my two cats for what was a pretty last minute trip. She was super timely, always very responsive, and took a ton of pictures with each check in. My cats loved her and clearly felt very calm and cared for while i was gone. She also left great updates and i felt so reassured. Couldn’t recommend her more - she is great with cats and i assume all other animals too :) thank you Alyssa!!”

“Weiwei was a fantastic drop-in sitter. She provided detailed reports of her visits including excellent photos! It’s clear she cared for our two cats very well. We’ve already booked her again.”

About: I grew up with cats. I had a budgie. My friends trust me to take care of their cats. I would like to try my services here. I have a full time overnight job in the hospital. I’m free every other week. We need to talk about it. My time is flexible. I have a bird in my apt. Bird needs an attention and care every second. I have an experience with cats. I prefer to do visits for your pets. For emergency reasons we can discuss it.
“This was Thomas’s second time dropping in on our precious Peanut, and he truly saved us on short notice. He was super communicative, flexible, and made everything feel easy. We could tell Peanut was happy to see him again! Highly recommend Thomas—he’s wonderful.”

About: I have been taking care of my family's dogs my entire life, and have been trusted to watch my neighbor's dogs since I was in middle school. I have experience with dogs of all ages, including walking, playing with, feeding, and administering medicine in food. I work full-time as a teacher, so I'm available on weekends and in the evenings. I'll also be free the entire summer- perks of being a teacher! I can visit your home to walk your dog, bring them outside, or just to spend quality time with them while you are away or unable to. I am happy to drop in to spend quality time with cats as well!
“Hannah was a great sitter for my shy cat Peanut! Hannah was very communicative, kept me updated on how Peanut was doing and made sure she was fed and comfortable (especially in a major heat wave!) I definitely recommend Hannah as a sitter!”

“Eleanor did an excellent and thoughtful job caring for my dog who had an unexpected medical emergency that was very serious. She helped her through the process and I’m very grateful to have had her help in that situation. She is a kind and responsible caregiver and I certainly recommend her.”

About: I have had a wide range of dogs, cats and other miscellaneous pets throughout my lifetime and I have a lot of experience with taking care of them. I have trained both of my current dogs in basic obedience (sitting, laying down, come, stay etc). I have loved animals for my entire life, and enjoy taking the time to get to know the individual needs of each animal in order to best care for them. I have in-home dog sat several times before, and I am very attentive and able to cater to any need your pet has while walking, sitting or playing with them. I also used to volunteer at the animal shelter, and I took one of my dogs to a training class to learn proper care and techniques. My husband and I recently got a adopted a puppy and we did a lot of research and “on-the-job” learning of how to raise a well-behaved dog! I am a grad student preparing for a new year! This summer, I have the time to spend time with your pets! My schedule is super flexible and I am able to care for the needs of your beloved animal! My style of care varies a bit from pet to pet. I really enjoy training, and getting to know different animals. An important part of pet care, especially for dogs, is to make sure they have their mental and physical needs met. I am happy to spend time working with your pup (whether in training or socialization practices), exercising them, and making sure they have everything they need. I look to build a bond with the animal to make sure they feel safe as well!

About: I'm a life-long dog lover who doesn't have the schedule for a dog full time. Bad news for me, good for you because I have SO much love to give during my free time that your pup will be treated like royalty. I am an educated professional with sound judgement who understands that dogs miss their pack mates when they are away. I will do everything I can to make your dog comfy until that tail-wagging moment when you get back. I will also send you regular updates to show you how much fun your pup is having. I work full time but can give a long walk before and after work. On the weekends, I can go for regular potty walks plus a longer adventure walk. I live in Cambridgeport which has parks full of new smells every few blocks. I am a regular four-legged companion sitter for friends (they know who gives the best snuggles) and lived with dogs through much of my childhood. My condo is on one floor with a half-flight of stairs to the outside.
“Nathan was fantastic! I was concerned because my dog has some separation anxiety and we weren’t sure how she would do, but Nathan’s visits, updates and photos truly put me at ease. He took her to hang out with some of his regular dogs he works with and she did great and had fun. I will DEFINITELY be reaching out to Nathan again in the future and I highly recommend him to anyone else in the area. Thank you, Nathan!”

