Pet care experience
Fear Free Certified• Full time
Hi! I’m Krystal- Full time Professional Pet Sitter, Berklee College of Music graduate, and proud dog mom to my Shiba Inu, Mina. As a fellow dog parent, I know your dog isn’t just a pet—they’re family. That’s why we created Paw Retreat, a boutique home-boarding experience where every guest receives personalized care, enriching adventures, and the same love and attention we would give our own dog. Inspired by my love for both music and animals, my goal is simple: to create a calm, loving second home where every dog feels safe, understood, comfortable, and genuinely excited to come back. ⸻ 🌿 What Makes Us Different At Paw Retreat, we believe boarding should feel like a vacation-not simply a place to stay. Unlike traditional boarding facilities or high-volume daycare environments, we intentionally keep our group small so every guest can receive individualized attention, personalized care, and plenty of time to relax in a comfortable home environment. Keeping our group small also allows us to get to know each dog’s personality, habits, communication style, favorite activities, and individual needs. We want every guest to feel like part of the family while they’re here. ⸻ 🌳 More Than Just a Backyard We believe dogs deserve more than spending their entire stay in one backyard. Our guests typically enjoy 3–4 potty walks each day, along with two longer outdoor adventures based on their energy level, age, weather, and comfort. Our adventures may include: • Beautiful local parks • Large fenced grassy fields • Scenic walking trails • Sniffing and enrichment walks • Fetch and play sessions • Dog-friendly destinations throughout Greater Boston • Relaxing outdoor time for lower-energy or senior dogs We believe exploring new environments, sniffing, walking, playing, and experiencing the world around them are important parts of a dog’s physical and emotional well-being. Of course, every dog is different. Some dogs love big adventures, while others prefer quiet neighborhood walks, gentle play, or simply relaxing at home. We always adjust the day around the individual dog. ⸻ 🧠 Personalized Enrichment No two dogs are the same. Rather than following one routine for every guest, we tailor activities around your dog’s: • Personality • Age • Energy level • Confidence • Exercise needs • Play style • Social preferences • Comfort level Drawing from ongoing education in canine behavior, enrichment, Fear Free handling, and positive reinforcement, we recognize that mental stimulation is just as important as physical exercise. Depending on the dog, enrichment may include: • Sniffing games • Food puzzles • Recall practice • Sit / Stay / Come • Focus exercises • Waiting and polite manners • Positive-reinforcement training games • Fetch or frisbee • Quiet one-on-one interaction • Confidence-building activities Training and enrichment are always kept light, positive, and appropriate for each dog. Our goal is never to pressure a dog—we want them to participate because they feel comfortable and enjoy the interaction. ⸻ ❤️ A True Boutique Experience Because we welcome only a small number of guests at a time, every dog can receive the individual attention they deserve. Our guests enjoy: • Plenty of one-on-one attention • Flexible daily routines • Individual play and enrichment • Outdoor adventures • Quiet nap and relaxation time • Cuddles and companionship • Personalized feeding routines • Frequent potty opportunities • A calm home environment • Personalized care instead of a crowded daycare setting We believe quality pet care comes from having enough time to truly pay attention to each individual dog. That means noticing the little things—whether they seem tired, hungry, overstimulated, anxious, playful, uncomfortable, or simply ready for a cuddle. ⸻ 🏡 A Full-Time Family Care Team Pet care isn’t a side job—it’s my full-time profession. Paw Retreat is intentionally structured as a family-care environment, allowing us to provide consistent supervision, companionship, and personalized attention throughout each guest’s stay. My partner William works remotely most of the week, and my mother, who also has years of hands-on dog-care experience, frequently helps throughout the day. Together, we make sure our guests receive regular potty breaks, exercise, enrichment, companionship, rest, and lots of love. This family-style setup also allows dogs to experience something very different from a kennel environment—they get to live as part of a household. ⸻ ✂️ Professional Grooming Experience In addition to my full-time pet-care work, I also have professional experience in a Pet store salon, where I continue developing hands-on skills in: • Safe dog handling • Bathing • Brushing • Coat care • Nail care • Basic grooming preparation • Recognizing signs of stress or discomfort • Helping dogs feel more comfortable throughout the grooming process My grooming experience complements my Fear Free and pet-care background and helps me become even more confident handling dogs with different personalities, coat types, sensitivities, and comfort levels. I believe grooming should be approached with patience and empathy, especially for dogs who may feel nervous about bathing, brushing, nail care, or being handled. ⸻ 🦴 Thoughtful Extras We love adding thoughtful little touches to make each stay feel special. Depending on the guest and with owner approval, we may provide: • Healthy homemade treats • Daily photo and video updates • Complimentary bath for long-term boarding guests • Individual feeding routines • Medication administration when needed • Food puzzles and enrichment activities • Light positive-reinforcement training • Extra brushing and basic coat care • Plenty of cuddles and companionship Our goal is to make owners feel connected and reassured while they’re away—and to make dogs feel like they’re enjoying their own little vacation. ⸻ 🏆 Professional Qualifications Providing exceptional care means continuing to learn. I’m committed to ongoing education in canine behavior, enrichment, low-stress handling, grooming, safety, and positive-reinforcement training so I can continue providing the highest-quality care possible. My professional background and certifications include: ✔ Professional Grooming Salon Experience — PetSmart ✔ Certified Professional Pet Sitter ✔ Fear Free Certified Professional ✔ Pet CPR & First Aid Certified ✔ Karen Pryor Academy Dog Trainer Foundations ✔ 12+ Years of Hands-On Dog Care Experience My education allows me to better understand canine body language, stress signals, handling, enrichment, safety, and individual behavior. Every dog teaches us something new, and I believe being an excellent pet-care professional means always continuing to learn. ⸻ 🐕 Individualized Care Before a stay, I want to understand what makes your dog feel most comfortable. I’m happy to learn about their: • Feeding schedule • Potty routine • Sleeping habits • Favorite activities • Walking preferences • Medical needs • Allergies or sensitivities • Medication schedule • Social preferences • Triggers or fears • Grooming sensitivities • Training cues • Personality and daily routine The more we know about your dog, the better we can recreate the routine and comfort they’re used to at home. ⸻ 🤝 Building Long-Term Relationships Our goal isn’t simply to care for your dog during one trip. We hope to become the trusted pet-care family you can rely on for years to come. As we get to know your dog’s personality, favorite activities, routines, communication style, and preferences, we’re able to provide an even more personalized experience with every visit. Returning guests often settle in quickly because they already recognize our home, routines, family members, walking routes, favorite resting spots, and friends. Nothing makes us happier than seeing a familiar face walk through the door excited for another stay. At Paw Retreat, we want every dog to feel: Safe. Loved. Understood. Enriched. And completely at home. 🐾❤️ We look forward to welcoming your pup for their own little Paw Retreat vacation!

