Could not fault Sally and her partner at all. They looked after my Labrador for 5 nights and they kept me updated, send me pictures and were sure quick with responses. I can tell Hector had the best time and was looked after with so much care and also lots and lots of love! Will definitely be rebooking with Sally and could not recommend her enough!

Our Toy Poodle Ralphie had an amazing week. He was treated to some lovely walked, baths, and lots of love by the looks of the many pictures and videos provided. The fact he got to play with Milo (toy poodle also) was just lovely and they looked like they got on amazingly. A lovely house and safe environment for the dogs was also perfect. Thanks guys so much for looking after Ralphie and we’ll definitely use you again. Rudi and Nelly x

Our Springer had a wonderful weekend with Chloe. He came home very relaxed and happy. She really looked after him with great walks, good company and he enjoyed being with her and her family. They treated him like one of the family. Chloe is very honest, her house is lovely, clean and tidy and she has a garden. Highly recommend.

She sent us pictures and updates every evening and honestly, I was worried Bruce will not want to go back home with us😂 He had the best time and is now bestie with Nadja’s spaniel Rolo🥲 He’ll be staying with them again in couple of weeks and i’m sure that will not be the last time!! Thank you so much Nadja🥰🙏🏻

Karen and Mark are just brilliant with our dog. Really kind caring people. They took great care of our old pooch who likes a snuggle. I felt very confident that our old boy was being well cared for - Karen sends photos and updates which really put my mind at rest. Thank you Karen and Mark.

I can't recommend Lisa enough! From the moment I met her, I felt completely confident that Tank would be in great hands. Lisa is kind, professional, and truly passionate about animals. She kept me updated with adorable photos and messages throughout our time away, which gave me such peace of mind. Tank clearly adored her, and it was evident that she took the time to bond with him and was very sympathetic to his injury, issuing medication when required. I came home to a happy, well-cared-for dog, and I’ll absolutely be booking Lisa again in the future. If you’re looking for someone who genuinely cares for your pet, Lisa is the one! 5 stars without a doubt! Thank you!! X

Andrew has been excellent from start to finish. I contacted him with a last minute booking for my 10 year old Staffy and he was very accommodating. I have never had to leave my dog with a sitter before so was apprehensive, but as soon as I arrived and met Andrew and his parents my mind was put to rest. Lovely people, with a lovely home. Andrew had a very calming demeanour and I knew my dog was in safe hands. He provided photo updates and answered any questions I had, and most importantly Presley come back as happy and daft as ever. I was able to enjoy my trip away knowing my dog was safe and well looked after. Couldn’t recommend highly enough! 10/10, thank you 🙏🏼

It is very difficult to quantify how incredible and sweet Andreia and her beautiful family are. I could talk about how wonderful she was with our “less than easy” Spaniel, but there are so many other aspects of Andreia that makes her quite special. We had numerous complications with our holiday plans including a very last minute postponement as a result of American bombing in the Middle East. Andreia took it all in her stride. In summary, I would dare to suggest that if you are lucky enough to have Andreia take care of your dog, you can count yourself lucky.

About: I’ve had dogs since I was 10, two Hungarian vizlas and my family has two very sassy sausages! have looked after older dogs, and also younger, I looked after two puppy pointers for two weeks so I understand the challenges that come with puppies. I’m a photographer and therefore love to take my camera out to get some great shots of the dogs in action! I work part time so have plenty of free weekdays, mornings work best. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are completely free days, and the occasional weekend are free. I live in a very secure house in elsenham with a fenced garden, being in Elsenham means there’s lots of lovely dog walking areas as well which I love. I work remotely Monday to Wednesday and have Thursday and Friday off so am quite flexible! I sometimes head to Devon so would need at least a couple of days notice if dog care needed. I have a fenced garden so your dog will be safe at all times. I work downstairs so your dog will have company at all times as well :)

About: I’m a huge animal lover and currently own a very friendly 6-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel as well as two rabbits, so I understand how important it is to find someone trustworthy and caring to look after your pets. I have previous experience dog, cat and rabbit sitting for family and friends and always treat every animal as if they were my own. I’ve always had a deep compassion for animals, and their wellbeing is always my top priority. My dog is extremely gentle and friendly with both dogs and rabbits, and I’m comfortable caring for pets with different personalities and needs. I also understand how reassuring updates are for owners, so I always send plenty of photos and messages while you’re away. I’m currently studying Digital Marketing at university, which has helped me become organised, reliable and communicative. I’d love the opportunity to care for your pets and make them feel safe, loved and happy while you’re away 🐾 I currently work part-time alongside studying Digital Marketing at university, which gives me a flexible schedule and plenty of time to care for pets. If I’m not home, my partner usually is, so pets are rarely left alone for long periods. I’m available for walks, drop-ins and pet sitting throughout the week and weekends, and I always make sure pets get plenty of attention, care and exercise. I have a very friendly 6-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who gets along well with both dogs and rabbits. For safety and comfort, I only accept dogs that are friendly with other dogs. My own rabbits live outside in their own large secure fenced area, completely separate from visiting pets. If I care for rabbits in my home, they will always stay safely indoors. My dog is very gentle with rabbits, but if a rabbit is nervous or prefers space, I’m able to keep them fully separated to make sure they feel safe and comfortable at all times. Dogs in my care will receive at least two walks a day, lots of attention, playtime and regular photo updates for owners while they’re away 🐾

About: I’ve looked after dogs my entire life, I’ve always taken on a large part of the responsibility with my dogs including walking, feeding, grooming, and training them. I have a lot of availability throughout the week (including weekends). I would love to be able to help out some busy pet owners in my spare time by doing something I’ve always enjoyed. I’d like to look after the pet in the same manor as their owner does and make sure they’re well cared for, always have fresh water, and are let out regularly.

About: I’ve had 4 dogs and 2 cats in my lifetime as pets and I have volunteered at a rescue center and pet sat for neighbors and friends for over a decade. I have experience with timid and shy animals, helping them find their comfort and confidence. I am nurturing and have a flexible work schedule that allows me to work from home the majority of the week. I’m currently working a 9-5 job that is mostly from home. I stop in on the morning visits around 7-8am to give breakfast, then again for a midday check in or walk on my lunch break. I then go around when I’m off work, by 6 or 7 pm to serve dinner and a nightly walk or play session. This is my standard routine, but is tailored for each client during the meet and greet. I have a fenced in garden that is huge and clear for your pet to run around and play. My child is very used to cats and dogs, as she has visited with my mums dogs and is used to having pets we take care of come around. We have places in the house for your pets dog bed or crate, so they have their own space, but are happy for them to be on the furniture as well.

George was an absolute pleasure to deal with and I would highly recommend boarding at his home. He was super responsive and very accommodating and mindful of Indy's requirements as a 12 year old greyhound. We did an intro with George's dog Daisy prior to Indy's stay, to make sure they got on and well, they had a blast - Daisy is a delightful and very happy pooch. George sent through regular updates and some lovely photos that were taken on a visit to a pumpkin patch. Indy was very much treated as part of the family and clearly had a wonderful time. I will be booking another stay soon!

A wonderful stay again at George's Hotel and Spa! Indy was a bit out of sorts with the thunderstorms and George took it all in his stride and managed to settle her in no time. She really has found a second home, and George is now very much my go to sitter! Thank you again :-)

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
