“It was my first time using this app and I was a little nervous about leaving my dogs with a stranger. After speaking to Heidi on the phone and meeting her in person I knew I had nothing to worry about. Heidi sent me photos of the dogs in her care and updated me how they were getting on. They were very well looked after and I’ll definitely use Heidi again”

About: I’m a mum of two teens and I’ve been surrounded by animals all my life, growing up with dogs, cats and rabbits and now being a proud dog mum to my black Labrador, Cooper. 🖤 I regularly look after friends’ dogs when they’re away and absolutely love having them around. I’m confident and comfortable caring for both dogs and cats, and understand how important it is to know your pet is happy, safe and well cared for while you’re away. Your pets will be treated like one of our own, with plenty of love, attention and fuss! 🐾❤️ Mostly I work full time from home as director of dental urgent care for the NHS then the weekends are spent watching my two boys play football. I have a large fenced in back garden, space to crate your dog if your preference or need, can also use stair gates for added safety, plus I have friendly Labrador for company.

“Gigi was fantastic looking after Freddie. She made sure that everything was tailored to suit his needs. Gigi was full of love and care for Freddie and continually kept me updated with photos. Freddie loved spending time with Gigi and her son. He enjoyed the play, cuddles, walks and entertainment they provided. I felt comforted by the regular updates and Gigi adapting things for Freddie over the hot weather. Freddie enjoyed his 6 day holiday and I will definitely use Gigi again. Many thanks for the wonderful care you provided!”

“Chester had another great stay with Karen and her family. Chester adores Karen and the sight of his wagging tail when he sees her makes me feel so relaxed about leaving him. We get lots of updates and videos, and Karen's flexibility is massively appreciated. We are so glad we found Karen”

“Zsuzsanna took a great care of my dog, Claire. She also made time for me to meet and greet in advance for assurance. Her updates are fun! I enjoyed receiving her updates through her stay. I am glad that I have found Zsuzsanna via Rover!”

“Nicholas and Jia were absolutely fantastic in looking after Florence. They were so thoughtful in advance of Florence's stay, asked lots of questions and made sure they were aware of all Florence's needs and challenges! They really took the time to find out about Florence, which was incredibly reassuring. They provided regular updates throughout the stay and when I collected Florence, it was clear that she had been really happy and well looked after by Nicholas and Jia. Would highly recommend!”

“Sarah looked after our cockapoo, Nala. We were kept informed about how Nala was settling in and had lots of update and pictures throughout the stay. We will definitely be booking future sessions with Sarah.”

Seb and his partner did a brilliant job looking after our pup. We felt completely confident leaving her there overnight - they were obviously very caring and have a great home/garden for a dog. She obviously had a lot of fun playing with their dog too so we had one sleepy pup when we got home!

Thankyou once again to Nicholas and Jia for taking such good care of our fur baby stitch, we always get daily updates and pictures, stitch comes home happy, healthy and smelling gorgeous! We won’t hesitate to use them again for any trips we have coming up in the future. Highly recommend them, Thankyou again 😊

We left our 3 year old Goldendoodle with Chloe for a week and she was amazing. We received constant updates on how Nige was getting on and how he was playing with her beautiful lab Kaia (Niges bestie). It was a relief knowing he was ok and having the time of his life. Chloe even celebrated Nigel’s birthday which a big thing for us (I know leaving him on his birthday awful we are) but he had the best time with Chloe and Kaia. He is very depressed now he is back and no one to run with or play tug of war 🤣 thank you so much Chloe ☺️

We were so pleased with the care Sarah gave Toffee. She took her on extra walks in the woods as she had a little more energy than Sarah’s dogs, which she absolutely loved! We really appreciated the daily updates and photos too—it was lovely to see how happy she was. We’d definitely use Sarah again and highly recommend her!

Thank you so much for looking after Buddy and collecting him. I knew he would be in safe hands with you whilst away on holiday. Elif definitely cares about your pets and makes them as comfortable as possible. Our buddy suffers from anxiety when away from home and she helped him adjust till we arrived home.

I’ve had an amazing experience with Leanne. She responded quickly, was incredibly professional, and was a pleasure to communicate with. She immediately understood exactly what my dog needed, asked all the right questions, and showed a natural instinct for canine care. It was clear from the start that she genuinely understands dogs and cares about their wellbeing. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and knowledgeable dog sitter.

Sara kept us updated with photos, how Bentley was settling down as it was the first time leaving him without family having him. He was clearly having the best time on he’s own little holiday with Sara and the children. He loved he’s walks and quiet time :) Would highly recommend

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
