Very professional and affectionate towards our dog. Plenty of exercise with quality walks and fantastic communication throughout the stay. Couldn’t ask for more and would definitely recommend.

Shishir and Marion took great care of Alfie, from the start they saw I was anxious about leaving him with a strangers and did everything they could help reassure me, allowing me to schedule a few meetings and greets to get to know them and for them to get to know Alfie. Throughout my stay I got daily updates and pictures and felt constantly reassured he was happy whilst I was enjoying my holiday. I would book them again without a doubt and highly recommend them!

I had a lovely experience with Jennifer. It was lovely meeting her and her husband they are very warm and welcoming, I immediately felt as ease. Jennifer’s communication is fabulous and I really appreciate all the photos she sent me of my dog’s progress. I like her way of doing things they were just like I’d do at home and it makes me super confident that my Dafe is in the best care! I booked an overnight stay as I’d like to use Jennifer more long term so I wanted to see how my Dafe got on with her and her family. I’m so confident with continuing on with her. Thanks Jennifer!!!!! You’re awesome. Just an additional note: when I went to pick up my dog he was just super chilled. It took me back a little - granted he was happy to see me, but not in an overly excited was like he was ready to go home. He looked like he could have comfortably gone back to bed, which MADE MY DAY!!!!!!! I must also add that Jennifer’s house is beautiful, it’s peaceful, SUPER SPOTLESS WOW! and overall warm. It’s definitely an environment and family you’d want your dog to be with. 10/10!

Courtney took such good care of our dog, she honestly loved her like she was her own. We received regular updates and photos (and even videos) of our dog during her stay. Courtney's home is a home from home with a lovely garden and easy access. When I collected my dog she was so happy and relaxed, she was definitely made to feel at home there. We will not hesitate to use Courtney again in the future.

Mark and Natalia were amazing! Winston can be fussy and stubborn at the best of times but it seems he had a fantastic time with Mark and Natalia, he came back exhausted. We got regular photo updates and they were happy to accommodate all of our requests. They've also box exceptionally lovely people and have a perfectly set up home to look after dogs. Winston has decided he'll certainly be back soon!

FAQs for Boarding - Hertsmere

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Boarding in Hertsmere on Rover is £35.65 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Boarding easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Boarding. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 15,363 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across Hertsmere. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
