“Sophie and Guy were very caring with our cocker spaniel when he stayed with them for a week! We could tell he was very happy and relaxed, and they took him for lots of walks with the ball! They also sent lots of updates and pictures which was great. We’d happily book in a stay again. Thank you both!”

“We were very happy with the way Ruby was looked after. Florent kept us updated with pics and reports and we could see how much love Ruby was getting. She had lots of walks and fun and has come happy, calm and relaxed. Communication with Florent is easy and he is very quick to respond. Highly recommrnd”

“Jessica was the perfect sitter for George, our labrador. She was confident and calm, which George needed! George loved his time with Jessica and I will definitely be booking her again (if she lets me!). She catered to Georges needs amazingly and I felt she just 'got' George and his quirks. 100% recommend her! Amazing amazing! Thank you so much Jessica! Hope to see you around Bath soon! x”

“This was my first time leaving Prince with a pet sitter, so I was a little nervous, but Fernanda was really friendly and throughout the stay Fernanda was sending me updates of Prince. Prince was really happy and comfortable with Fernanda. Seeing that made me really comfortable too and stress free when I was away. There would have been no one else better than Fernanda for Prince and I would highly recommend her. If I have to I would book her again for Prince.”

“Again there are not enough words to say how grateful and pleased I am with the way Jon took care of our lad. The second time we have used Jon to take care of Diesel and in all honesty when I got him home I think he really missed being with them. Treated as their own which then gives you peace of mind to enjoy your holiday. It’s a shame Jon isn’t available for some other dates we have as I wouldn’t hesitate in leaving Diesel in his capable hands. I can go on and on about Jon and the professional way in which he done everything. Thank you Jon from Diesel and the family”

“Simply outstanding extremely friendly family extremely kind to Gucci and kept us updated all the time . Gucci was so happy during his stay . He loved playing with the children”

“Jonathan and his partner were INCREDIBLE dog sitters. Our pup had an amazing time with them, they kept him very active and sent regular updates while we were away. We felt very comfortable with him in their care and will book again!”

About: I'm passionate about dogs of all kinds and have been involved with dogs (& cats) one way or another my whole life. I grew up with dogs and learned first-hand the real-life care they need and deserve. Recently I've been involved in rescuing, fostering and dog-sitting in my home for my local community and have enjoyed it so much I decided creating a profile on Rover would be an excellent idea. But even in my 20's I used to dog-sit in clients' homes regularly, sometimes for up to a month at a time. I'm also a volunteer for the Advanced Dog Ownership Initiative, a new scheme developed by my dog professional colleagues, to help encourage and support responsible dog ownership, which has helped me improve my own understanding dog interaction and ownership. I've also previously worked as a volunteer for a London-based animal rescue which has contributed to my passion for animal welfare. I'm able to adapt to each dogs personality, size and breed, having looked after everything from big unneutered, untrained Huskies & Bouviers, all the way down to active Jack Russels and Scottish Terriers. I take into account each dogs sensitivities, for example, some dogs do not like contact with other dogs while out on a walk, and some need a good 2 hours out in the park, whereas some only need 2 shorter walks a day. Some dogs need stimulation during the day and others just need a good chunk of downtime to decompress. Each dog is different and I accommodate their needs accordingly. The only reason my partner and I do not currently have a dog is that we would prefer to improve our finances before making the commitment to bringing home a dog. My experience in fostering and owning dogs in the past has helped me understand fully what an important decision it is. So helping others care for their beloved hounds is the next best thing! I am a freelance creative who largely works from home, and only rarely has to work on-site. If that is unavoidable, my partner who is also experienced with dogs will be able to be home. However, if I know I'll be caring for a dog at the time I'll prefer to be home for the entire period, and I will try to arrange it that way. In the mornings, I think it's important to immediately let the dog out into the garden. I also think a walk first thing in the morning is ideal for most breeds as the nights can feel long for dogs. I'd follow their usual feeding routine but if they are fed in the morning I'd do that before the walk as usually they like to do their business after a meal! I can walk a dog up to 1,5 hours to 2 hours at a time if they require it. During the day I keep an eye on them and provide a space they can have to themselves to decompress. If they need a bit of stimulation, I can engage in a few games with them in the garden. My partner and I are "home bodies" so I'm usually home for the whole day except for a short outing to the local shop, and in most cases my partner will also be at home working. A late afternoon/early evening walk is also possible if they need it, sometimes this can be a short walk around a couple of blocks in the neighbourhood or further afield depending on the dog. Evenings are usually very quiet and relaxing but the dog is let out into the garden multiple times before securing the house and heading to bed. The dog is welcome to sleep in our bedroom on their bed if that is needed or in our living room. And finally, if the dog enjoys affection and human interaction then I have cuddles available by the truckload! I think it's important to follow a routine that feels healthy, comfortable and safe for the dog. Understanding their needs for diet, sleep, interaction and walking is important. In hot weather I would be sure to walk a dog outside of the hottest times of the day especially for dogs with thick coats. I carry a water bottle with me on walks at all times to ensure the dog is properly hyrdated. Before walking your dog for the first time, I'll check with you if they are comfortable around other dogs and people, or if they prefer not to interact at all. Some dogs are nervous of other dogs, and senior dogs often prefer to be left alone, especially by younger dogs. I'm careful to avoid any interaction that may not be comfortable. Giving a dog plenty of time to stretch their legs and also take in the scents and sounds is important and often the best way to keep them relaxed and content for the whole day ahead. Our home has a fenced garden, no other pets and no children so it provides a relaxing environment for any dog. I'd dedicate a space to put their bed which can be theirs for the duration to sleep and decompress.
“We are delighted with the services, provided by Lucy. Our lab puppy, Lilly, had a great time at Lucy's house. Lucy kept us updated with pics and videos throughout and we are definitely going to contact her again next time. It was Lilly's first time staying somewhere out of our house and it couldn't have gone better. I highly recommend Lucy.”

