“Sena was honestly incredible! My needy little cat couldn't have been in better hands. Not only was Sena wonderful with him, but she also spent plenty of quality time with him. I trust her completely with our cat and wouldn't hesitate to book her again. Highly recommend!”

“Debra has been absolutely wonderful with my cat! Reliable, caring, and clearly a true animal lover. I came home to a happy, relaxed kitty and regular updates while I was away made all the difference. Highly recommend!”

“Marian was excellent, we can highly recommend. Great feedback and communication, dog happy and well cared for, as was the house. He even watered the plants, very kind, would definitely book again. Thank you Marian”

“Kai is great: she was super quick to understand Ollie's needs and routine, and was communicative throughout the sitting sending photos and updates. We could tell Ollie was very happy to be in her company because he took to her immediately and was very happy when she arrived despite seeing her for the first time. Will see you soon! :)”

About: Hi, I'm Sarah! I've been surrounded by animals for as long as I can remember, having grown up with pets throughout my childhood, and I currently have a dog of my own. Caring for animals has always been a huge part of my life, so looking after dogs comes naturally to me. I absolutely adore dogs, and every dog that stays with me is treated as if they were my own. I understand that every dog has their own personality, routine and needs, so i provide plenty of love, patience, care and attention to ensure they feel safe, happy and comfortable while you're away. I believe dogs thrive when they're given both physical exercise and mental stimulation, so regular walks, playtime and enrichment are all part of the care i provide. Whether your dog enjoys long adventures, gentle strolls or simply lots of cuddles on the sofa. My goal is to make sure they enjoy themselves just as much as you enjoy your time away. As a pet owner myself, I know how important it is to find someone you can trust with your furry family member. You can have peace of mind knowing your dog will be cared for with kindness, integrity and genuine affection every step of the way. I'm currently on my summer break from working in a school, so for the next six weeks I have plenty of time to dedicate to caring for your dog. After the holidays, I'll continue to be available on weekends. Your dog's routine will always be my priority, with walks twice a day as standard, and three times a day if they enjoy extra exercise or need additional stimulation. I understand that every dog is different, so I'm happy to adapt to their usual routine and energy levels to ensure they feel comfortable, happy and well cared for. Your dog's safety, happiness and wellbeing are my top priorities. We have a secure, enclosed garden where dogs can safely play, explore and go to the toilet whenever they need. I also have plenty of toys and enjoy spending quality time playing games and providing mental stimulation to keep dogs happy and engaged. I have a crate available if your dog is crate trained or if you would prefer them to have their own quiet space. Every dog in my care will be treated like a member of the family, receiving lots of love, patience and attention in a safe, calm and caring home. I will always follow your instructions regarding feeding, medication, walks and routines so your dog feels as settled and comfortable as possible.
“Joe stepped in and really saved our holiday by agreeing to house sit Millie for us. We exchanged several messages and pictures whilst we were away which reassured us everything was ok. When we got home we found Millie was quite happy and had obviously been well looked after. Would definitely use Joe again - thank you so much Joe.”

“So thrilled to have met James! He took such amazing care of our puppy and his ‘brothers’ (2 guinea pigs and a leopard gecko)! All were happy, well-fed and a little bit spoiled for a week. Our house was cleaner than when we left it! We would love to have James come back on our next trip away. Highly recommend!”

“Isabella was absolutely fantastic, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or to ask her to come back. Luna is a timid cat and takes a while to get used to new people but Isabella won her over really quickly - not only that but Isabella was house-sitting through the heatwave and made sure Luna kept cool and safe throughout. This was the first time I have left Luna and was very reassured to know that Luna was in good hands. I'm so grateful - thanks Isabella!”

“Anusha and Pavan helped take care of our dogs Buddy and Bimba. They both have special requirements as they have elbow dysplasia and Buddy takes regularly medication and they both had their walks as requested and were never left alone more than 3 hours. Thank you again for your help durong a last minute family Emergency!”

