“I honestly can’t thank Paula enough for looking after my 14-year-old Westie overnight. Leaving an older dog with someone new can be worrying, but from the moment we met at the meet and greet , I knew he was in the best hands. She was so kind, welcoming and genuinely cared about making him feel comfortable and settled. She made sure he was well looked after, was patient, gave him lots of love and kept me updated throughout with lovely messages and photos, which meant so much to me. It was such a relief knowing he was happy in her home and being so well cared for. Paula and Dave are such a lovely people and we got on so well straight away! You can really tell how much she loves animals! I wouldn’t hesitate to leave my doggy with her again and I’ll definitely be using her services in the future. Thank you so much Paula!”

“Ale and her family took care of Lando as one of their own. She sent us pictures multiple times a day and provided feedback. A special fact about Alejandra that we appreciate is that she’s bilingual (Spanish/English) and that aspect facilitated our communication and understanding. We are looking forward to working with Alejandra and her family again!”

“Anna is a responsive, reliable and effective dog sitter - we had complete confidence in her over the 10 days we were away. She provided regular updates and attentive care for our dog, that suffers from some separation anxiety. Recommended.”

“A true home away from home describes Chips' week-long stay perfectly. Anely and her family were exceptional hosts, maintaining excellent communication throughout. Chip formed an instant friendship with Anely's dog Brownie, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere.”

“Diana has been an amazing friend for my 2 years old BonBon ( A furry poodle) since last one week. BonBon was so happy with her with regular walks and play. Diana also kept us very well informed on a daily basis with photos and video. BonBon will definitely need to see her again and again. Thank you Diana.”

“Obi loved his stay with Pratik, Shreshtha and their dog Coco. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a home away from home for their dog. The communication was excellent from the start. They provided regular updates with pictures and videos of how Obi was doing and he seemed to have an amazing few days with them and their lovely dog Coco.”

“I could not recommend Maria more highly! She is so caring and loving and took such fantastic care of my elderly dog. Her family are so lovely and we got lots of updates about how he was doing. Thank you!”
“We usually have someone come to our house to watch Sitka, but after reading all of Tricia’s great reviews we decided to board in her home. Sitka came back healthy, happy, and having eaten far far more than she usually does when there’s a change - a sign she was very relaxed! It was a hot weekend and Tricia kept me updated on how she was keeping her cool and send me some incredibly adorable photos when I was missing her!”

“Tia was absolutely fantastic with our two dogs! We were in a bit of a last second bind having decided not to go ahead with another dog boarding service after realising we wouldn't be able to meet the actual dog boarder beforehand. So we decided to try Rover and found Tia who was so helpful and communicative. She was able to do a meet and greet beforehand and we felt really good about leaving our dogs with her. They were very well cared for and our dogs came back to us happy and healthy. We are really grateful we found Tia and would gladly have her take care of the dogs again and would gladly recommend her :-)”

Nikoleta and her partner are the sweetest couple - friendly, responsive and just really warm lovely people. They looked after my dog as if it were their own. I would totally recommend Nikoleta to anyone wanting a very caring dog sitter that takes great care of their pet. Thank you Nikoleta!

Katie has been amazing! We're so happy we chose her to take care of Bamba and Jelly! She sent us daily updates, always with pictures and made us feel so relaxed and reassured. They both looked so happy and relaxed. Her messages made us see that she really got to know Bamba and Jelly. She identidied by herslf what each of them like to play with and who likes to do long walks and who likes to stay and bath in the sun :) We highly recommend her and will definetily bring them to Katie again on our next vacation!

Tilly clearly had a very good stay with Isobel (and Liz Thank you!) It was very reassuring knowing that Tilly seemed at home from the time she arrived . We were sent updates and photos and she was eating well which is not always a given for our fussy Cockapoo. We felt able to relax knowing she was in a caring home and would not hesitate to book with Isobel again. Thank you

Jeyda looked after our dog (Bailey) and cat (Sutlac) in July for 11 nights, and they both left happy. Whilst juggling her work commitments and looking after other pets, we found Jeyda’s communication was very good and we found her to be very likeable and trust-worthy. We will book again!

This was my first time using Rover. One I contacted Valeria, who came highly recommended, she was very helpful and guided me through the process. Throughout the time my dog was in her care she sent frequent updates and pictures, putting me at my ease. I will definitely be using her services again. Thank you Valeria!

Alejandra and her family took wonderful care of our dog, Nora! She checked in regularly with videos and pictures which made it easy for us to tell that Nora was having a great time and was well taken care of. Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Greater London may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
