“Genie seemed very happy with Edward and Natalie. They were very friendly and knowledgeable about dogs, accommodating her quirky ways, including tummy rubs and reluctant walking. We'd be happy to use them in the future.”

About: Hello fellow dog owners, I am NEW on Rover! I bring a genuine passion for animals and their well-being to every visit. Beyond the basics, I’ve got experience in puppy training helping the bundle of joy learn good habits. I’m also comfortable with caring for senior dogs who may have unique needs and require a more gentle approach. You can relax knowing your beloved pet is in capable and caring hands, no matter their age! I am a co owner of a Yorkshire terrier, aged 8, who I dog sit occasionally (since moving out of my mum’s house!). This means I can cater for just your dog, if they are not comfortable around other dogs. I’m currently working on a flexible schedule during the week and free on weekends. Happy to accommodate evenings, or overnight. I value good communication and will give sufficient notice should any plans change. Being a co-owner to a much-loved, playful Yorkshire terrier, I understand the importance of excellent care. I offer a convenient service where I travel to you to look after your furry family member(s) in the comfort of their own home. Equally, they are more than welcome to stay with me in my maisonette. Plus, I have my own car for prompt transportation in case of an emergency.
“Otis had such a lovely time with Sacha. We were kept updated with pictures and messages throughout the day so we knew Otis was enjoying himself! Highly recommend and will book in again 😊”

“Murphy loved his time at Charlotte's and she really put my mind at ease with lots of pictures and messages :). He's a very excitable 4 month old pup so it's lovely to know hes having a nice time! will definitely be leaving our pup with him again”

“Raku's second visit to Melinda's house and it went great. They took such good care of her playing fetch and letting her really relax and settle in. Lovely people and great communication!”

“Agne was super lovely and Feddy had a great time with her. I could tell he really warmed up to her and was very relaxed. She has a beautiful dog Pablo who is absolutely the cutest, and he and Feddy got on so well. She kept me updated throughout and I felt completely at ease knowing he was in good hands. Highly recommend!”

About: After pet sitting throughout my studies, I have missed my cuddly companions. Now that I have moved to Boxmoor and am working from home, I can look after your pets like they are my own. I look after a variety of animals, just reach out to chat 😊 I am working from home in Boxmoor so am able to have your pets stay in my home with me during the week, or I can come to work from your space if you'd prefer. I take 1 hour for a lunch break each day so can also do drop-in visits and walks. I am usually busy on weekends, but you can message me to check availability. I live in a pet-free, child-free and smoke-free home. I have a two bedroom house and a garden. I live in a quiet neighborhood with neighbours who also love pets, and lots of parks around us.
“We couldn’t be happier with Megan! She’s incredibly friendly, down‑to‑earth, and clearly loves dogs. Our little dog, Buckley, settled with her straight away and we got lovely updates while we were out. We’d happily book her again - she’s fantastic!”

“Ross was truly amazing — I booked super last minute, and he responded so quickly and kindly, which made the whole thing so easy and stress-free. He kept me updated throughout the day, which really helped me relax and feel confident that Feddy was in great hands. They went for a long walk, and when I got Feddy back, he was happy, calm, and clearly very well looked after. Ross has such a gentle, caring energy — you can tell he genuinely enjoys being around dogs. I’m so grateful to have found him and will definitely be booking again. Highly recommend!”

About: Hi! I'm Rachel, and I’m a dog walker and dog/cat sitter in central Berkhamsted. I’m very responsible, thoughtful, playful and loving with all animals and I've been called Miss Doolittle (the Dr Doolittle reference not as it sounds!). I've owned a very playful labradoodle and active bengal cats for many years, dogwalked and cared for two very active terriers, a collie, two large labrador and golden retrievers, a chihuahua, a nervous rescue cross breed and dogwalked a wide variety of breeds for a dog rescue centre for several years. I'm experienced with young to elderly, anxious, deaf dogs and cats, and administering medication if needed. If you’re looking for an occasional or regular dog walker, animal sitter or holiday sitter I’m looking for clients around Berkhamsted and the nearby areas right now while studying to make a big career change from office work. I offer solo care or take out small groups for walks along the canal, to the nearby parks and Ashridge, also offer more active dogwalking, balltime and playtime. I know the area very well around here after living here for over 10 years and being very 'outdoorsy'! :) All breeds and ages welcome ❤❤❤ Your pets will be well looked after! I hope to meet you and your much loved pet(s) very soon! Best, Rachel I'm studying to be a health coach and make a career change while animal sitting and will balance this across the week. Mondays to Fridays are preferable for me but I can potentially offer Sundays as well. I'm especially interested in longer, holiday sits too. I'll take the lead from you on what's needed for your pet(s) and any special requirements or needs. I'm very responsible and in tune with animal body language and needs so they'll be well looked after, exercise, food, water and bathroom visits wise!
“Greg thoroughly enjoyed his stay. We had plenty of updates and photos throughout the day and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a reliable, trustworthy person to walk or care for their dog. Thank you!!”

