“Lauren and Matt gave our dog George a warm home to stay! I was reassured that George would be looked after like their own; sofa cuddles, games in the garden and long walks. The photo updates were so much appreciated! I am so glad that we have found them to care for George, they are perfect 🥰 x”

“A holiday is important to us all - but leaving your pet behind and worrying can be difficult. So we have to share our delight and gratitude to SUE A who put us and our Shiatsu WILLOW at ease from our first meet and greet. SUE shows most importantly that the services she provides for Dogs is a passion not just an income. Sue's own Dog Barney also makes the comfort and confidence needed to initiate a support service for our family holiday abroad much easier seeing Barney with a very calm and gentle character - WILLOW swiftly settled on the trial visit. SUE's set up is nicely accessible, lovely home too. Removing all those concerns and worry's that our Dog Sitter is that famous phrase 'SAFE HANDS', allowed our holiday to be stress free. Thank You SUE A - You were swift, communicative and we know WILLOW had her own fab holiday with you and Barney. YOU HAVE A GREAT BUSINESS/SERVICE - SO NICELY BALANCED WITH GOOD VALUE TOO. Keith, Nic, George & Willow 👍👍”

“Ted has another great stay with Alessia. Hes always very excited to see her and loves spending time with her. We always have regular updates and pictures on what Ted’s been up to and highly recommend Alessia.”

“Sonia C. looked after my dog, Wicket, over the Christmas period from the 17th to the 2nd and did a fantastic job. She was reliable, caring, and made sure Wicket was well looked after while I was away, which gave me real peace of mind. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and attentive dog sitter, and I will definitely be using her again in the future.”

“Chester loved his stay and would highly recommend Tania. She sent regular and fab updates about all the fun they were having. It was lovely to not have to worry about the pup at all. Will definitely look to re-book 🥰”

“Lisa & Alex were absolutely fantastic with Wilf! He is a big excitable puppy who doesn’t really know his size & seems to have endless energy! But we got so many photos & videos of him having the best time. We were a little nervous to leave him but we’re out at ease with a photo of him sleeping soundly not long after we left him! Lisa & Alex’s place was really a home away from home. Thank you so much.”
“This was the first time using Rover. I’d been recommended it by a friend & I was so pleased that I did. Both dogs had an amazing time with Thaiza & her family, who sent regulars photos & updates. I will definitely be booking again with her.”
“Mark and Katie were absolutely fantastic with our Whippet, Blue. From the start, we felt completely confident leaving her in their care. They’re warm, attentive, and clearly adore dogs, treating Blue like one of their own. We really appreciated the updates and photos, which gave us total peace of mind while we were away. Blue had the best time and has become best friends with Watson — it’s so lovely to see how much she enjoys being with them! She came home happy, relaxed, and clearly very well cared for. We wouldn’t hesitate to highly recommend Mark and Katie to anyone looking for amazing dog sitters.”

“Wendy is fantastic, would highly recommend. Made my nervous chihuahua feel loved from the moment he arrived. Put my mind at rest leaving him with such a lovely kind person. I received regular updates and photos. Seems like he has had wonderful time with lots of cuddles. A home from home for your dog. Thank you so much Wendy. Would use again and again.”

“Outstanding sitters! Jasmin and Ted were absolute lifesavers when we had a last-minute three-night hospital stay for the birth of our baby. They welcomed our cockapoo, Eddie, with open arms and treated him like royalty. Their flexibility and kindness took a huge weight off our minds. We got lots of updates and photos of a very happy dog. We came home to a relaxed Eddie, which is the best sign of a wonderful stay. Cannot recommend and thank them highly enough!”

“Aleksandra is brilliant at what she does . She loves dogs and that is evident as soon as you walk through the door . She took our dog on at relatively short notice and we certainly made the right choice in choosing her . She has a lovely home and we will certainly be re booking with Aleksandra again very soon !”

“Lisa was absolutely fantastic with our dog, Rocky. From the moment we met her, it was clear she genuinely cared and took the time to get to know him and understand his personality and routine. Throughout our holiday, she sent regular updates, photos and messages, which gave us so much reassurance and meant we could completely relax knowing Rocky was happy and in such safe hands. He was incredibly well looked after, and it was obvious he received plenty of love and attention from Lisa and her family while we were away. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lisa to anyone looking for a caring, reliable and trustworthy dog sitter. Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of Rocky!”

“Corinne was brilliant with Poppy. It was reassuring to be sent photos every day and I could see how happy she was. Corinne went out of her way to make sure that Poppy felt settled and happy and I would 100% recommend her.”

“There are not enough stars to express how amazing was our dogs stay at Billy and Page home ❤️ Our doggo is a big rescue with anxiety issues and can be difficult at times, but Billy and Page handles him so well, and he was so happy to stay with them. Chloe took our dog for a few hours while we were staying at nearby Center Parcs so we could eat out. She was very accommodating with a time change and sent us photos of him while in her care. He is a little nervous and so it was very reassuring that he settled, even though only with her and her family for a few hours.

We had a wonderful time away thanks to Natalie’s great care of Ronnie. We felt he had a little holiday too and we even received a lovely postcard from him as well as lots of other photos and texts. Ronnie has a sensitive stomach and Natalie listened very carefully to make sure he didn’t become unwell. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Natalie and we’d love it if Ronnie can stay again.

What a lovely family who kindly gave the best care to Layla for a last minute weekend booking. Thaiza and Chris welcomed Layla into their home with their two young children and puppy and made Layla feel so relaxed and welcomed. The pictures sent to us were so adorable and appreciated too 😊 thank you all 🙌🏻 we would 100 percent recommend this lovely family to care for your pets x

I can honestly say that Katryzna was outstanding in looking after my elderly dog Bailey. I had total peace of mind in leaving him with her. She sent photos and updates daily. He was very chilled and relaxed and well cared for. I would have no hesitation in recommending her. Total Star 🌟

My lab Bailey had an amazing stay with Florence. I was caught out last minute when my previous sitter cancelled. Florence got back to me super quick, and even made herself available for a meet and greet at the park before Bailey’s stay. Bail looked like he had the time of his life while I was away, Florence sent through some amazing photos and it was great to know he was having a ball. It’s always hard leaving your pup, but Florence genuinely made Bailey a part of the family, and he loved Bonzo’s company during his stay. Couldn’t recommend Florence highly enough, Bailey was so well looked after, and I’ve already booked him for my next trip away!

Charlotte and her family welcomed Talli into their home just as if they'd always known her. The regular picture updates gave us the confidence to know she'd settled in and wasn't stressing at all. We can highly recommend Charlotte and would have absolutely no hesitation in using her again.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
