Hi! I just wanted to say a huge thank you for looking after Dash over the last four days. You did such an amazing job, and I really appreciated the daily updates and photos—they gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. It was clear that Dash was happy, well cared for, and in great hands the whole time. Thank you for taking such good care of him and treating him like your own. I wouldn’t hesitate to ask you again in the future and would happily recommend you to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter. Thanks again!

What a find Natalie is. Truly a star sitter. Took care of my little man so well. Sent me lots of pictures and updates. I could see my from them and Natalie's updates, he was having a whale of a time. Slotted into their life and was treated like one of the family. I can't praise her enough for her kindness and at short notice too.

Laura was an absolute godsend, I had seen someone previous and it just didn’t work so I was panicking, Laura took a meet and greet last minute for me and was so calm with Evie and looked after her the next day, I had such peace of mind. Such a lovely family and my pooch was spoiled and had the best time with the other doggos there. Thanks Laura xxx

This was our first experience using Rover, and Marcus and Kathleen made it an exceptionally positive one from start to finish. Before booking, we met Marcus and his dog Bailey for a one-to-one introduction, which went incredibly well. Marcus was warm, reassuring, perceptive, and genuinely interested in getting to know our precious Puggle, Pippa. It was clear from the outset that he understands dogs and takes the time to learn about their individual personalities, routines, and needs. We also arranged a home visit before Pippa’s stay, which gave us a great opportunity to see the environment she would be staying in and where the dogs spend their time. As Pippa is very much a scent-driven Puggle, she loves investigating new surroundings, sniffing every corner, crack, and cranny as she settles into a new space. Being able to explore the house and garden beforehand, as well as meeting Kathleen, helped her feel comfortable and familiar with everything. Throughout Pippa’s stay, Marcus and Kathleen kept us regularly updated with messages and photos covering her daily walks, snoozing sessions, and overall demeanour. This was particularly appreciated during the heatwave that coincided with our holiday, as it gave us complete confidence that Pippa was comfortable, well cared for, and having her individual needs thoughtfully considered. Their communication was supportive, engaging, and exactly the kind of reassurance we would hope for from such well-rounded and experienced sitters. Throughout the whole process, Marcus and Kathleen were welcoming, professional, and clearly passionate about providing a safe, caring, and enjoyable environment for the dogs in their care. They gave us complete confidence that Pippa would be happy and well looked after. We would have no hesitation in recommending Marcus and Kathleen to other dog owners and would gladly trust them with Pippa again in the future. Five stars from both us and Pippa. 🐾

Eliot and his partner were fantastic hosts for our dog Ffinn. They were vary caring and understanding of his needs, especially during a period of very hot weather and exercised him as we wished. We particularly liked the narrative and photos that Eliot sent us daily as it reassured us that Ffinn was doing well. When we collected Ffinn, it was clear that he had enjoyed his stay, he was comfortable in Eliot's house but still pleased to see us. Overall, I would highly recommend Eliot and his partner.

Yasmin is a fantastic choice to look after your doggos! My two dogs stayed with her for a week, but we first had a quick meet-up a few weeks beforehand so they (and I) could get to know her. When I dropped them off for their stay, it was clear she’d already made a great impression — they were so excited to see her again! There were no issues at all during their stay. Yasmin kept in touch throughout the week with a lovely stream of photos and updates from their various adventures — both around her flat and on their walks around the racecourse — which was so reassuring. When I picked them up, both Nova (a medium-sized Labradoodle) and Roxy (a small Cockapoo) were happy, healthy, freshly bathed, well-fed, and delightfully exhausted after a week of walks, pampering, and cuddles. Thank you, Yasmin — from me, Nova, and Roxy! 🐾

About: I have had my own dog for 11 years, he’s now an elderly gentleman! As a household we love animals and look forward to looking after your pets, I will be looking after them as their primary carer. . I have also had cats for 15 years, currently just one beauty. I’m here to look after your furry guests and help them settle in. I always do two good walks a day with our own dog or a trip to the park. On top of this we do two toilet breaks if needed. As the garden is not currently secure, I don’t use this for dogs. Dogs sleep in the kitchen which has rubber flooring at the moment, no caging unless requested. Our dog is older so can be a bit lazy and needs his rest, we have plenty of room for dogs to have their own space if needed, but he generally likes company. I am a cat lover and happy to provide drop in cat care, feeding, litter and cuddles.

About: As a lifelong animal lover, I’ve grown up surrounded by pets and have cared for my own animals as well as those of family and friends for many years. I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust to care for your dog while you’re away. I share my home with Rafferty, my friendly 2-year-old Cockapoo, who loves having canine company. I work remotely from home, so your dog will have plenty of attention, supervision, and companionship throughout the day. We maintain a consistent routine with Rafferty, including regular exercise, mental stimulation, and varied walks to keep things interesting and enriching. When your dog stays with us, they’ll be welcomed as part of the family and cared for as if they were our own. I take the time to understand each dog’s individual needs, personality, and preferences so I can provide a comfortable, consistent, and loving home-from-home experience during their stay. I work full time from home so am available throughout the day to care for your dog’s needs and keep them company. We have a good routine with our own dog, Rafferty, with morning/evening walks and plenty of play breaks through the day. I have a fenced garden and your dog will be welcome throughout our home so they can find the spaces they feel most comfortable le in. Your pet's safety and happiness is of the utmost importance.

About: I had a Border Terrier for 17 years who grew up with our family and was loved by everyone. She lived a long & happy life and we had to nurse her in her final years when she succumbed to dementia. I have a lots of empty space in my life for a dog as I am now retired. I love walking through the countryside with a dog too. I have a large secure garden for a dog to explore . I live in a village and a few minutes walk from the fields which is perfect for dogs. We also have a local recreation ground which also welcomes dogs.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