About: I’ve been the proud owner of my pup, Gryff, since 2018. Over the years, I’ve cared for a wide variety of breeds and sizes for friends and family (you can see some of my favourites in Gryff’s profile). I’m a firm believer in including dogs in my daily adventures. I love taking Gryff on long walks and runs, but I also enjoy bringing him along to dog-friendly pubs and cafes (basically anywhere they’ll allow a four-legged friend). While I don’t have formal certifications, life with Gryff has given me a broad education. He’s taught me how to handle every canine mood: from his bouncy days where he seems to have springs in his legs, to his quiet afternoons cosying on the sofa, and even those moments when he just needs a little extra love and attention. I’m patient, adaptable, and ready to give your dog the care they need. I’m currently home from university for the Easter holidays, enjoying the return to the countryside while I work on my dissertation. As I’m studying from home, my schedule is very flexible! I will usually be available Monday to Friday through to April 10th, when I return to university. While I’ll be heading back to uni briefly to wrap up this year of study, I’m eager to return to pet sitting as my primary part-time work once I return in mid-May. If you’re looking for someone reliable for the Easter break or for dog sitting when I return from university, I’d love to hear from you! Your dog’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I have a large, fully fenced garden with secure side gates (no gaps at the bottom and code lock installed), so you can rest assured there’s no way for an adventurous pup to slip out to the front. I live with my parents, brother, and our friendly Cockapoo, Gryff, who is always eager to make new friends and loves a good runaround in the garden. In our home, we don't use (or own) crates; Gryff usually sleeps comfortably in the kitchen/dining room. We stick to a consistent routine with meals served at breakfast and 5 pm, but I am more than happy to adjust to your dog’s specific feeding schedule. “Michelle and Mark are absolutely brilliant! They took such wonderful care of Boris, kept me updated with plenty of messages and photos, and made sure he felt safe, comfortable, and had a great time at their place. I couldn’t have asked for better people to look after 🩷”

“This is the 3rd time Stitch has spent in Tapiwa’s care. He always has such a lovely time as I get updates in the day and see him very happy in her home. I would recommend her to anyone for doggy daycare or boarding.”

“I was so nervous about leaving my large German shepherd with a stranger but when I pulled onto the drive for the second visit and he started squeaking with excitement and ran straight in, I knew Victoria was the right person for us. She has played and walked with him and even trained him to ‘wait’. I couldn’t feel happier about recommending Victoria”

“Artie had a lovely time being looked after by Sophie! We were sent very sweet photos through the day and Artie was definitely comfortable! We'd be more than happy to rebook again!”

Fiona was absolutely brilliant with Beau and he had a wonderful time. She kept me updated throughout the day with lots of lovely photos of him enjoying himself, which was really reassuring. Communication was excellent both before and during the booking, and it was clear that Beau was happy, comfortable and very well cared for. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Fiona and would be delighted for Beau to stay with her again. Thank you, Fiona! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Agne was super lovely and Feddy had a great time with her. I could tell he really warmed up to her and was very relaxed. She has a beautiful dog Pablo who is absolutely the cutest, and he and Feddy got on so well. She kept me updated throughout and I felt completely at ease knowing he was in good hands. Jack has spent his second day with Natalie today. He very happily went into the house on arrival and from the lovely photos Natalie sent he has had a happy day. We are delighted he is settling down so well and are going to try an overnight stay next time. Thank you Natalie and Edward.

Lauren-Melissa was absolutely amazing! I would recommend her to anyone. Such a nice person and my little Charlie clearly had a very good time. He also met a new corgi friend! She also sent me photos to show what a good time Charlie was having, which I appreciated. If you want someone to be a dog carer, you will not find a better person!

Alex was great with looking after Rufus for us. Communication was fantastic throughout the booking and daycare. Alex was really accommodating and was happy to have a meet and greet with Rufus beforehand so he could get to know her. Would be more than happy leaving Rufus with Alex again!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later collection to match your Dacorum commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust collection and drop-off times when needed.
Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:
- Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
- Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
- Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible
Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s booking protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
