“Sarah and her adorable pugs took such wonderful care of our dog. We received regular updates, including photos and videos from her many nature walks, and when we returned, she seemed completely at home. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.”

“Catherine treated our Lenny like one of the family while we were away for a week, it was clear he really liked her and also that she liked him. He came home so calm and happy, we worried he’d want to stay with her, poppy, and her girls. We will definitely be using again.”

“Jasraj was very warm and friendly and very professional. He sent photos everyday and it was clear he walked the dogs everyday. He always got back to us right away when we messaged him. 100% would hire him again and recommend fully to anyone else.”

“Another great experience with Shelley and Dave! Our little Jack had an amazing time with their family and we could not be happier with their care and dedication”

“Casper had an amazing time with Nathalie and her lovely dog, Tilly! I couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter during the month-plus I was away. Nathalie took such great care of my fur-baby, she kept me updated regularly with thoughtful messages, adorable photos, and fun videos that really put my mind at ease. It was clear that Casper felt right at home. I’m so grateful to have found someone so kind, reliable, and attentive. Highly recommend!”

“I was nervous at leaving my 7 month old pup whilst I went away for a week but I needn’t have been. Our pup had the best time with Fiona and the other dogs he was boarding with. Fiona gave daily updates with lots of pictures and videos which was great. Our pooch has come back from his holiday with Fiona more confident and calm. I would highly recommend Fiona to care for your dog and I know my pooch will be counting down to his next stay. Especially if his new bestie Akuna is there too! Thank you! X”

“Kellie and Andy were great and our black lab Alfie absolutely loved his time with them. They were very quick to reply and also asked questions to understand what Alfie needs in order to take best care of him. We got daily updates which were lovely - Alfie seemed so happy. It went so well that we’ve rebooked for our little boy to stay with them again. Would definitely recommend them, they are lovely 🐾 ♥️”

“Corinne was brilliant with Poppy. It was reassuring to be sent photos every day and I could see how happy she was. Corinne went out of her way to make sure that Poppy felt settled and happy and I would 100% recommend her.”

“Lauren is an amazing sitter! Lauren was super responsive and helpful - both her and Matt took great care of my dog, who was very happy and relaxed. Highly recommend”

“Angelika has looked after my cocker spaniel Oakley three times over recent weeks, once during the day and twice overnight, and each time I have been very happy with the service she provides. Great communication made it nice and easy to arrange drop offs and pick ups. It was really good to receive updates on how it was going, including pictures and videos, and for Oakley to spend time with other dogs. I appreciated the feedback I got from Angelika on how he behaved, including a handy training tip. I would definitely recommend Angelika to anyone looking for a dog sitter, and I’ll be sure to book again whenever I need Oakley looking after. Thank you Angelika to you and to your husband for doing a great job.”

“Jess has been looking after Elvis for several months now and has always been an amazing home for him to go to. He loves spending time with Jess and Pepper, and Jess goes above and beyond to look after the dogs under her card, even renting out space for the dogs to have their own private playtime as well as giving elvis a wash when he’s got a bit too mucky! Thank you Jess for everything you do, we would highly recommend 😊”

“I couldn’t have asked for a better cat sitter! From the very beginning, they were professional, reliable, and genuinely caring. It was clear they truly love animals, and my cat warmed up to them much faster than expected, which says a lot. They kept me updated with regular messages and photos, which gave me real peace of mind while I was away. I came home to a happy, relaxed cat and everything exactly as I left it. It’s such a relief knowing my pet was in such safe and attentive hands. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate cat sitter, and I’ll definitely be booking with them again in the future!”

About: I’ve had pets since I can remember and have always had a dog in the family home. My partner Declan and I are the go-to dog sitters for our friends and families, looking after dogs of all shapes and sizes from cuddly cockapoos to energetic springer spaniels! My family dog was a rescue and so I’m familiar dealing with dogs who are anxious on the lead/need a little more care than some others. We live in an apartment and are unable to get our own permanent dog just yet, but love taking care of other people’s to fill the puppy shaped hole! As we are in an apartment however we’re unable to take on any pets that aren’t fully toilet trained. We understand the value of routine and love to take care of every dog as though they were our own, with long walks both in town and through the surrounding countryside. Your dog will feel safe and at home with us, and you’ll get regular pup-dates so you can be sure they’re enjoying their stay! I work from the office two days per week but can be flexible with this to accommodate mid-week bookings. I’m available for boarding on weekends and weekdays after 5pm. We have an outside area for bathroom breaks and your dog will be supervised whenever they are outside. We love cuddles on the sofa but do ask for medium/large dogs to sleep on their own bed rather than sharing ours!
“Sue and James were incredible looking after our pug, Loki. They kept in contact with us regularly while we were away on holiday, sending us photos and videos and giving us updates on how Loki was doing. They also have two beautiful dogs, who have a lovely temperament, which I am sure helped to put Loki at ease. Highly recommend!”

“Linda is just amazing. She kept us updated with lots of messages, photos & videos & it looked like she had a wonderful time. Linda is such a lovely lady, really gentle & loving and instantly gelled with Sneaky. It was amazing to go away knowing she was in such safe hands. Thank you so much Linda!”

“Jennifer was brilliant whilst my family and I were on Holiday! My dog had never been left alone with anyone else before and after a couple of days felt right at home. Nice to get regular updates with short videos. I would absolutely recommend and I will only be using Jenn moving forwards. 😁”

About: I've owned dogs all my adult life. I recently lost my beloved Cavachon Winnie and feel this is the right time to become a sitter. I miss the company of having a dog and feel this is the ideal solution I'm retired so your pet will fit into my routine easily. I have a huge park literally across the road where I take your dog for a good run or leisurely walk My house is dog friendly in every aspect. The garden is fully enclosed. If you dog sleeps on the bed they sleep with me. If your dog is allowed on the sofa he's allowed on mine. Home from home is my home
“Ted has another great stay with Alessia. Hes always very excited to see her and loves spending time with her. We always have regular updates and pictures on what Ted’s been up to and highly recommend Alessia.”

Our 12 year old cockapoo was well looked after by Nathalie and her husband, along with their lovely dog Tilly. Having not left our dog with a home boarder for a couple of years it was great to meet Nathalie beforehand and share a walk. We appreciated the updates with photos and a video whilst we were aware which showed that he was happy and settled. We would highly recommend Nathalie.

Fiona looked after Winnie for the first time whilst we were away for a week and her (and her family) were utterly fantastic. Great communication, environment and hosts- you can tell they love looking after dogs. Would love for Winnie to stay again & would recommend!

Corinne was amazing with our puppy, Ziggy. She kept us updated with lots of photos and messages, which really put us at ease and made us feel like Ziggy was in the best hands. Thank you so much for taking such great care of him. We’ll definitely be booking with Corinne again! ☺️

Sherman has stayed with Angelika and her partner several times now, and we couldn't be happier with the care they provide. They always keep us updated with photos and messages, which is very reassuring when we're away. Sherman is always happy to see them and comes home relaxed and well cared for. We feel completely comfortable leaving him with them and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for trustworthy and caring sitters.

Kim took excellent care of my dog Lola while I was away. She treated Lola like her own, giving plenty of attention, walks, and care. Communication was great, I received regular updates and photos. Lola clearly loved staying with Kim. Highly recommend and will 100% book again.

Charlie had an absolutely amazing time with Riley, Mahmud and his partner. They looked after him very well taking care of his complex needs. Charlie was a very happy boy and was very comfortable with them both when I came to pick him up. He will definitely be returning.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
