We got a photo of Boo every day and she gave details on how she was doing without prompting. She was very quick to respond to any questions and I felt my pet to be in very good hands!

About: Hi! I’ve always grown up with animals, we have two dogs and a cat at my family home and I used to look after them a lot, so I’m very used to daily walks, feeding, playtime and just giving them attention. I can’t have my own pets at the moment, which is why I’d really love to look after other people’s, I honestly just miss having animals around. I work flexibly so I can give pets a lot of time and attention throughout the day. I’m happy to do dog walking or pet sitting, and I’ll always make sure your pet feels comfortable and safe. I have a DBS check as well, so you can feel reassured your pet is in good hands. I’m also happy to send updates and photos while you’re away. I know every pet is different, so I’ll just follow their routine and what they’re used to, whether that’s lots of play or just chilling. Pet care fits really naturally into my routine because I work from home and have a flexible schedule. I’m able to take regular breaks during the day, which makes it easy to go out for walks, do check-ins, or spend time playing and giving attention. Having a pet to look after actually works really well for me too, it encourages me to get outside, stay active, and keep a good daily routine. Because of this, I can give pets consistent time and attention rather than trying to fit them around a busy schedule. When caring for pets, I always adapt to what they’re used to so they feel as comfortable and stress-free as possible. In a pet owner’s home, I stick closely to their usual routine — feeding times, walks, playtime, and any specific instructions. I make sure they get plenty of attention and companionship, keep their space clean, and monitor their behaviour to make sure they’re happy and well. I’m also very respectful of the home and always leave everything as I found it. I’m happy to send regular updates and photos so owners feel reassured while they’re away. For dog walking, I make sure each walk suits the dog’s energy level and needs, whether that’s a longer, active walk or something slower and more relaxed. I always prioritise safety and keep dogs secure and comfortable at all times

About: At my family house I have Florence, an 8 year old golden doodle, and Dolly, a 19 year old tabby cat. I miss them a lot living in London, Florence often comes to stay or I house sit them at my family home in Kent as my parents travel frequently but I would love some more furry friends to make my walks and work from home a little less lonely (I work from home twice a week). I also volunteered at Blue Cross veterinary centre in 2023, cleaning down the kennels in the outpatient centre. I work from home 2 days a week and I’m happy to have dogs during the day for both of our company and take them for walks when I have breaks. 95% of the time I will be at home on Fridays and then usually a Wednesday. Otherwise I am an active person who walks most days and would love a pal for my walks on any weekday morning, evening or weekend. I have a green space outside the front of my house, it is sadly not fenced but I live less than 5 minutes from Finsbury Park to walk to for some exercise. My house is 3 stories with the living area and kitchen on the bottom floor and I live with 2 friends in a dog friendly community.

Katie has been amazing! We're so happy we chose her to take care of Bamba and Jelly! She sent us daily updates, always with pictures and made us feel so relaxed and reassured. They both looked so happy and relaxed. Her messages made us see that she really got to know Bamba and Jelly. She identidied by herslf what each of them like to play with and who likes to do long walks and who likes to stay and bath in the sun :) We highly recommend her and will definetily bring them to Katie again on our next vacation!

Bita took great care of our 7-month-old puppy, Alfie, for 6 nights whilst we were on holiday. She always kept us up to date with photos and followed the routine we had for him. He settled into their home easily, and the gated gardens where he went for walks looked very safe and pretty. He also had access to the balcony of Bita's flat, which was great. Bita also gave us thorough feedback on his behaviour and his time at the end of the booking.

Grace is an absolutely fantastic dog boarder, and we couldn't recommend her more highly. She took wonderful care of Henry, keeping us updated throughout his stay with regular photos and messages, which gave us complete peace of mind. It was obvious from every update that he was happy, relaxed and genuinely cared for. Our family dog, Teddy, has also stayed with Grace and had exactly the same experience. She treats every dog as if they're her own. Grace is warm, caring, reliable and incredibly communicative. Knowing Henry and Teddy were in such capable hands meant we could completely relax while we were away. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for someone who will care for their dog and will definitely use her again.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Greater London may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
