“Claire has been a fantastic dog sitter for Murphy. She is very communicative and trustworthy, clearly knows what she’s doing, and has loads of experience. Murphy was comfortable and well cared for in her hands, which gave us real peace of mind. Highly recommend her.”

“Kara is amazing ! Our patsy lives staying with her! We cannot thank her ! The photos and reassurance, we always know patsy will have a great time with Kara! Thank you so much”

“Maya felt very good while staying with Carina. She sent me lots of pictures and kept me updated on everything Maya was doing. I will definitely ask her again to look after my dog.”

“We left our nervous rescue dog with Andrea for a week to attend our son's wedding abroad as we knew that he would find a kennel environment distressing. We had been able to meet and greet before we left and it was clear that Andrea had a lovely calm manner with Django, giving him the time to relax with her. We dropped him off the evening before we left, feeling confident that he would be in good hands. We were kept updated with photos and video clips of Django whilst we were away from which we could see that he was happy, relaxed and well cared for and when we picked him up on our return, his greetings and attentions were shared equally between us all, including Andrea!! It is clear that Andrea is kind and reliable and has a genuine love of dogs. We would not hesitate to leave Django with her again (we are already discussing our next trip!) and wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter. Thank you, Andrea for taking such wonderful care of Django. Until next time!”

About: We have had family dogs for the last 11 years, we currently have 2 bearded collies, Merlin (11yrs) and Griffon (5yrs) and they are regular visitors to our new home we recently purchased! There is plenty of room for fun in the fenced garden and other very friendly dogs in the neighbourhood we may bump into on walks. I work from home so there will always be someone around for your furry friend. I work remotely full time, however I have a very active lifestyle and go for walks in the morning, lunch times and evenings. I also have a flexible work schedule and with enough notice can make day time walks work if required Our family dogs do not live with us, they are with my in-laws, however as retired parents should be, they are very keen travellers and we are very happy dog sitters! As mentioned, we have a fenced in garden and lots of surrounding areas for dog walks. I work from home so am around to monitor and keep fluffy friends company.
“Demitria and her family , looked after Remi brilliantly. First time Remi stayed over and I didn’t have to worry ..Demitria sent me a message to say she was happy and settled, she can be a nervous dog with not having the best start in life , think little Rosie dog 🐕 definitely helps remi giving her more confidence, especially on walks as Remi can pull to come home if she’s scared but with dementia and her lovely family she is walking out without these problems, so thank you for giving me the confidence at the very beginning of our meeting to let Remi be with you all . I’ve already booked Remi in again to stay at there house and I know Remi can’t wait to see them again as when we pull up outside , she’s looking for there house straight away to get inside . So thank you all again for being so kind and understanding of Remi and her needs plus mine xx”

“Nadja had our big, energetic Border Collie for just over a week. He comes with his quirks and required lots of physical excerise, but this was handled amazingly. Nadja sent us photos and updates every day. We could relax seeing that he was happy and getting all the walks he needed in the beautiful countryside and parks.”

“I would highly recommend Laurita as a dog carer! She has been incredibly attentive and caring towards my dog, providing him with the love and attention he needs while I am away. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure my dog is happy and well taken care of. I appreciate her reliability, communication, and genuine passion for animals. I feel confident and at ease knowing my dog is in such good hands with her. Thank you for all that you do!”

About: I am an experienced dog owner I have had rescues & puppies. I live with my fiancé Kallum & we have a 6 year old staffie girl named babs who loves playing with other dogs. I have also cared for elderly dogs as well as dogs with health conditions & allergies. I will give your dog all the love & attention whilst they are with me! My helping hand care givers are as follows: Kallum - my fiancé who can support in the evenings and weekends Tina - my mum who is on hand in case of emergencies, she is also a dog lover and has her own 3 year old cockapoo I work full time predominately from home. My office days are Tuesdays but there is always someone available to be there for the dogs if boarding for long stay. I am often home on weekends and able to give your dog all the love, affection & walks My back garden is totally secure so dogs are completely safe. Dogs are allowed to sit on sofas with owners permission, I wouldn't want to instill any bad habits they're not allowed to do at home. I do have my own 6 year old staffie girl so any dog staying would need to be happy socialising with other dogs.
“Thank you Donna for looking after Eva for an overnight stay on Monday. It’s clear that Eva is comfortable staying with you and we appreciate your flexibility over sleeping arrangements and giving her plenty of attention. We look forward to booking her in for a longer stay so we can finally take a holiday abroad. Best wishes Andrew and Lindsey”

“Melanie did a fantastic job filling in for a last-minute sitter change. She went out of her way to drive a long distance to get our dog while we were out of town, and kept us updated at every step. She sent us photos and updates daily, took our dog on outings and to a family gathering which our dog loved! We will definitely be using Melanie's service again.”