“Jewel really helped me out last minute when another sitter didnt show up! Jewel communicated well, sent me pics and updates. Took Koda on a few adventures. very trustworthy and will definitely be using Jewel again for the future especially as Koda loved her!”

“We couldn’t recommend Rita highly enough! ❤️ She looked after our Springer Spaniel, Teddy, for 10 days, and from the very beginning she was absolutely wonderful. We received daily updates, photos and little glimpses of how Teddy was getting on, which gave us so much peace of mind. It was hard for us initially, as we had never left Teddy with someone we didn’t know before. But Rita quickly put us at ease, and it was clear how much love, care and attention she gave our Teddy boy. 🐾❤️ We honestly think Teddy is missing her now that she’s gone — he’s been a little sad since she left! 🥹 We’re so grateful we found Rita. We’ll definitely be keeping in touch, because we feel like we’ve not only found someone we completely trust with Teddy, but also a lovely new friend who shares the same love for our very special boy. ❤️ Thank you, Rita, for taking such amazing care of Teddy. We couldn’t have asked for anyone better! 🐶💕”

About: I have lifelong experience caring for dogs and studied canine behaviour for two years. I am responsible, caring, and consistent in my approach, and I work hard to support positive behaviour. While not a specialist, I have strong foundational knowledge and ensure every dog in my care is well-behaved and well-looked-after. Pet care is a core part of my daily routine. I work full-time as a dog walker/handler, so my days are structured around walks, feeding, training, and providing consistent care. I also have two small dogs of my own—Sheeva (12) and Poppy (11)—which keeps me experienced and engaged every day. Caring for dogs isn’t something I fit in around life. It is my routine, and I truly enjoy giving each dog the attention, structure, and affection they need. I mainly provide care in my own home, where dogs enjoy a clean, tidy, and comfortable environment. There’s plenty of indoor space for them to relax, as well as a fully fenced, safe garden for toilet breaks and supervised outdoor play. I maintain a calm, structured routine and make sure each dog receives the right balance of attention, exercise, and affection. I treat every dog as if they were my own, ensuring they feel secure, welcomed, and well cared for throughout their stay.
“It was immediately clear that Mary is super comfortable with any challenges a dog might throw at her, and I had no worries at all about her taking Romy on off lead walks. Mary was flexible and very understanding about the fact that Romy didn't allow for much sleep during her stay. The house was also left perfectly, and we got regular updates. Very reliable and lovely. Thanks Mary!”

About: Since losing my dog a couple of years a go at the grand old age of 15, I’ve been looking after pets for friends and family since. I live right next door to a lovely park, plenty of fields and trails. Happy to put the mileage in if your pet requires it. I’m patient and dogs seem to love me. Happy to help with training also. Will also look after cats if required. I work from home at present and I can pick and choose my hours. I can adjust my routine to suit your pet if needed, no problem at all. If your pet is unsociable I can walk early and late if necessary. I have a large flat with a safe and secure balcony. I am 30 seconds away from a park, 5mins away from fields and there are a number of trails and woodland walks close by. If required to sit in at your place, I am clean, quiet and respectable. Happy to be adaptable to your pets needs. Whatever it takes to make the feel safe and secure.
“Zoe has looked after our dogs on two separate overnight stays in our home. Zoe did what we asked, and was very good at understanding that even though they are brothers they have quite different personalities and needs. Zoe sent updates with photos and always left us notes of how it all went. We highly recommend Zoe to Rover pet parents.”

“Alexandra has visited my home a few times and always interacted well with my dog. She has a warm and calm approach. I find her responsible and dependable and I fully recommend her, she makes a great dog-sitter.”

Jack is lovely and a big dog lover. His own dogs are also absolute cuties. He’s very knowledgeable on canine care and gave my dog hero a lovely outing. He was totally exhausted when he came home after a fun day with jack and his pups. I would definitely recommend jack for dog sitting/ walking. He is great :) and will put you at ease.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hertsmere choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 89% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
