“Anna is a responsive, reliable and effective dog sitter - we had complete confidence in her over the 10 days we were away. She provided regular updates and attentive care for our dog, that suffers from some separation anxiety. Recommended.”

“Nicola and her husband were fantastic with our dog Katsu. He was clearly very well cared for and came back happy and relaxed. They sent regular photo updates and took him on lovely long walks, which we really appreciated. Katsu had a fantastic time during his stay, and it’s obvious he enjoyed every moment with them. We’re incredibly thankful for their care and attention, and wouldn’t hesitate to book with them again. Highly recommended!”

“Wow. If you ever need someone who you can trust to LOVE your dog and you not have to worry about how your dog is, Oana is your lady! Continuous updates - photos and updates.he was treated like a member of the family! Dexter can’t wait for his next holiday. Thank you x”

“Maya felt very good while staying with Carina. She sent me lots of pictures and kept me updated on everything Maya was doing. I will definitely ask her again to look after my dog.”

“Beth has been absolutely wonderful with Phoebe. From the very beginning, she’s been kind, patient and incredibly understanding of Phoebe’s needs, especially as she’s going through a bit of a sensitive period. Beth really took the time to make sure Phoebe felt comfortable and suggested starting with shorter stays to help her settle in gradually, which we truly appreciated. We felt completely at ease leaving Phoebe with her and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her. Thank you again, Beth xx”

“Jin is a rockstar and gave our dear boy a first class experience. Jin did a fabulous job on giving us daily updates to our elderly dogs activities. Our dog, Hank, had a great time and we look forward to booking Jin again in the future.”

“We cannot thank Stephanie enough! She was a total lifesaver after our previous sitter let us down just one week before our trip. Despite the short notice, she stepped in with so much professionalism and care. It was such a relief to know our dog Millie was in great hands, and we could finally relax on our holiday. She provided top-tier care and kept us updated throughout. She’s reliable, kind, and we will definitely be booking her again!”

About: I've had dogs in my family since I was a child, from Spaniels to German Shepherds Often look after friends and family pets , would love to be able to help people out by looking after their 4 legged family members I'm semi retired from the job I've been doing for 35 years, had a dog up to 3 years ago and decided not to get another as I was still working. Caring for someone else's dog seems like a great way to have a dog in my life again and help you out I have a fenced garden and miles of countryside for walking your dog, am happy to look after your family member at yours or my home
About: We have had family dogs for the last 11 years, we currently have 2 bearded collies, Merlin (11yrs) and Griffon (5yrs) and they are regular visitors to our new home we recently purchased! There is plenty of room for fun in the fenced garden and other very friendly dogs in the neighbourhood we may bump into on walks. I work from home so there will always be someone around for your furry friend. I work remotely full time, however I have a very active lifestyle and go for walks in the morning, lunch times and evenings. I also have a flexible work schedule and with enough notice can make day time walks work if required Our family dogs do not live with us, they are with my in-laws, however as retired parents should be, they are very keen travellers and we are very happy dog sitters! As mentioned, we have a fenced in garden and lots of surrounding areas for dog walks. I work from home so am around to monitor and keep fluffy friends company.

“Karine made a really good connection with our dog Artie. We felt very assured that Artie was in good care and sent regular updates during his stay. Artie looked like he was having lots of fun!”

“We used Charlie for a day boarding for my dog Freddie. They live in an ideal location for dogs, and Freddie had the best time. We got sent regular picture and video updates, which showed Freddie having the time of his life. Lovely owners, with a lovely dog themselves, I would use them again in a heartbeat.”

“Tracey kindly had our 14 ur old cockerpoo Lila for the first time last week, for 7 nights. We were kept updated daily with photos & messages which were really helpful to my wife & myself. We collected lila today & Lila was really calm & relaxed. Would definitely recommend Tracey 10/10 from us”

“We left our nervous rescue dog with Andrea for a week to attend our son's wedding abroad as we knew that he would find a kennel environment distressing. We had been able to meet and greet before we left and it was clear that Andrea had a lovely calm manner with Django, giving him the time to relax with her. We dropped him off the evening before we left, feeling confident that he would be in good hands. We were kept updated with photos and video clips of Django whilst we were away from which we could see that he was happy, relaxed and well cared for and when we picked him up on our return, his greetings and attentions were shared equally between us all, including Andrea!! It is clear that Andrea is kind and reliable and has a genuine love of dogs. We would not hesitate to leave Django with her again (we are already discussing our next trip!) and wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter. Thank you, Andrea for taking such wonderful care of Django. Until next time!”

I was so nervous about leaving Merlin behind to go to a cousin’s wedding abroad, but Martha made sure to make me feel reassured and confident he was in good hands. She is very kind, and made sure to send you plenty of updates of how he was doing. I would 100% recommend her to anyone who wants their dog to be in safe hands and have a good time too!

Jin was incredible, I was very nervous about leaving my girl with a sitter for the first time but he was so welcoming and even offered to show us his place for peace of mind! Secure home and lovely area for walks. Perfect communication. Asked all the questions that I hadn’t considered in order to give my pup the best care. Really lovely pictures and videos of the little one were sent showing what a great time she was having. She came home happy and relaxed. Super grateful for such a positive first experience. Thank you so much Jin and Partner!!

Deniz looked after my 9 month old puppy who is very anxious meeting new people, I couldn’t recommend her enough! She took amazing care of Oakley played with him all the time and reassured us that he was okay by sending pictures!! Oakley had the best time with deniz would highly recommend and will be using her again!!! X

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ plus for Katie, we left our two beagles Bentley and Luna for the first time for two nights at Katie’s, thus was the first time we have left them with a sitter, so a little nervous, we didn’t need to worry, she updated us with what they were doing, she sent photos 🥰 Bentley is on medication, no problem, she kept to our routine with walks, feeding times and bedtime routine. Katie was amazing. We would definitely ask her again. Bentley and Luna were so chilled when we picked them up, I don’t think they wanted to come home 😉 Thank you Katie and Harry for looking after them 🐾🐾🩷💙

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
