“We left our Dachshund Colin with Rachel for the weekend, and she was amazing! Lots of communication and pictures, and Colin seemed very happy and well cared for. Would 100% have Rachel look after Colin again x”

“Ted had a lovely time with Ann and her family. He settled really quickly and got on well with the other dogs there, which was good as it was his first time away from home and us at the same time. We were sent lots of updates and photos during the week. Ann showed great care for Ted and we would definitely use her again. Thank you!”

“Vinny had a wonderful time staying with Andrea and Luka. Andrea sent regular updates and photos throughout the day, which gave me real peace of mind while he was with her. By the time I picked him up, he was tuckered out and ready for bed. I would thoroughly recommend Andrea to anyone looking for a caring dog sitter.”

“Shilpi was very flexible and accommodating towards us and the needs of our 8 month old dog. Her dogs were very friendly and our dog seemed to settle in at her home. The photos and short updates sent to us while we were away were great to see that Frankie was fine.”

“Finley had another overnight stay with Kasia and her family. He was sooo pleased to be back! He clearly had a great time and was so well cared for by Kasia. Thank you as always. Clare Al and of course the one and only Finley xx 😊”

“Amanda, Trevor, and their family took excellent care of our two large, quirky dogs. They were very communicative, organized, and thoughtful - all the pictures we received during the stay showed eminently happy pups. Any dogs would be lucky to stay with them!”

“Gordon had a lovely time staying with Meg and family! They greeted him with a very warm welcome and let him explore to get comfortable, and he came home very well rested and cared for! Thank you Meg for taking care of him in the heatwave, asking lots of questions and sharing pictures and updates throughout the day :)”

“Claire and her family where fantastic with my dog Marley, he was spoilt rotten with attention and treats, he didn't want to leave. Can definitely recommend. Fantastic service.”

“Kat and David have taken good care of izzy whilst we were on holiday. Izzy was poorly whilst we were away and they kept us informed. Would highly recommend. Thank you. X”

“Chenyan is the best dog sitter in the area! She understands Tadhgs needs, his personality and makes him feel as comfortable as possible when he is there, we’re so grateful we found her and her partner to have tadhg when we’re away, she keeps us updated and we don’t worry about a thing. We will definitely be rebooking :)”

“Prerna let me know Snowy was settling in well for his first-time stay and sent several photos. Snowy and Brownie (Prerna's dog) seemed to get along fine together and enjoy each other's company. Thanks to Prerna and family and Brownie for taking good care of Snowy!”

“Monty had a great time with Eirida. She looked after him for 2 weeks at short notice. Monty enjoyed his walks and he loved playing with Coco, Eirida’s dog. Eirida’s daughter helped him to settle at night. All in all, he had a marvellous time and was very well looked after. I would highly recommend Eirida.”

“We boarded our dog for 3 days and couldn’t be happier! He came back happy and well-cared for — with regular walks, park playtime, and lots of photo updates. Sarah was very considerate, followed all instructions, and was very accommodating with timings. We’d definitely recommend her and would love to rebook next time!”

“Lisa and family did a wonderful job of looking after Pippa over Christmas. Regular updates and photos / videos received. I would highly recommend to any other owners looking for boarding in the area.”

“Emma and her family were amazing, very welcoming and very much focused on how to look after Luna the best, we had updates and photos everyday, which was great. More importantly Luna looked very happy and content. Highly recommend.”

“We are so happy with how Belle's sit went. She came back very happy and chilled (despite being a slightly anxious dog that doesn't like to be away from home). Vanessa kept us updated and sent pictures and we felt reassured that Belle was being really well looked after.”

Amanda was fantastic with Rio! She was kind, caring, and made us feel completely at ease. It was clear that Rio was well looked after and happy in her care. She kept me updated and was friendly and reliable throughout. I'd be very happy to book with Amanda again and would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter. Thank you, Amanda!

We left Teddy with Adrianna for one night while we were away. The communication from Adrianna was great before and during the stay. Her dog, Crumble, was very calm when we arrived, and Teddy went straight off and made himself at home! We received updates and pics during the stay, and she even managed to take Teddy out for a bit which was great. Would definitely use Adrianna again. Thanks for looking after Teddy

Dexter's third stay with this gem of a family. When I dropped Dexter off this time, his tail wagged merrily on hearing Susan's doorbell and he went straight in and made himself at home in their lovely garden. He absolutely loves staying with Sue and Geoff who gave him so much attention from long daily walks to making sure he was walked near their house to avoid long journeys in the heat. Already booking the next stay and we only book holidays when we know this lovely couple can have Dexter. They are amazing.

Sabina was an amazing sitter. She took my overnight booking last minute due to a family emergency. It was the first time I'd left my dog with someone she doesn't know and I was a little nervous about it but Sabine took wonderful care of her, my dog was happy and settled there. She provided me with regular updates and was so kind and gentle with her.

I can't recommend Ann and Tor more as Alfie our dog always has the best time with their family. He always comes back having eaten well and slept and gets on very well with their dog Sid and is getting braver I think with the cat George. We know he enjoys it as whenever we walk past the house on our daily walks he always pulls in the direction of the house

This is my second time leaving my pup with Miki and she was fantastic. We booked for a long holiday and she kept me updated regularly and even went so far as to accommodate my dog’s fussiness when it came to meal time. I will continue to use her as a babysitter and would highly recommend her to others as well!

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
