“We wouldn't hesitate to ask Helen to look after Crecho again. Our boy is elderly and requires a lot of attention and we honestly felt that he was in capable and caring hands. We received updates and Crecho was very happy upon pick-up!”

“Ivy had a lovely weekend with Stuarr, Misha and family. She came home so relaxed and happy. Stuart was very caring and attentive to Ivy and we would definitely recommend Stuart to other pooches looking for a loving and caring break. 👍”

“It was difficult for us to leave our baby for a few days but we definitely found the right person to look after her. Jess sent through photos and videos of Bella playing with her dogs, and by the looks of it she didn’t miss us! We are very happy to leave Bella with Jess in the future and can’t thank her enough for taking such good care of her. Would highly recommend Jess to anyone looking for a dog sitter!”

“Alline and her family looked after Freddie for us whilst we were at a wedding in the area. He had such a wonderful time, and we received regular pictures and videos of him on beautiful walks and having lots of fun at home, which was so reassuring! Freddie came home with a little toy and some really touching letters from her children - what a wonderful family 🥰 We wouldn’t hesitate to use Alline again and would 100% recommend her for dog sitting. Thank you so much!”

“Pedro and his family came to the rescue at short notice as we needed our two whippets to be cared for whilst we hosted a party in our home. It made all the difference to know they were safe in a family home (on the sofa) We will definitely use Pedro again”

“Laura was so amazing throughout the whole stay. She provided clips of our little pup loving every second of her stay, and stuck to the routine she was used to. Could not be happier ☺️”

“Nicola and her family were just fantastic. Branston loved staying with them and the family loved having him. Nicola is a very caring person and loves dogs. Nicola also sends lots of doggy updates and pics and knowing our dog was being well looked after just meant we could enjoy our break without worrying.”

“First time leaving our two girls with a sitter, and could not have found a better pair of hands and a welcoming home for Harriet and Heidi! Great communication from introductory visit to picking them up, girls had clearly had a great time, plenty of cuddles and attention. Highly recommend Jess, and will be using again for any future requirements, also thanks to George for doing the morning walks!”

“Lucie had a lovely time with Oliver and Holly, they looked after her so well. They certainly are experienced at responding to individual dogs needs, Lucie is a more mature dog! And they took extra care with making her comfortable in the heatwave, she loved the ice creams! Thank you so much for having her, we will definitely like you to look after again.”

“What a find Natalie is. Truly a star sitter. Took care of my little man so well. Sent me lots of pictures and updates. I could see my from them and Natalie's updates, he was having a whale of a time. Slotted into their life and was treated like one of the family. I can't praise her enough for her kindness and at short notice too.”

“Jacob took very good care of my dog Duchess. He was communicative, flexible and sent lots of pictures and updates. He and Duchess seemed like they had a really good time together, and he allowed her to sleep on his bed too, which is always a plus! I will definitely ask him to look after my dog again.”

About: As a lifelong animal lover, I’ve grown up surrounded by pets and have cared for my own animals as well as those of family and friends for many years. I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust to care for your dog while you’re away. I share my home with Rafferty, my friendly 2-year-old Cockapoo, who loves having canine company. I work remotely from home, so your dog will have plenty of attention, supervision, and companionship throughout the day. We maintain a consistent routine with Rafferty, including regular exercise, mental stimulation, and varied walks to keep things interesting and enriching. When your dog stays with us, they’ll be welcomed as part of the family and cared for as if they were our own. I take the time to understand each dog’s individual needs, personality, and preferences so I can provide a comfortable, consistent, and loving home-from-home experience during their stay. I work full time from home so am available throughout the day to care for your dog’s needs and keep them company. We have a good routine with our own dog, Rafferty, with morning/evening walks and plenty of play breaks through the day. I have a fenced garden and your dog will be welcome throughout our home so they can find the spaces they feel most comfortable le in. Your pet's safety and happiness is of the utmost importance.
“These guys are great and we will be definitely be using them again. They were always in touch and sending us pics and videos of our dog whilst he was with them. Our dog had a lovely time and was very happy.”

- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
