“Jhona was a great host - kind, responsive and patient with noodle, my 2-year old Maltese. Noodle is anxious, and takes time to open up and adjust but Jhona was able to handle him without any issues. Regular updates and pictures were shared with me, and I highly recommend Jhona to anyone in need of a sitter :)”
“Tiffany and Steve were really through up front so we knew exactly what to expect, sent us updates throughout the day, and our dog seemed to really like them. Thank you for taking such good care of our pup!”

“Maddy was SO great and sweet with Millie. She sent lots of pictures which was so nice and she is very communicative and quick to respond! I definitely recommend her!”

“Hudson had a great time with Jamie! This was his first time staying with a babysitter so I was a little nervous about how he’d do (and nervous to leave him 😂), but Jamie was great and Hudson seemed happy and calm both days when I picked him up. Would definitely recommend!”

“Tran was amazing with our old dog! We booked her last minute and right away we knew we could trust her. She was super communicative, thoughtful about our old/sick dogs needs, and just lovely all around!”

“Winn did very well with Emily and Daniel. When I picked him up from daycare he was wagging his tail happily, having enjoyed a day with them and their dog.”

About: I’ve loved dogs for as long as I can remember, and having my own dog since I was 12 made them a big part of my life growing up. Being away from home for college means I really miss my dog, which is one of the reasons I enjoy dog-sitting so much, it lets me spend time caring for and bonding with dogs while giving them the attention they deserve. Over the past three years in Boston, I’ve regularly dog-sat for friends and families who trust me because I’m dependable, attentive, and focused on maintaining each dog’s routine and comfort. I’m currently a senior in college with classes mainly in the mornings, so I’m home and available for most of the day. This schedule allows me to prioritize pet care, stick to routines, and provide consistent supervision and attention. When dogs stay with me, I make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for by following their usual schedule as closely as possible. Dogs are never left alone for more than four hours, and I send daily updates and photos so owners feel reassured while they’re away. My apartment also has a dog park amenity, which makes potty breaks and outdoor time easy, safe, and convenient
“Emily and Robert took such great care of my dog Jack, they are very responsible and attentive to his needs and special diet.. he also made a new friend with there cute little dog while walking all around the seaport”

“Jim was a super duper sitter! He was very responsive and was very accommodating to what we needed. A day prior we stopped by for a Meet & Greet to allow our pup to meet Jim for the first time. Then dropped off our 4 month old pup very early in the AM the next day while we went up North until late afternoon. Jim sent a few updates as well as a video throughout the sitting. Overall, very delighted with the experience and the attention he gave our pup, would definitely book Jim again in the future! Thanks!!”

“Aline and her husband Sam were great. Extremely responsive and caring with Bobby. Sent me photos and updates throughout the day and made me certain he was being well taken care of. I would leave Bobby with them in a heartbeat.”

Since I work from home, I’m able to integrate walks, playtime, and check-ins throughout the day—whether it’s a morning stroll, afternoon games in the park, or relaxed evenings together. My routine is flexible, so dogs always get outside for fresh air and exercise and receive plenty of attention between my work sessions. On weekends, I love exploring new neighborhoods, local parks, or heading to the beach—always bringing dogs along for new adventures. Whether it’s active pups needing stimulation or seniors who prefer a calm presence, I adapt my days to make sure every dog feels comfortable, safe, and part of my everyday world. When caring for pets in my home, I make sure they’re comfortable, safe, and integrated into my daily routine—regular walks to nearby parks or the beach, supervised playtime, and cozy rest spots throughout my home. About: I grew up with 2 Yorkies and bulldogs! I love dogs with my life. Dogs are like family to me. One of my Yorkies (they both live in my hometown) passed away recently due to her age, so I do know how to properly take care of dogs even when it comes to senior dogs or even puppies. I am always available to take care of dogs! I live with my boyfriend who works at home so he is available in case I’m not home. I go to law school so sometimes it does get busy but I’m always happy to take care of a baby (pet)! I take care of pets at my home by providing them a place for them to be able to sleep comfortably and play with their toys. I also think that talking to them calms them down and makes them more comfortable. Dogs are really smart and they do understand rules if you explain it to them!
“Brendan was great with our dog Rowan for doggy day care. He sent us photos through the day and was super responsive. Thank you again, Brendan, for watching Rowan!”

“Julia took great care of my new puppy. She kept me updated on how things were going. Julia is extremely patient as my new puppy is still potty training. She made sure to take her out frequently. Already booked another puppy watch with her so I’m confident that she does a great job with my fur baby”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - East Boston
Haley was an AMAZING sitter for our 8 week old puppy, and I would totally trust her to watch him in the future. She did so well with him despite his very young age and was open to all my instructions for his care ❤️ She was so easy to contact and convenient for a Southie pup. She had great communication as well throughout the day which left me feeling very confident in my puppy’s care as a new dog mommy 😉. Thank you, Haley!!

Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of Surf! We absolutely loved all the photos, videos, and updates you sent throughout the day. It was so reassuring to see how happy and comfortable he was with you. Surf clearly had an amazing time, made a new best friend, and came home happy and tired which is always a great sign! It means a lot to us to know he was surrounded by so much love, attention, and genuine care. Thank you again for treating him like one of your own. ❤️ Surf, Anna & Alex

I cannot say enough good things about Annie, she was amazing baby sitting little 15 week doxie named Winston! He is opinionated, independent and stubborn like many puppies, but also his breed. Annie was so patient with him, every morning that I dropped him off and picked him up you could tell how much he enjoyed his stay! Routines are really important for puppies of his age - Annie wrote everything down and followed routine to the T! She also sent me so many updates throughout the day. Winston came back so happy every night! 🥰 thank you Annie!

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
