Whether it’s a day visit or an overnight stay, Clare consistently delivers exceptional care. Our spaniel puppy Teddy absolutely adored the 10 days spent with Clare. She goes above and beyond to ensure every pup feels at home, and the frequent updates and photos are a wonderful touch that gives us peace of mind. She’s now our go-to for dog care, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone. Thank you, Clare, for the incredible love and attention you give to our much-loved puppy. We’ll definitely be booking with you again!

I couldnt recommend Lilly and her family more highly to be trusted with your pet. Her warm and friendly nature with pets and their humans makes everyone feel comfortable. My pet certainly made herself at home with her! The frequent updates and photos are appreciated and I am already booking in with Lilly again.

We left our nervous rescue dog with Andrea for a week to attend our son's wedding abroad as we knew that he would find a kennel environment distressing. We had been able to meet and greet before we left and it was clear that Andrea had a lovely calm manner with Django, giving him the time to relax with her. We dropped him off the evening before we left, feeling confident that he would be in good hands. We were kept updated with photos and video clips of Django whilst we were away from which we could see that he was happy, relaxed and well cared for and when we picked him up on our return, his greetings and attentions were shared equally between us all, including Andrea!! It is clear that Andrea is kind and reliable and has a genuine love of dogs. We would not hesitate to leave Django with her again (we are already discussing our next trip!) and wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter. Thank you, Andrea for taking such wonderful care of Django. Until next time!

Donna and Simon are fantastic. They look after our 1 year old male Cocker Spaniel so well that he loves going round and cries with excitement as we arrive. Our boy has made their home his second home and adores Donna and Simon to bits. We have booked a one night and a 7 night stay. On his stays we get daily updates with photos. We’re so happy to have found Donna through Rover and will definitely book with her again.

About: We have had family dogs for the last 11 years, we currently have 2 bearded collies, Merlin (11yrs) and Griffon (5yrs) and they are regular visitors to our new home we recently purchased! There is plenty of room for fun in the fenced garden and other very friendly dogs in the neighbourhood we may bump into on walks. I work from home so there will always be someone around for your furry friend. I work remotely full time, however I have a very active lifestyle and go for walks in the morning, lunch times and evenings. I also have a flexible work schedule and with enough notice can make day time walks work if required Our family dogs do not live with us, they are with my in-laws, however as retired parents should be, they are very keen travellers and we are very happy dog sitters! As mentioned, we have a fenced in garden and lots of surrounding areas for dog walks. I work from home so am around to monitor and keep fluffy friends company.

I wouldn’t hesitate to leave Amba with Lucy again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable dog sitter. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much Abigail and James for taking such great care of Bella! Bella can be anxious but Abigail is very experienced and was incredibly understanding and accommodating of her needs and our requests. I felt completely confident leaving Bella in their care, Abigail let us know how she was doing and she had a very happy and relaxed stay! We feel very lucky to have found such kind people to look after her and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Abigail and James to anyone looking for a dog sitter, including those with anxious or reactive dogs :)

We cannot thank James enough for looking after Rafferty. James kept us up to date with pic's of Raff enjoying himself. He obviously understands dogs really well and is so so patient.... we have an active little Jack Russell, and both James and his pup Benji put up with him for the night, taking great care of him and looking after him. I would 100% recommend James (and Benji) to anyone in the area.

Sebastian was very reliable and kept me updated with photos and regular updates of how Nala is doing and what she’s been doing. I was able to relax knowing she is safe and happy. Wisha had a lovely time with Lidia on his two night stay - we were sent lots of pictures where he looked very comfortable and happy. He is not a good eater but Lidia managed to get him to eat twice a day which shows he must have been very relaxed. Lidia was very responsive to all our requests which resulted in Wisha having a great stay.

A huge thank you to Lauren! After being let down by our original dog sitter, we were so lucky that Lauren had last-minute availability to look after Skye for a week while we were away on our family holiday. Lauren kept us updated with regular photos of Skye enjoying her walks, which gave us such peace of mind while we were away. It was clear from the photos that Skye had a fantastic time and was very happy in Lauren’s care. We would highly recommend Lauren and wouldn’t hesitate to book her again. 🐾❤️

100% recommend!! What a fantastic couple couldnt of wished for a better stay for my dog. Every need for my dog was met with ease not a worry from me as we had beautiful photos of him playing with the other dogs boarding, out on walks and even chilling in their garden. Even in this heat he was happy and spoiled. This was my very first experience leaving my dog through ROVER and with this experience I’ll be more then happy to booking again. 🤩

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Boarding in East Hertfordshire on Rover is £34.5 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Boarding easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Boarding. For more information on service fees, click here .

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
