“Christine was very professional in her communications with us before taking in Gemma. During her stay, Christine sent us photos everyday and took Gemma out for walks often. Our dog is normally quite nervous but seemed to be very happy and relaxed with Christine, who gave her constant attention and company. We had total peace of mind during the 6 days.”

“Zrin and his family were our saviours. They took on Xena at short notice as our previous Dogsitters cancelled last minute and Zrin and his family took Xena into their home and took amazing care of her. She was more than happy to stay with them and they updated me regularly on how she was getting on. We will recommend Zrin to all of our family and friends.”

“We were a bit anxious as this is the first time we have left our lab overnight but as soon as we met Yamini we felt comfortable doing so. She is very knowledgeable about dogs, is both friendly and professional, and she has so much affection for the dogs she looks after. She understood all of his needs, she sent us lots of updates incl photos and videos so we could see what a great time he was having. He loved his weekend with Yamini and Sparky, we could tell not only from the videos but also from when we went to pick him up. We are so grateful to her for doing such a good job of looking after him, we would highly recommend her and definitely would want to book Yamini again.”

Would definitely recommend Sarah and we’ll definitely use her again to look after Patch next time we go away.”

Yamini took excellent care of our nervous dog Poppy who typically doesn’t do well with separation. She gave her lots of love and attention for the two night stay, and we got many updates that put our mind at ease. We intend to keep using Yamini going forward for all our out of town trips. Thank you, Yam!

Christine was very professional in her communications with us before taking in Gemma. During her stay, Christine sent us photos everyday and took Gemma out for walks often. Our dog is normally quite nervous but seemed to be very happy and relaxed with Christine, who gave her constant attention and company. We had total peace of mind during the 6 days.

We are so happy that we have found Paul! He is a really lovely guy. You can see he has a real passion for what he does and he is very knowledgeable. He genuinely loves the dogs he looks after. Milo has no problem going straight into his garden! When we leave I think he does get a little flustered but soon settles down and relaxes. He always comes back thoroughly exhausted! We would thoroughly recommend Paul.
I left my little doggies with Louise, and I can honestly say that she and her family have become like part of our own family. Kostis and Mata are always so excited when we arrive outside her house, and seeing how happy they are gives me complete peace of mind. Louise keeps me updated consistently on how they're doing, and she always takes the time to care for them as individuals, understanding that each of them has their own unique personality. We're moving away from High Wycombe, and without a doubt, one of the things we'll miss the most is Louise. I couldn't recommend her more highly. If you're looking for someone to care for your pets as if they were her own, don't hesitate to get in touch with her.
Jessica took wonderful care of Baloo. She reply and sent me photos constantly. She followed all the instructions I gave her. Baloo had a lot of fun with Scooby. She's really good and knowledgeable, and very capable of interpreting Baloo's needs. I would definitely recommend her.

Axelle was amazing looking after Charlie for an overnight stay. She asked all the right questions, was super knowledgeable and her love for dogs shone through! She gave me lovely updates throughout the stay which really put my mind at ease. Charlie can’t wait to hang out with his new bestie Axelle again!

Elena welcomed our little terrier Preston & was very understanding with his needs, I could tell she was confident with dogs & understood his issues. She sent me photos straight away to show me he had settled in & sent me photos during his stay. She was accommodating with timings & I would definitely use her again.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