Ratings and reviews
Krystal and William get all the stars! They did such an absolutely wonderful job taking care of my dog and made the whole experience stress free for me. Every day I would get multiple video or picture updates so I saw exactly how much fun my dog was having. This gave me a ton of peace of mind. They went out to parks, played fetch, had photo shoots, it was all so heart warming. Krystal was also very responsive so I wasn't sitting waiting for replies. They even gave kira a bath because she stayed a week! My little girl came home smelling so good 🤩 They were also clearly very attentive to not only my dog's needs, but also her wants. Kira showed interest in some boiled chicken that was being cooked and Krystal checked in before giving any to Kira. I really appreciated this because my dog has a weak stomach so it's important to regulate her intake. 10/10 definitely recommend leaving your little one with Krystal and William!!

Amazing dog sitters! Helped us out last second, but it will definitely not be our last time using them. 10/10!
Could not be happier with the care they showed to my pup when I left her with them for just under a week. It was my first time leaving her behind, and she is just young puppy which can be a handful. I got plenty of updates on my dog’s activities and she was always very happy in every image or video I got. They were also extremely accommodating when I had some last minute timing issues. All in all, it was a relief to know my puppy was in good hands while I was out of the country.

Our Cavalier had the BEST time with William and Crystal. She was so well cared for and came back smelling amazing! We will absolutely use them again!

The best Rover experience yet! Kind, fun-loving, and generous.

Truly excellent care and attention to detail while caring for my little one! Highly recommend!

Schedule
Pet care is my full-time career, so my daily schedule is built entirely around the dogs staying with us. Because we intentionally care for only a small number of guests, every dog receives plenty of supervision, companionship, potty breaks, exercise, and individual attention throughout the day. William works remotely most of the week, and my mother also helps care for our guests, so someone is almost always home. This flexible schedule allows us to adjust activities based on each dog’s personality, energy level, routine, and needs.

Safety, trust & environment
Your dog’s safety, comfort, and emotional well-being are always our highest priorities. As a Fear Free Certified Professional, I use gentle, low-stress handling techniques that help dogs feel safe and comfortable in a new environment. Every guest is carefully supervised, and I pay close attention to body language, stress signals, and individual comfort levels to ensure a positive experience. Our apartment is designed to feel like a real home—not a kennel. To maintain a clean and healthy environment, we: • Use HEPA air purifiers • Wash food and water bowls after every meal • Sanitize beds, blankets, toys, and common areas using pet-safe products • Provide fresh filtered water at all times • Brush dogs when appropriate to keep coats clean and comfortable Long-term boarding guests also receive a complimentary bath before going home (with owner approval), so they return fresh, fluffy, and clean. While you’re away, you’ll receive frequent photos, videos, and updates so you can relax knowing your pup is safe, happy, and having fun.

- 🤝 Meet & Greet Before your pup’s first stay, I always recommend scheduling a Meet & Greet. It’s a great opportunity for us to get to know each other, answer any questions, and make sure we’re the right fit for your dog. During our Meet & Greet, I’d love to learn as much as possible about your pup so I can provide the safest, most personalized care throughout their stay. Please let me know about: • Your dog’s daily routine • Feeding schedule and dietary preferences • Allergies or food sensitivities • Medications or medical conditions • Favorite toys, games, and activities • Energy level and exercise needs • Experience around other dogs • Crate training or sleeping preferences (if applicable) • Separation anxiety, fears, or triggers • Training cues or behavioral concerns • Emergency contact information The more I know about your dog’s routine, personality, and preferences, the more I can help them feel safe, comfortable, and right at home from day one.
