“Zhane was great, very responsive communication leading up to the date. Our labs aren’t the easiest as they have a big gap in ages and the younger one is very boisterous. Zhane got to know them both and handled them brilliantly, they were sad to see her leave! I totally recommend Zhane.”

“Becca is a true star sitter! She makes you feel like your dog is truly being looked after. She took Chaves to meet her own dogs, and he had an amazing time. When I got home, he was completely fine and relaxed. Chaves can be a bit noisy sometimes, but Becca handled it really well. Highly recommend her!🩵”

“Ellen is a wonderful sitter — Chaves has stayed with her more than once and she's coming back again this week, which speaks for itself. She did a meet and greet first, asked all the right questions, and kept me updated the whole time. Easygoing, caring, and reliable. Chaves and I are lucky to have found her!☺️🐶”

“Milo took to Cora straight away and he's always so happy to see her! We feel very fortunate to have found someone so caring and dedicated to look after our dog when we are away. Cora really took the time to understand Milo and his routine so we knew we were leaving him in good hands. The regular updates were so lovely to see and our house was very well looked after too. Thank you Cora!”

“Katarina went out of her way to make sure that I was comfortable with leaving Maverick in her care as this was the first time I had used Rover. We had our initial meeting face to face and Katarina very kindly came to my house which also gave her a chance to see Maverick (a 1 year old golden retriever). A dog can sense a lot about people and Maverick was instantly connected with Katarina with no fear and showed his excitement by giving her lots of attention. We discussed Maverick’s requirements and it gave me an opportunity to get know Katarina to see how she would handle my dog, (apologies if it felt like an interview!). We went on a trial walk where Katarina led and I accompanied and that provided me with enough comfort to proceed with the booking. Katarina came to my house to look after Maverick for the day and they had the best time exploring the surrounding areas. Katarina kept me updated with messages and photos and it meant that I could focus on where I was which was celebrating my niece’s birthday in London. Furthermore Katarina was very accommodating as I was delayed coming home and she continued to look after Maverick for me. Katarina showed a lot of love and attention and ensured Maverick was cared for in the way that I wanted him to be. I will definitely be looking to book Katrina again! Thank you from Maverick and I! ?Xx”

“Jess is a wonderful sitter... She's lovely and friendly, taking time to find out all about Millie and kept me updated with lots of pictures and messages while I was away, enabling me to totally relax, knowing Millie was very happy and well looked after. She was also very respectful in my home. I would definitely recommend booking her.”

About: I am currently a vet student and my whole world revolves around animals. I have done dog sitting and walking for 5 years now and love it! I am passionate to provide the most loving care for all animals with constant play and cuddles. Due to being a vet student I am in class every week day but I am very happy to spend my time in the evenings and weekends looking after your pets as well as during breaks and holidays. I have done housesitting various times, sometimes for a day and other times up to a week. I always like to meet owners and pets at least once before coming to stay in the house and make sure we’re a good match. It’s important that the animal gets to know me and trusts me before I sit as well as answer any questions beforehand.

Yasmin and Salma look after our fluffy siberians during our honeymoon. Once again, after the 6/7th time of us reusing them, they were absolutely fantastic. We missed the cats dearly, however had no worries about their care throughout the 2.5 weeks we were away. It is so lovely to be able to go away and know your cats will be looked after with the same love and affection as if we were there. Yasmin and Salma have always been professional, friendly and have kept us up to date with multiple pictures a day and comments on what they are getting up to. We are so grateful to them. Thank you so much! We will use you again soon!

Joelly did an absolutely amazing job of looking after my shy and poorly cat, Bella. She managed a complex situation of having to give Bella a lot of different meals and medications, and managed to befriend Bella at the same time too! Very impressive! I came home to a relaxed and content cat and very tidy flat. Joelly is lovely, very friendly and warm, as well as competent and organised. Many thanks for everything Joelly.

Becca is a true star sitter! She makes you feel like your dog is truly being looked after. She took Chaves to meet her own dogs, and he had an amazing time. When I got home, he was completely fine and relaxed. Chaves can be a bit noisy sometimes, but Becca handled it really well. Highly recommend her!🩵

Sacha and Cristina were absolutely brilliant with our dog and cat, whilst we were away for the Christmas break. Our dog is reactive and has a number of needs (he’s usually nervous when left with sitters) BUT he absolutely loved having them come to stay in our home. We had constant updates, and our minds were at ease the whole trip. When we got back home, the home was spotless. We highly recommend both to be trusted to sit your furry members of your family. We can’t wait to use them again, I know the boys will miss them ⭐

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Dacorum walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Dacorum choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 88% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