“Here’s a review you could use: Louisa was amazing! She looked after my 8-year-old French bulldog overnight, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. She was so kind and attentive, making sure my pup was comfortable and happy the entire time. I could tell she genuinely loves animals and treated him like her own. She kept me updated with messages and photos, which really put my mind at ease. When I came back, my dog was relaxed and well-cared for. I highly recommend Louisa to anyone looking for a reliable and loving pet sitter!”

“Gudny took a great care of Dosey over the weekend. She sent lots of photos and feedback. Dosey came back very content. I will definitely leave Dosey under Gudny’s care again. Thank you Gudny !”

“We had a great experience with Shyla. She is so energetic and spreads her positivity around. She was so caring, attentive, and very loving. Our dog was well looked after (she even cooked the food and fed him), and we really appreciated the communication and updates. It meant so much knowing our dog was in such safe and loving hands. We would absolutely use them again and recommend them without hesitation.”

“Tun is amazing. Communication with him has always been easy and smooth. He is so professional, we didn’t have to worry about anything when he was taking care of our dog. He is, of course, a dog lover, and somehow more importantly, he knows so well how to interact with dogs. Not only was our dog taken good care of during his stay with Tun, but Tun also always managed to keep him calm and stable as much as possible. That kind of experience is so, so precious for dogs yet to be mature or still under training. Overall, fascinating experience (for us and for our dog, who unfortunately couldn’t write his own review) and would definitely recommend.”

“I can’t recommend Kataryna enough. She looked after my Cavapoo Lucy and she had the best time whilst we were away. We got lots of pictures and Kataryna was very professional and communicative throughout the stay. 10/10!”

“Jane was a fabulous pet sitter for our little puppy over the holiday! She sent photos of his adventures daily, and he came home happy and healthy. Will definitely contact her again the next time we need someone to care for PeeWee. :)”

“Exceptional Dog Sitting Experience! Our experience with Saransh was truly exceptional. He provided daily updates with photos and videos, maintained excellent communication, ensured regular exercise and playtime for Ram. We highly recommend Saransh for boarding dog sitting services. He exceeded our expectations, and Ram can't wait to see them again!”

“Jazz is always so happy to be with Diana and family and always is healthy and happy when I pick him up. This is because of how well Diana takes care of him. I can see he views Diana’s family as an alternative additional one for himself! Thank you Diana 😍🙏🏾”

We had such a wonderful experience with Pei looking after our dog, Hugo. From the very beginning, Pei was incredibly kind, attentive, and thoughtful. They kept us updated throughout Hugo's stay with regular photos, videos, and messages, which gave us so much peace of mind. What really stood out was how observant they were—they paid close attention to Hugo's behaviour, how he was adjusting, and even the smallest changes, keeping us informed whenever something new came up. It was clear that Hugo was genuinely cared for and treated with so much patience and affection. He came home calm, relaxed, and happy, which says everything about the care he received. We felt completely comfortable leaving Hugo with Pei and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. We're already looking forward to the next time. Thank you so much for taking such great care of him!

