“Edward and Natalie were brilliant with Peggy. Made sure to familiarise themselves with Peggy's routine in advance, adapted their care to the hot weather, took beautiful pictures that I might well print and were great at keeping me informed more generally. Peggy was clearly really relaxed in their company. Would definitely recommend.”

“We found David via a friend and decided to visit him and his family to see if our Leo will be happy with David and his family. Within few minutes of our visit we knew that we can trust David in taking good care of our Leo. Leo came yesterday after 2 day (with 1 night) of boarding and he came back a very happy dog. David kept us updated with text, photos and videos over the two days stay. David lives exactly 25.4 miles from us - which is about 40 minutes plus drive and we using him says it all. Thanks to you David and your family for taking such good care of our Leo.”

“Ezra thoroughly enjoyed his stay with Mina, who quickly made him feel at home and treated him to some lovely walks. Mina also provided frequent updates, including pictures and videos, which really put our minds at ease.”

“Freya was absolutely amazing with Renzo while we were abroad for a week, and provided daily updates with photos of their many scenic walks! On the day I dropped Renzo, Freya and her mum offered to all go on a walk together with Renzo which was so lovely. Freya was so accommodating with Renzo’s separation anxiety and restructured her days so that he’d always be kept company! Will definitely be booking with Freya and her mum again. Thanks again, so much xx”

“Karen looked after Bumble for a full week and by the end he didn’t want to come home!!! Karen and her family looked after Bumble as if he were their own and I would leave him with Karen again in a heartbeat. Thank you Karen and family!! Xxx”

“Shishir and Marion took great care of Alfie, from the start they saw I was anxious about leaving him with a strangers and did everything they could help reassure me, allowing me to schedule a few meetings and greets to get to know them and for them to get to know Alfie. Throughout my stay I got daily updates and pictures and felt constantly reassured he was happy whilst I was enjoying my holiday. I would book them again without a doubt and highly recommend them!”

“Ross has been really great with Marley, we are very happy to leave her with him. This was her 2nd stay with him and she was well looked after and we were kept informed. Thanks Ross 5🌟”

This was the first time leaving our boys at relatively short notice and I was really worried about it! I shouldn’t have been ! Emma was fantastic. Within a few minutes of leaving them I had an update and photos/videos of how they were getting on and settling in! The regular updates continued throughout our holiday, showing what a fabulous time the boys were having! So much so I was worried they weren’t going to want to come home! 😂I would highly recommend Emma and will be booking again next time we need a sitter!

Victoria looked after our dog Betty this weekend and did a brilliant job. She was really communicative throughout, sending photos and updates via WhatsApp so we could see Betty was happy and settled while we were away. You could tell Betty genuinely loved being around her. Well looked after, well cared for, and total peace of mind for us as owners. We'll definitely be booking Victoria again and would happily recommend her to anyone looking for a dog sitter.

Feddy was so so happy to see Ross again, which says a lot about how he treats the animals in his care and how they respond to him. I felt completely at ease knowing Feddy was in such good, caring hands. He kept me updated with pictures throughout, which I really appreciated! Thanks again, Ross!

Couldn’t have asked for a better sitter for Otis. Amber was incredibly warm and personable from the moment off, she and Otis hit it off straight away. She kept me updated throughout with plenty of photos and messages, and genuinely made him feel very at home. He had lots of walks, loads of love and attention, and honestly seemed disappointed to leave when I picked him up. It’s obvious how much care Amber puts into the dogs she looks after, and I'd happily book with her again.

Caitlin was really lovely and took brilliant care of our miniature labradoodle, Artie! We received regular (and very cute) photo updates where Artie was engaged in various activities and having a great time. Artie came home after his overnight stay very happy and well looked after. Would highly recommend Caitlin!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
