“Karen and her family were amazing with Trixie. They are very obviously dog lovers and their home and garden are perfect for looking after dogs. Karen was brilliant at keeping us updated with how she was and a photo each morning and it was clear when we picked Trixie up she’d been very happy there. Would absolutely recommend and will be booking again!”

“Shishir and Marion took great care of Alfie, from the start they saw I was anxious about leaving him with a strangers and did everything they could help reassure me, allowing me to schedule a few meetings and greets to get to know them and for them to get to know Alfie. Throughout my stay I got daily updates and pictures and felt constantly reassured he was happy whilst I was enjoying my holiday. I would book them again without a doubt and highly recommend them!”

“Wow! What’s a wonderful, kind and generous person. We are so lucky to have found you. Alfie has been looked after so well I think he is sad to have come home. I’m sure he will drag me to your house the next time we go for a walk. The photos and little messages are so reassuring. We would definitely recommend you to any potential doggy parents. Absolutely perfect 🤩 I would give more stars if I could! XX”

“Michele always takes the most wonderful care of our pup Rizzo and Rizzo is always so excited to see her! “Gigi was fantastic looking after Freddie. She made sure that everything was tailored to suit his needs. Gigi was full of love and care for Freddie and continually kept me updated with photos. Freddie loved spending time with Gigi and her son. He enjoyed the play, cuddles, walks and entertainment they provided. I felt comforted by the regular updates and Gigi adapting things for Freddie over the hot weather. Freddie enjoyed his 6 day holiday and I will definitely use Gigi again. Many thanks for the wonderful care you provided!”

“Amy and her family took amazing care of our little Yorkie Baxter. It was the first time we had left him with anyone apart from family so we were a bit nervous about leaving him but we were quickly reassured by Amy’s regular updates and pictures. Baxter had a great time and I would highly recommend Amy to anyone. Thanks so much 💕”

“Megan was absolutely amazing with our little lad, Winston! Kept up to date with pictures and her communication was on point! We had a last minute booking as we had a wedding to go to and she was more than happy to accommodate. He was absolutely spoilt rotten with his walks and cuddles and we couldn’t have asked for anything more. Megan, her partner and family (special mention to them) were treating him as if he were their own, so much so I think Winston would’ve been happy to stay longer! We would be happy to have them look after him again 😊 thank you so much from us and Winston 🐶”

We left our 10 month old Cocker Spaniel puppy Dolly with Michele for 9 days . We received daily pup updates and photos from Michele which were so reassuring as it was our first time leaving her to go on holiday . Dolly had a wonderful stay and was totally spoilt rotten ❤️ The one to one care Michele gave was fantastic , and she treated Dolly like her own pet which was so lovely to see. Dolly has returned home and very happy puppy .Thank you so much Michele, we shall see you again soon xx
We had a great experience and would happily recommend Sohee. She took excellent care of our mini daschund, kept us updated throughout, and made everything really easy. Her lovely dog, Winston, is so friendly and helped our dog settle in straight away. We’d definitely book with her again!

Darcy's first stay with Ann and her family was a great success. She was very comfortable in their house and ate all her meals and slept well. Ann was very caring and diligent and kept us updated on how Darcy was settling in, also sending us photos of her in the garden looking happy and content, which was reassuring. We would not hesitate to use Ann again.

We were really anxious about who we would leave our older boy with while we were away on holiday, so much so that we met with several sitters before choosing Shishir and Marion. From the start, they were incredibly responsive and kept us updated throughout our trip with regular photos and messages, which gave us real peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands. He stayed with them during the heatwave, and they were very mindful of the high temperatures, adapting his walks and care to keep him comfortable and safe. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Shishir and Marion to anyone looking for a caring and reliable dog sitter, and we would happily book with them again.

Declan and Abi are absolutely lovely and great dog boarders. Reggie stayed with them for 2 nights whilst we were at a friends wedding and he had a great time. Very communicative and sent through pics of Reg and what he’d been up to during his stay with them. Would definitely recommend and will be booking again in the future!

Looked after our Bluebell for 4 nights. First time for her staying at someone’s house that isn’t a family member or close friend and she was very well looked after. Was hot days so was walked in mornings and evenings and Bluebell looked very happy on all the photos we were sent!

Lauren and Ethan were absolutely fantastic looking after our dog, Myla, while we were away on holiday. From the moment we met them, we felt completely at ease knowing she was in such caring and capable hands. They kept us updated with regular messages and photos, which gave us real peace of mind and allowed us to enjoy our trip without worrying. It was clear that Myla was happy, well cared for, and received plenty of love and attention throughout her stay. We came home to a relaxed, happy dog, and it was obvious she'd been treated like one of the family. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lauren and Ethan to anyone looking for trustworthy, reliable, and genuinely caring pet sitters. Thank you both for taking such wonderful care of Myla—we'll definitely be booking with you again!

Joanne looked after Mutley for a week in late June 2026. She proved her flexibility when I needed to tweet timings. She is a kind and friendly individual. Joanne kept me fully up to date, several times a day on Mutleys stay with her by pictures and videos. Mutley was seen to be interacting well with her. I plan to book Mutley in again with Joanne who is clearly passionate about animals in her care.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
