About: Caring House Sitter with a Heart for Animals | Welwyn GC · Hatfield · St Albans, Hertford, Hatfield With three years of experience as a devoted pet caregiver, I genuinely understand the importance of providing loving and respectful care for your furry family members. My approach emphasises creating healthy boundaries while ensuring plenty of fun and companionship. I deeply respect not only your space but also the unique personalities of dogs and cats, treating them with the kindness they deserve. As a true animal lover, I'm committed to ensuring that every pet feels safe, happy, and cherished in my care. Mon–Fri: 7–9am · 12–2pm · 5–8pm (walks & drop-ins) Weekends: Flexible daytimes + overnight house sitting Cats: AM/PM routine is ideal (feed, litter, meds, quiet company) Dogs: Solo walks matched to age/energy; enrichment on rainy days I keep my calendar up to date and respond promptly; all bookings include photo updates. How I care for pets (and your home) Your pet’s routine is my script. I follow your instructions exactly, feeding, meds, walk times, play, and quiet time, so cats and dogs feel safe and settled while you’re away. I’m gentle, tidy, and keep communication clear with notes and photo updates every visit. In your home (house sitting & drop-ins) Security first: I double-check doors, gates, windows and keep leads by the door. No visitors, no parties—ever. I respect your privacy and only use agreed areas. Calm, consistent routine: I match your pet’s normal schedule and preferred style (shy cats get quiet company; playful pets get enrichment). Hygiene: Fresh water every visit, bowls washed, surfaces wiped. Litter scooped/reset each visit; waste disposed of properly. Medication: Comfortable with oral/topical meds when clearly explained; I log each dose in your Rover thread. Home care: Lights/blinds as instructed, plants/bins/mail handled, everything left clean and secure. Dog walks (solo only) Lead policy: I use a secure harness/collar you provide and a fixed lead. No off-lead unless you’ve given written OK and the area is safe and enclosed. Safe routes: I avoid hazards, busy roads at rush times, and stressful dog clusters; I adjust for heat, cold, or rain and bring water on longer walks. Accountability: You’ll receive Rover Cards with timing, route, and a short summary. Cat care specifics Doors and windows stay closed; I check common hide spots so indoor cats don’t slip out. I refresh water, litter, and feeding stations, then match their vibe—quiet company, play, or brushing if allowed. Multi-cat homes are fed separately as needed. Emergencies & consent I keep your vet and emergency contact details on hand. If anything seems off, I contact you immediately, follow your instructions, and, if urgent, seek vet care while keeping you updated. Trust & communication I reply quickly, keep my calendar accurate, and send clear updates (photos + what we did). My goal is simple: a safe, calm environment where your pet’s day feels normal—and you feel fully informed.
“Heidi and Phil were very approachable. My dog Pippa was well looked after. She was taken for nice long walks and came home tired and happy. I hope this is the start of a long relationship.”

“Bobby had a great stay with Jane. It was his first time there but he settled in straight away! Bobby was well looked after, so much so he barely noticed me when I went to collect him, he was too busy playing with Jane's lovely mum in the garden! I wouldn't hesitate to use Jane again, she clearly loves dogs very much and Bobby came home happy and very chilled.”

About: I may not have professional experience as a sitter, but I’ve spent over 15 years caring for my own pets, rescue animals, and pets of friends and family. All of my animals have been rescues—found, saved, and given loving homes. I currently live with two cats, one stray who visits daily, and my sweet 8-year-old dog. I have a deep compassion for animals and a calm, gentle approach that helps pets feel safe and cared for. I understand their body language, respect their space, and treat each one as if they were my own. I work from home and run my own small business, which gives me a flexible schedule and plenty of time to care for pets throughout the day. Since I’m usually at home, I can provide regular attention, playtime, walks, and a calm presence—perfect for pets who need company or a consistent routine. Pet care is already a natural part of my daily life, so it fits in easily with everything I do. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. At my home, we have a fully fenced, spacious garden for safe outdoor time, as well as plenty of cozy cat and dog beds, toys, and quiet spots for rest. I use GPS trackers during walks for added peace of mind, and I have a cat door for easy, secure access in and out. I’m also happy to share updates and photos, and I can use a pet camera if requested. Whether your pet stays with me or I visit your home, you can trust they’ll be cared for with love, attention, and a calm, safe environment.