About: What sets me apart from other sitters is my deep compassion, patience, and experience with dogs who need extra attention—especially those with anxiety or special routines. I have hands-on experience caring for senior dogs, puppies, and pets who struggle with separation anxiety. My own dog, Sasha, has anxiety, so I understand the importance of gentle care, consistency, and emotional support. I treat every pet like family, and I’m committed to creating a calm, safe, and loving environment while you’re away. Whether your pup needs long walks, slow introductions, or just a cozy lap to nap on—I’ve got you covered! Pet care fits naturally into my weekly routine. I have Mondays and Tuesdays off, which gives me plenty of time for daytime walks and drop-ins. On other days, I’m able to fit in visits between school and work—and I don’t mind doing late-night drop-ins if your pet needs evening attention. Caring for animals is something I truly enjoy, so I’m happy to make it a priority in my schedule. I’m dependable, flexible, and always focused on making pets feel safe and loved while you’re away. I only offer pet care in the client’s home because I believe pets are happiest and most comfortable in their own familiar environment. I follow your pet’s routine closely—whether that’s feeding, walks, playtime, or administering medication. I respect your space, keep things tidy, and make sure your pet feels safe, loved, and cared for while you’re away. My goal is always to provide reliable, stress-free care that gives both you and your pet peace of mind.
About: I'm an active and dependable person who loves spending time with dogs and making sure they feel happy, safe, and well cared for. Over the past year, I’ve cared for dogs around Cambridge, but recently decided to join this amazing group! While I don't currently have a dog of my own, I grew up with family dogs and learned the basics of daily care, walks, playtime, and giving them lots of attention. I love being outdoors and enjoy running, so I'm always excited to take active dogs on long walks or runs. I'm currently in graduate school, which provides a flexible schedule for pet care throughout the week and on weekends. I'm available for morning and evening visits on many days, with even greater flexibility on weekends. I keep my calendar up to date and value clear communication so you can feel confident your pet is in reliable hands. I like to stick to each pet's normal routine so they feel comfortable and at ease. Whether that's walks, playtime, meals, or just keeping them company, I make sure they get plenty of attention and care. I also believe in clear communication and am happy to send updates and photos while you're away. As someone who loves being active and spending time outdoors, I'm always happy to add an extra walk, a game of fetch, or a run for dogs who enjoy getting their energy out. I also live on a private street and am nestled around plenty of parks for great walks and potty breaks!

About: I supported and dog-sat a recently adopted dog from an abusive environment over the past four years. Happy to work with anxious dogs or dogs that need lots of quiet time and space. Patient with different needs. I work remotely on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays and can shift responsibilities around to visit before and after work and at lunch, or stay during the day to work. I'm very careful with cats or dogs that try to escape and experienced with keeping them in when I enter or exit. I'm watchful for dogs picking up food on walks and generally watchful for safety.

About: I’ve spent my whole life around big dogs and am happy to take care of any breed and temperament. My friends and family have trusted me to pet sit countless times. This has included everything from pop in visits for Bernie the St. Bernard, five mile hikes with Phish the collie, and week long stays with Jaco the boxer. I’m comfortable with all types of dogs and look forward to meeting your pup! I work fully remote in Cambridge so my weekday schedule is relatively flexible. I’m available for walks/drop-ins from 7am-9am, again in the afternoon from 12pm-1pm, and in the evening from 4pm-9pm. I’m not available on the weekends. I’ll always be sure to sure to enter your home with a calm and respectful demeanor, making sure your dog feels comfortable. I’m very experienced walking large dogs and am confident in my ability to keep any dog happy and safe while walking. This includes reading a dogs body language to know when to remove your dog from an unsafe situation.
About: I have been a pet sitter in the Boston/Cambridge area for the past 3 years with experience working with cats, dogs, and birds. I largely work with cats and dogs that might need a little extra attention. Does your furry friend need medicine 3 times a day? I do that. Does your dog have leash aggression or very specific likes and dislikes? I’ve dealt with that too. Separation anxiety? Check! Senior dogs struggling with incontinence? I’m here to help. Currently, I offer house sitting (taking out trash, plant care, etc), drop ins, pet sitting (2-3 walks, medicine if applicable, feeding, play time), pet walks, and feeding. I can sometimes accommodate last minute bookings and am available most holidays, evenings and weekends. I love pets and will often spend a little extra time with them if you're worried about them being left alone. I offer pet sitting in my client’s home to keep pets in the environment they feel safest. Before pet sitting for the first time, I will always ask that we meet, take a walk or have a chat with your fur baby present so that we confirm it’s a good fit for everyone. I’m here to learn from you, not run in as an expert or an uncaring sitter.
About: I’ve had my own dog since I was young and have professional cared for dogs since I was 16. I absolutely love being around dogs, and I’m always down to play fetch or go for walks. Neighbors and family members have relied on me as a responsible, attentive caregiver. My schedule is really flexible. I’m comfortable staying overnight, and can work on a long-term or short-term schedule. I work remote, so I will be able to hang out with your pets all day. I am very respectful of my client’s space. I typically request a visit with a client before a job to go over all the info beforehand, and then I treat your home as if it were my own - keeping it clean, hanging out with pups.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Cambridge
Liza is a professional and we will certainly keep her in mind for any future needs. She was extremely attentive to the specific needs of our pups, ensuring that she had all the instructions/details ready to go before we even left for our extended trip. Her Rover cards/visits were thoroughly documented and her communication was top-notch, giving us the peace of mind we needed to enjoy our vacation. Our pups easily fell in love with her! She’s a no brainer to hire!

Veronica is absolutely amazing with my puppy! Shes reliable, caring, and keeps me updated throughout the stay, which gives me complete peace of mind. It was obvious she genuinely loves animals and treats my dog like her own. I come home to a happy, well-cared-for dog, and I won’t hesitate to book with her again. Highly recommend Veronica to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate dog sitter!

Nik was awesome. Whiskey is very anxious and Nik gave him all the attention he needed. He also took care of Whiskey after his paw surgery and sent us updates throughout the day. When he came back home, Whiskey was happy to see him and comfortable to be around him. We will hire Nik again.

Olivia took great care of our dog during drop-in visits for two weeks while our schedules were hectic. She provided lots of updates and was proactive and easy to communicate with. Would highly recommend her services and look forward to working with her again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking. Recurring services come with their own perks, such as flexibility to modify services (up to five weeks in advance), automatic billing, Rover Card updates, and same-day cancellations.
