About: I have lifelong experience caring for dogs and studied canine behaviour for two years. I am responsible, caring, and consistent in my approach, and I work hard to support positive behaviour. While not a specialist, I have strong foundational knowledge and ensure every dog in my care is well-behaved and well-looked-after. Pet care is a core part of my daily routine. I work full-time as a dog walker/handler, so my days are structured around walks, feeding, training, and providing consistent care. I also have two small dogs of my own—Sheeva (12) and Poppy (11)—which keeps me experienced and engaged every day. Caring for dogs isn’t something I fit in around life. It is my routine, and I truly enjoy giving each dog the attention, structure, and affection they need. I mainly provide care in my own home, where dogs enjoy a clean, tidy, and comfortable environment. There’s plenty of indoor space for them to relax, as well as a fully fenced, safe garden for toilet breaks and supervised outdoor play. I maintain a calm, structured routine and make sure each dog receives the right balance of attention, exercise, and affection. I treat every dog as if they were my own, ensuring they feel secure, welcomed, and well cared for throughout their stay.

Louis looked after our 2 year old cockapoo this week and we came back to a very happy dog! Even while working from home, Louis took breaks throughout the day to keep our dog entertained, and provided us with lots of updates. There is a lovely big field near him as well which was a beautiful convenient spot for walks. We would definitely use Louis again.

About: Hello, I’m Abby! I’m an animal lover and pet parent to three cats and one very fluffy dog - so I completely understand how important it is to trust someone with your pets. 🐾 I bring my dog to enclosed fields and go on fun adventures several times a week and would love to bring some other furry friends with us too! If your dog would like a change in scenery, a chance to run around freely in a safe space send me a message! 🥰 I prioritise dog wellbeing, safety, exercise, and lots of love on every walk and visit. I am also a qualified and experienced dog groomer working from home with hands-on experience caring for dogs of all sizes and personalities. I’m comfortable with everything from energetic puppies to senior dogs who need a gentler pace. Your dog’s happiness, safety and wellbeing are always my top priority! 🐾 I currently work from home as a dog groomer taking on minimal appointments a week, leaving me a lot of extra time to spend with more dogs! I enjoy doing all things that involves my own furball - from daily training, group classes to hiring out fenced enclosures for full off lead freedom multiple times a week and we would love for some new fluffy friends to join us! I always put dogs comfort and wellbeing as a priority. As a personal rule, I don't introduce new dogs to each other right away - I like to get to know your dog personally first before I introduce them to others in for the safety of everyone's dogs. I have a fully fenced garden that is always accessible as well as a crate for those who prefers a safe secure space.

About: Since losing my dog a couple of years a go at the grand old age of 15, I’ve been looking after pets for friends and family since. I live right next door to a lovely park, plenty of fields and trails. Happy to put the mileage in if your pet requires it. I’m patient and dogs seem to love me. Happy to help with training also. I work from home at present and I can pick and choose my hours. I can adjust my routine to suit your pet if needed, no problem at all. If your pet is unsociable I can walk early and late if necessary. I have a large flat with a safe and secure balcony. I am 30 seconds away from a park, 5mins away from fields and there are a number of trails and woodland walks close by. If required to sit in at your place, I am clean, quiet and respectable. Happy to be adaptable to your pets needs. Whatever it takes to make the feel safe and secure.

About: My experience with dogs really started with Chicho, my French Bulldog 🐾. And honestly, he was the best teacher I could've asked for. French Bulldogs aren't the easiest dogs to figure out, the breathing quirks, the heat sensitivity, the stubbornness when they've decided they don't want to move. Working through all of that gave me a much better feel for dogs in general. I started noticing when a dog is genuinely anxious versus just being a bit dramatic, how much routines matter, and how to help a dog feel calm somewhere new. Since then I've spent time with dogs of different breeds and sizes, and I think that's where you really learn. Every dog has its own thing going on. Some want to be reassured every ten minutes, some just clock where the sofa is and they're sorted. I've gotten pretty good at reading that quickly. I don't have years of professional history to list, but what I do have is real, day-to-day experience caring for dogs and genuinely caring about getting it right. Your dog will be treated like mine. 🐶❤️ I work freelance in digital marketing, so my schedule's fairly relaxed. No office to dash off to, no fixed hours, which means fitting dogs into the day is dead easy. 🐾 I'm also right on the doorstep of a park, literally. So walks aren't a whole thing, it's straight out the door and you're there. Grass, open space, plenty of other dogs to have a good sniff around. Honestly it's a decent setup, probably more ideal for the dogs than it is for me. 😄 Whether it's a walk, a full day, or an overnight stay, the approach is pretty much the same. I keep things calm, consistent, and as close to their normal routine as possible. If they're used to eating at a certain time or sleeping in a specific spot, I'll work around that. Dogs do better when things feel familiar, even in a new place. For day care and overnights at mine, they've got a comfortable home environment, nothing too precious or off limits. 🏡 Chicho taught me early on that dogs need space to just be dogs. For walks, we're straight into the park, good distance, proper time outside, not a quick loop around the block. I always keep owners updated with a few photos and a message during the day. I know how much you worry, even when you try not to. 😄🐾

Amanda was very responsive leading up to the day and she was flexible with drop off and pick up times. She was also able to give my dog her oral tablets. About: Hey! My name is Sena, I’m a lawyer working part time in the city, now based in Radlett where I get to enjoy the outdoors and spend more time around lots of animals. I grew up in a home with several pets, so caring for animals has always come naturally to me. Over the years I’ve gained hands-on experience with dogs of different breeds, sizes, and temperaments, as well as cats and other small animals. I’m confident, patient, and attentive, and I treat every pet as if they were my own! :) At home I have a 14year old ginger tabby cat called Simba, who has been with me since he was a kitten and a 4 year German Shepherd cross Akita named Ralph :) Ralph has helped me build strong experience in handling larger, energetic dogs, I work Tuesday- Thursdays in the city. My partner and I alternate our work from home days so Ralph and Simba are never left alone Your dog will be looked after in a calm, loving home with plenty of attention throughout the day. I have a fully fenced garden for safe outdoor time, plus regular walks in the local open fields here in Radlett for exercise and fresh air. There’s lots of playtime, interaction, and company depending on your dog’s personality and energy levels — whether they’re active or prefer a quieter pace. I’m happy to follow all dietary requirements closely and stick to your dog’s normal routine. Brushing and basic grooming can also be included if needed. To keep things stress-free, your dog will be kept separate from my own dog, Ralph, so they can fully relax and feel at home in a calm environment.

FAQs for Doggy Day Care - Hertsmere

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Doggy Day Care in Hertsmere on Rover is £40.25 per day (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Doggy Day Care easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Doggy Day Care. For more information on service fees, click here .

There are 16,320 sitters on Rover for Doggy Day Care in Hertsmere. About 87% of Hertsmere sitters can respond to requests in under 60 minutes. Whether you are planning ahead for public holidays, need last-minute care, or need same-day cover for an urgent trip, you can message multiple sitters at once to find available care.

Once you find the right match, you can arrange a Meet & Greet to ensure they are a perfect fit for your pet’s personality before confirming.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later collection to match your Hertsmere commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust collection and drop-off times when needed.

Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:

  • Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
  • Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
  • Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
  • Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
  • Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible

Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s booking protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