“Sarah looked Rocco for his first daycare day,Rocco is a nervous/anxious dog when first meeting anyone and Sarah coped very well and within a few hours we were sent pictures of him sitting on her lap and settled which was very reassuring. When I picked him up he was happy and had bonded with Sarah which is great to see. Thanks Sarah for a great day and we’ve already booked for a future service.”

“Melanie had laid out plenty of toys for our Frenchie before even arriving! She was great to communicate with, clearly loves dogs and took really good care of him. We loved all pictures and videos of him. Highly recommend and will be using again!”

“Leanne is an amazing sitter. Our puppy (Toastie) is always so excited to go to Leanne's house for day care and is always exhausted when she comes home! About: Hi, I’m Julia — a reliable and caring pet sitter with lifelong experience around animals. I provide dog walking, pet sitting, feeding, playtime, and general care to keep your pets happy, safe, and relaxed while you’re away. I’ve grown up with dogs and cared for many animals including German Shepherds, Jack Russells, Miniature Pinschers, cats, parrots, fish, and hamsters. I’m comfortable with pets of all sizes and energy levels and can also give medication when needed. At home I currently have two friendly miniature Schnauzers and a cat, so I understand how important it is to trust someone with your pets. I always follow owners’ routines and instructions carefully. I live in a three-bedroom house with a secure fenced garden. If pets stay with me, I can separate animals when needed to make everyone comfortable and safe. I am also happy to care for pets in their own home, which many animals prefer. I’m currently a university student, so I have flexible availability on weekdays and most weekends, allowing me to give pets plenty of attention and care. I am currently a university student, so my schedule is flexible and allows me to give pets plenty of attention throughout the day. I am available on weekdays and most weekends for walks, drop-in visits, and overnight stays. Your pet will not be left alone for long periods, and I can adjust my routine to match their normal schedule as closely as possible. A typical day includes regular walks, playtime, feeding, and lots of attention and care. I like to keep pets active and mentally stimulated with walks in local parks, play sessions, and games suited to their energy level. I can also reinforce basic commands or routines using positive encouragement. Quiet time and cuddles are just as important, so I make sure pets feel comfortable and relaxed while keeping to their normal routine as much as possible.

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Amazing Dog Sitter! Sebastian was incredible with our dog, Bailey! From the very first meet & Greet, it was clear how caring and attentive he is with her. He took the time to learn about Baileys routine, preferences, and weird quirks, and kept me updated with stunning photos and messages throughout the day. I would fetch a very happy and tired pup at the end of day — it’s obvious Sebastian treated Bailey like his own. It definitely gave me such peace of mind knowing our furry family member was in such capable, loving hands. And a massive shout out to Bao! Baileys new friend 😊 Bao welcomed Bailey with open paws into her home. Bailey has been having such a blast ! Highly recommend Sebastian and Bao 😊 Dream Team!”

Ziggy and Bella had the best time spending the day with Tanirika and her flatmates. They seemed to settle really well and seemed very happy. Tanirika sent lots of photos and videos and kept us updated throughout the day which not all dog sitters do! Would definitely book again and I’m sure Ziggy and Bella would love to come back :)

We were so pleased with Amanda looking after our dog. Unfortunately he can get unsettled in unfamiliar places. We met Amanda first and after a few minutes we knew Troy would be in safe hands. We got regular updates on how he was doing. I think Troy was a little upset to leave. We would definitely book again with Amanda she was great and definitely had lots of experience looking after dogs.

I can't fault Arjoo at all! She kept me updated the whole time and was patient with Falkor. He settled with her, and when I arrived he didn't run to me instantly which showed he already got attached to her. I'm very confident in booking again and even trying a night stay!

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust collection and drop-off times when needed.
Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:
- Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
- Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
- Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible
Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s booking protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
