“It was re-assuring to see Heidi bond straight away with our young Bichon Frise Leia, when we dropped her off. It gave us the confidence to enjoy our few days away without worrying about Leia. While we were away we got daily updates from Heidi with photographs. When we got back Leia was relaxed....and clearly had come to terms with the changes in her young life. All good and we will ask Heidi to look after Leia again.”

“Shishir and Marion took great care of Alfie, from the start they saw I was anxious about leaving him with a strangers and did everything they could help reassure me, allowing me to schedule a few meetings and greets to get to know them and for them to get to know Alfie. Throughout my stay I got daily updates and pictures and felt constantly reassured he was happy whilst I was enjoying my holiday. I would book them again without a doubt and highly recommend them!”

Absolutely perfect 🤩 I would give more stars if I could! XX”

About: I have been around dogs since childhood and have had a Border collie from a pup up to senior years. I have looked after my Daughters Hungarian Vizsla since he was a puppy and he is now 3 years old, I still have him a couple of days/nights a week since she has moved house. I am very confident with high energy dogs( you don't get much more energetic than a Collie and a Vizsla!😄. I love dogs of all breeds and ages (although I do have a soft spot for the oldies) and prefer their company to humans as I'm sure most dog owners do🥰. I have taken early retirement from a busy office job and love spending my mornings going for a walk at the local parks and woodland which I am very lucky to have close by. I have a good size garden for playtime and dogs are welcome for a snuggle on the sofa with a cosy blanket. I'm no longer working so will have plenty of free time with your pups for walks, play and cuddles. I am flexible throughout the week and weekends for boarding when available. I have a fenced in garden and am around all day if your dog is anxious and needs company. Also have a bouncy 3 year old Viszla to hand for playtime if they are happy to do so.I have a large crate available if this is what your dog is more comfortable using for sleeping and chill time.
“Gabriella is lovely, and she and her family took good care of Rocco whilst we were away. She kept me updated throughout his stay and was very accommodating in keeping him for an extra night. Highly recommend.”

About: Hey! It’s Javi here 😁 I have been very lucky because I always lived with dogs in my house since I was little. I grew up around them and I always enjoyed taking care of them, playing and spending time together. Since I moved to the UK, I did not have the stability to adopt a dog here, but now I have a very flexible work schedule and I would love to spend time caring for dogs again and give them attention, company and love. I have a very flexible work routine, which allows me to adapt easily to the needs of each pet. During the day I can give them attention, walks, playtime and company, making sure they feel comfortable and cared for. My weekly schedule is also flexible, so I can keep a consistent routine and give pets the time and care they need. I enjoy spending time with animals and making them feel happy and safe. I can take care of pets both at my home and in their own houses, depending on what works better for the owner and the pet. I live in a ground floor one bedroom apartment with access to a communal garden, which gives pets a comfortable and calm environment. I always make sure they have attention, playtime, company and feel safe and relaxed during their stay. I can also adapt to their usual routines to make them feel more comfortable.

Harry, my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, had a wonderful time staying with Sarah. He loved her other Cavaliers and enjoyed great walks and lots of cuddles. He was so chilled when we arrived back to pick him up that he barely lifted his head from the comfiest, softiest bean bag that I've ever seen! We had a wonderful holiday knowing that Harry was being cared for with kindness and love. We can't thank you enough and look forward to seeing you soon!

Tanirika gave us regular updates throughout his stay and we could see he was thoroughly enjoying himself and was in great hands. This was the second time that Jess cared for our little Beagle boy, and the longest time we have ever been away. What can I say, Jess was absolutely amazing (again). She provided daily photo/video updates, and clearly cared very much about putting our minds at rest. She made our little boy feel like he was at home, and he did not want to leave 😂 I would absolutely recommend Jess to anyone - she is a star!

Thank you so so much for Sadie’s wonderful stay (again!) She loves her walks with you and had lots of fun playing with the other dog staying with you. We love receiving the photos of what she’s up to, thank you! We’ll definitely be booking her in for another stay next time we go away.

I have used Beata’s services twice for Cooper and she has been fantastic in her commitment towards great care of my boy. She has been pampering him with additional food and taking care of his ailing paw once she identified that issue with antibiotics. Would recommend her to anyone who is looking for services within the South Hatfield area

Leo and Chico have stayed with Melanie several times now, and they absolutely love it! They are always happy to go back, enjoy being around other furry friends, and come home relaxed and well cared for. Melanie keeps us updated and gives us great peace of mind when we’re away. We wouldn’t trust anyone else with our boys. Highly recommended! 🐶🐾

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
