“We couldn’t recommend Rita highly enough! ❤️ She looked after our Springer Spaniel, Teddy, for 10 days, and from the very beginning she was absolutely wonderful. We received daily updates, photos and little glimpses of how Teddy was getting on, which gave us so much peace of mind. It was hard for us initially, as we had never left Teddy with someone we didn’t know before. But Rita quickly put us at ease, and it was clear how much love, care and attention she gave our Teddy boy. 🐾❤️ We honestly think Teddy is missing her now that she’s gone — he’s been a little sad since she left! 🥹 We’re so grateful we found Rita. We’ll definitely be keeping in touch, because we feel like we’ve not only found someone we completely trust with Teddy, but also a lovely new friend who shares the same love for our very special boy. ❤️ Thank you, Rita, for taking such amazing care of Teddy. We couldn’t have asked for anyone better! 🐶💕”

“Rebecca was reliable and communicated well with me before, during and after she looked after my dog in my home. Honey took to her straight away and seemed happy and settled when I came home. Would definitely recommend Rebecca.”

“Megan was great looking after Leo who took to her quickly. She was highly communicative and sent lots of pics, and managed the situation brilliantly and in good humour. when she got locked in the bathroom due to a faulty lock. Will definitely ask Megan to sit / walk Leo again.”

About: I’ve had animals my whole life and have gained years of hands-on experience caring for a variety of pets, including dogs, cats, and smaller animals. Over the years, I’ve also regularly looked after friends’ and family members’ pets, helping with feeding, walking, playtime, administering basic care, and providing companionship while they were away. I’m comfortable with pets of different ages, sizes( having had an American Akita myself), and temperaments, and I always make sure they feel safe, happy, and well cared for in my company. I’m reliable, patient, and attentive to each pet’s individual needs, whether that means sticking to a routine, giving extra exercise, or simply providing plenty of affection and attention. I’m currently working full time but can be made available most evenings during the week. I am fully flexible at weekends and when I’m not spending time with my lovely dog i will happily dedicate my time to your fur babies. I have a fenced garden and one friendly dog to keep your fur baby company. My dog is very content and will be happy to be kept separate if required, he’s such a lovely boy.
About: I have grown up with animals in South Africa , having had close relationships with all the dogs in my life. I am passionate and caring and enjoy walking. My dad was a dog trainer and we were always doing activities around the dogs. I will have evenings and some weekends free. I am a school teacher so will also have school holidays available. Flexible and consistent. Trustworthy. Responsible. I have a maisonette situated in Croxley near the moor and canal so easy access for walks. The maisonette is spacious with 2 levels. I can accommodate for any needs for your pet.
“Loved all of the video and photo updates, Buddy looked like he had an amazing time and seemed really settled with Jane even though it was his first time with her. Also house was cleaner when we got home than when we had left. Highly recommend”

“Highly recommend Natalia. We had a successful Meet And Greet and then she looked after the dogs for an afternoon including going for a little walk. She is very calm and quietly confident with the dogs, including my anxious one, and they were very happy with her 🤩”
“David was great! He was very attentive to Chaves’s eating schedule and walks. He truly focused on our dog’s needs, and that made all the difference. He’s a really kind person, and Chaves loves him. We felt completely at ease — not only would we have him again, but he has already looked after Chaves more than once. We definitely recommend him! 🐾”

About: I’ve always loved dogs and have had a dog of my own, a rescue dapple Dachshund called Betty. She was a very special part of our family, and although I still get to see her a few times a year, I really miss having a dog around day to day. She’s a big part of why I love dogs so much and why I’d love to spend more time with them again. 🐾 I currently work from home 3 days a week and have weekends off, giving me plenty of flexibility. I’m a Triage Nurse Practitioner working with children and adolescents, supporting those with mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions, so being patient, caring and understanding of individual needs is a big part of what I do every day. Betty was quite an anxious dog, so I have first-hand experience of helping a nervous dog feel safe, comfortable and settled. I understand that some dogs need a little extra patience, reassurance and time to build trust. I have plenty of energy and love going for walks, playing, keeping dogs entertained and getting out and about, but I’m equally happy having a good cuddle on the sofa! I’d love the opportunity to give your dog lots of attention, care and companionship, while making sure they feel happy, comfortable and well looked after. I’m also really looking forward to enjoying some lovely doggy companionship again myself! ❤️🐶 I currently work from home 3 days a week and have weekends off, which gives me plenty of flexibility to spend quality time with dogs. I’m able to give them lots of attention throughout the day rather than leaving them alone for long periods. I’m quite active and have lots of energy, so I’d be more than happy to fit in walks, playtime and plenty of cuddles depending on what your dog enjoys. My main priority is making sure every dog feels safe, comfortable and settled while they’re with me. I’m very adaptable and would always follow the routine, rules and preferences that you have for your dog. If they’re staying in my home, they can have full access to the house if you’re happy for them to. If you’d prefer them to avoid the stairs, we have a door downstairs that can be closed to keep them safely on one level. I have a secure, fenced garden with plenty of grass, so dogs can have space to explore, sniff and relax outside. I also have extra blankets, dog toys and treats that can be shared, although I’d always check with you first before giving them anything. I have a good understanding of caring for dogs, including being aware of foods and things that can be harmful to them. Most importantly, I’d take the time to understand your dog’s individual personality, routine and needs, and do everything I can to make them feel at home, whether that means lots of energetic play and walks, or a quiet spot and plenty of cuddles. 🐶❤️

“Danielle was an amazing pet sitter. Our dog was well-cared for and happy. She provided regular updates, which reassured us while we were away. We would definitely recommend Danielle to anyone needing a reliable and caring sitter.”

“Sena recently looked after our kitten Bruno on a housesitting basis for 1 week. It was our first time using the type of service and Sena was really professional, responsive and immediately put us at ease. Right from the meet and greet, we knew Bruno would be in good hands! We received daily photo and video updates and the communication has been brilliant throughout the whole process. We cannot recommend Sena highly enough and definitely be reaching out to her again next time we need a sitter!”

About: I am a maths teacher in a hospital and teach children in both short- and long- term stays and recurring stays. I enjoy travelling, meeting new people (and animals) and reading and watching psychological thrillers.
“Ellen is a wonderful sitter — Chaves has stayed with her more than once and she's coming back again this week, which speaks for itself. She did a meet and greet first, asked all the right questions, and kept me updated the whole time. Easygoing, caring, and reliable. Chaves and I are lucky to have found her!☺️🐶”

“Thank you so much Heather for taking such good care of Rosie. Although I hope she didn’t bark as much at your neighbours as she currently doing to mine. We’ll definitely ask you to look after her again if we have any more big family events.”

Great cat sitter! She's amazing with cats. Before I left my girl, I noticed that she had a paw injury. Ellesha checked my baby's paw everyday and sent me updates on she was healing. She also successfully gave her pain meds for 4 days. She took very good care of our home as well. Thanks! I came home to 2 happy cats 🩵

Great housesitting from Charlotte. We left our 4months old puppy for the first time with someone else and Charlotte helped us not to feel worried and confident we left our puppy in good hands. Everything went perfectly. Charlotte also kindly privided feedback and gave advice on food and training.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.

- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Three Rivers choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 89% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