Louisa and Dan are wonderful and caring sitters. They took great care of my sweet Theo who is recovering from a broken leg. Their home is the perfect retreat for pups, comfortable in every way. They sent updates and photos of my boy which was so lovely while I was away. Theo can’t wait to stay with them again! :)

Sophie and her partner was amazing, they kept me updated and were very sensible with the hot weather. Cooper loved his time with them and I would definitely book again. I am going away in September and if they are available I will definitely book with them again. Thank you again

Natali was really good. Great communication, shared pictures daily of Balwaan and his activites. Balwaan also made a local friend, which was great to see the pictures of him playing. Our experience with Natali was really good. She is really kind, washed Balwaan for us and we could see our boy was very happy spending time with Natali and her home. Thank you. Amazing person and would highly recommend.
Tenny did an amazing job with Taco, she made her feel right at home and was so patient and cuddly with her. I loved all the picture and video updates a well, it really kept my mind at ease. I know Taco had an amazing time with Tenny and I wouldn’t hesitate to leave her in Tenny’s care again!

I couldn’t recommend Tatiana enough! Vic had such a lovely stay with Tatiana and her family. She had a great time enjoying the garden and was clearly very happy and well looked after. What really stood out to us was how Tatiana introduced Vic to the other dogs. Vic can be quite reactive and doesn’t always find it easy to be around other dogs, so we were a bit nervous at first. Tatiana took the time to do the introductions properly, and everything went so well. Vic spent a whole week happily with other dogs, which is something we’ve struggled with before, so we were absolutely delighted. Tatiana also sent us lots of photos and updates, which we really appreciated. It gave us real peace of mind while we were away and made it so much easier to enjoy our holiday knowing Vic was in such good hands. Thank you so much, Tatiana. We wouldn’t hesitate to leave Vic with you again!

I got in touch with Amanda for quite a last-minute booking for my husky, Casper. Everything went extremely smoothly. Amanda was very communicative and took great care of Casper. He came back very happy and I will certainly be booking Amanda's services again in the future. Thanks!

Latte spent a week with Tun and David while we were on holiday. We had a meet and greet about a month before the boarding, they took the time to understand Latte’s needs and behaviour before and during the stay, and shared plenty of photos and updates regularly. She got plenty of playtime and exercises during her stay - we are so happy to see her having an amazing time! I also appreciate Tun sharing observations of Latte’s behaviour and adapting his approach to ensure Latte’s well-being. I’d be more than happy to have Latte stay with them again in the future.

Puddles stayed with Anushka for the extended weekend, and I couldn't be happier with the care he received. We got plenty of photos and updates throughout his stay, which was really reassuring, and it was clear from the pictures that he was having a wonderful time. The weather was exceptionally hot during those days, so I was especially grateful to know that he was being so well looked after and kept safe and comfortable. He came home happy, relaxed, and settled straight back in.

Delene helped look after Momo for a few days after a last minute request. From the start she replied very quickly to my messages and came to meet Momo before the boarding which gave me a lot of peace of mind. Momo had a great time with her and I’m sure he’d love to stay with her again.

Having never left Bubba with a sitter before, I was quite nervous about finding the right person for him, especially as I’m constantly told he’s a bit needy and can be a handful! After meeting a couple of potential sitters, I immediately felt at ease with Meropi. She sent daily updates and photos, took him out on adventures, and just fitted him into her everyday life while still maintaining his usual routine. From the photos and updates, it was clear he was having the best time. He stayed for 5 nights and by the end of it he looked completely smitten with both Meropi and her partner! I couldn’t have asked for a better first experience and wouldn’t hesitate to leave Bubba with her again. Highly recommend ☺️

Krishma and family looked after my dog like she was their own. Krishma is warm and caring. She immediately connected with Stella and knew exactly what to do to calm and soothe my dog. I received lovely updates and photos of Stella, so I was really comfortable and confident she was being well looked after. I would definitely recommend Krishma to look after your dog (or cats). I will be coming back.

Absolutely amazing experience! My dogs had such a lovely time and were so well looked after. They were even ready to go back in with her when she came to drop them off, which says everything! Her home is clean, she is so patient, kind, and genuinely caring. They even came home with a certificate of stay, which was such a lovely touch and something we’ve never had before. I’m so pleased we found her and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Greater London may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