“We cannot thank James enough for looking after Rafferty. James kept us up to date with pic's of Raff enjoying himself. He obviously understands dogs really well and is so so patient.... we have an active little Jack Russell, and both James and his pup Benji put up with him for the night, taking great care of him and looking after him. I would 100% recommend James (and Benji) to anyone in the area.”

About: I absolutely adore dogs and cats and have been around them and have taken care of them throughout most of my life. I have a professional background in pet care as I have worked for two different services while living in New York City (Barkly Pets and Oh To Be A Dog) where I traveled all around the city visiting and walking dogs. It was one of my favorite jobs I've ever had and it would be my pleasure to help out anyone in or around Hertford who need someone to look after this furry little friend! I'm currently working part time and will either have the day or evening fully open on weekdays to walk or visit your pet! During the weekend, I am more than happy to be fully available to have your pet stay here in my home. I have a very flexible schedule so I can more than likely adhere to your schedule and needs! I live in a house in Hertford that has a fairly small fenced in garden where your pet can use to relieve themselves or sunbathe. I also have a very cool basement where your pet can go if it's a bit too warm outside. There is also a huge and beautiful park right near my house where I can take your dog for nice long walk as well. I will make sure to have water and snacks on hand as well if they are ever hungry or thirsty as well.

About: Dogs are the best furfwends in the world. I am loving, caring and my dog always comes first. It is important to always put your dogs needs before yourself. Dogs come first. I can offer all the cuddles and kisses to you pups. I work from home 4 days a week so it works perfectly and I am here with the dog all day to let them out. I also live right near a green area to take them out before and after work but also on my lunch break. I have a open living space with a balcony with grass on for dogs to sit on and watch the world go by. My dog loves to do this. He also sleeps on the sofa and bed which your pups are welcome to do!
About: I've grown up with both cats and dogs, from Rottweilers to Schnauzers, animals have always been a big part of my life. I have looked after friends and family dogs, which I adore. My partner Hernan works from home and adores dogs, he is very excited to have another dog to play with ! Meaning your dog would never be alone. We share our home with little Stanley, a 6 year old rescue dog who is full of love. He enjoys playing with other dogs and is a big fan of his afternoon naps. Your dog would be treated like family and given all the love, attention, and care they deserve. Stanley and I go on two daily walks and he’d be thrilled to have a new friend to join us on our adventures. I am a part time flight attendant, so your dog would be with me on my days off and never alone. I am fully DBS checked. We have a lovely fully fenced in garden and live two minutes from the park. The dogs can have free range around our home, sofas aren’t off limits :)
“Thank you Yhozmin & Uli for looking after Wilson. The picture you sent across showed he had a great time with you and the family. I would recommend the service to all!”

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - East Hertfordshire
100% recommend!! What a fantastic couple couldnt of wished for a better stay for my dog. Every need for my dog was met with ease not a worry from me as we had beautiful photos of him playing with the other dogs boarding, out on walks and even chilling in their garden. Even in this heat he was happy and spoiled. This was my very first experience leaving my dog through ROVER and with this experience I’ll be more then happy to booking again. 🤩

Demitria and her family have been absolutely amazing with Fuji and Kita during their stay. They settled in straight away and by the looks of the pictures , had a brilliant time with many walks and cuddles. I would highly recommend Demitria for boarding services. Thank you again to you and your family for looking after Fuji and Kita like they were your own.

Sam looked after my two cockapoos for 2 nights and I'm very happy with the experience. We met beforehand for a meet and greet for my pups to meet Baxter and Sam which was handled really well. I received lovely little updates and photos and would gladly book again. I highly recommend

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
