“My dog has just come back from her first overnight stay with Anna and appears to have had such a lovely time she would have happily stayed longer! Anna was very easy to contact, replied to my messages very quickly, kept me updated on my dog settling in, and, most importantly, looked after my dog brilliantly. Will certainly book again x”

“Helen is such a lovely lady. She looked after my dog at short notice over Christmas and I would most definitely use her again and recommend her services. She was just so lovely with my dog. Sending updates and pics. Taking him for long walks and allowing him to be part of her family. Highly recommend - 5*****”

“Eve was a great sitter for our Lady. Especially under the extreme circumstances of the heatwave. We had some updates, and Eve amended the care plan to fit the extra heat situation too. Will be rebooking for next month. Thank you for taking good care of our girl. Much appreciated. 🙏🏼💖”

“Joshua was amazing with our Golden Retriever, Nova. He looked after her for a week while we were on holiday and kept us updated the whole time. Nova came back happy and well cared for. We’d definitely book with him again and highly recommend him!”

“James was lovely from start to finish. Very communicative about what was needed in advance, and you could tell they are used to dealing with dogs. The family were very friendly and our dog came back happy! We received updates whilst we were out which was nice.”

“Thank you Ella, Patrick and Nova for looking after Teddy. The photos and updates were so reassuring. I've never left Teddy with anyone (except my sister) before so I was a bit worried he might be sad. I didn't need to worry! Ella and co took great care of Teddy taking him on walks and played fetch, his favourite things to do, I could tell from the photos he was very happy and contented. I would not hesitate to contact Ella again if needed, she's warm and friendly and I can tell a natural with our precious pooches . Thank you again, Teddy sends hugs and licks.”

“Emma and her husband looked after my puppy for the night, they were both very understanding as unfortunately he became ill overnight after being at a dog show and eating something that didn’t agree with him. Very good communication and very understanding with a stressful situation.”

“Shelley was the perfect the dog sitter for our Vizsla Bailey. She made us feel so comfortable by ensuring she got to know us before the sit by meeting for a few walks prior. Bailey had a wonderful time and made some lovely bonds with her family. During the sit Shelley shared photos everyday of Bailey which was lovely to see her having a great time. We would highly recommend Shelley and her family to sit for your pets!”

About: As a lifelong pet owner and animal lover, I’ve cared for dogs, cats, and many other pets throughout my life. I’m experienced with large breeds, can offer basic training support, and always take the time to understand each pet’s individual needs and personality. I treat every pet as if they were my own precious baby, providing plenty of love, attention, exercise, and companionship to help them feel right at home 🐾❤️ I have flexibility in my daily routine, I’m available mornings and evenings for walks, feeding, and care, and I plan my routine around the pets I look after. I live in a house with a secure, fully fenced garden where pets can safely enjoy time outdoors. I have a gentle, well-behaved dog who is calm and used to being around other animals. I always introduce pets carefully and make sure everyone feels comfortable and settled. Your pet will be treated like one of my own, with a safe, clean home environment and plenty of attention, care, and routine maintained throughout their stay. 🐾

“Jess is the absolute best, no one else we would trust our dog with - she absolutely adores spending time with Jess and her dogs. Jess always goes above and beyond to make the experience the best it can be. We feel so grateful to have found her x”

“Sam and Rob are clearly dog lovers and welcomed Boni and Truffle into their home, where they settled very well. They were given lots of cuddles and love. Sam kept me updated several times a day with newsy reports and photos of their daily antics! I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a loving home from home. Thank you so much Sam and Rob for everything!”

“Nicola and her family were just fantastic. Branston loved staying with them and the family loved having him. Nicola is a very caring person and loves dogs. Nicola also sends lots of doggy updates and pics and knowing our dog was being well looked after just meant we could enjoy our break without worrying.”

About: Myself and Ben have both grown up surrounded by family pets and have always had a huge love for animals. Over the years, we've been the go-to pet sitters for family and friends, caring for dogs and cats for anything from a single day to several weeks at a time. Sadly, we lost our beloved 18-year-old cat last year. While we're not quite ready for another permanent furry family member, we would love the opportunity to share our home, care, and affection with your pets. We understand how important it is to know your pet is safe, happy, and well looked after while you're away. Whether it's walks, feeding, playtime, cuddles, sticking to their usual routine, or simply providing companionship, we're happy to help. We'll treat your pet as if they were our own and make sure they receive plenty of love, attention, and care. I currently work from home full time Monday - Friday and my partner is at home 2-3 days during the week; this means we are on hand to give your pet the best care. We live in a home with a flat, secure garden, perfect for supervised outdoor time, and an open-plan living space downstairs. We do not have any other pets or children so if any specifics are needed (i.e dog beds / crate) these will have to be provided.
About: I grew up with dogs and have been a proud dog owner for the past three years. I also regularly care for friends’ and family members’ dogs during both short visits and longer stays, looking after dogs ranging from young puppies to older adults. As the owner of a senior dog myself, I understand the specific needs of dogs in their retirement years and take a calm, patient, and thoughtful approach to their care. I genuinely enjoy spending time with dogs and love playing with them daily. I make sure they get the right amount of exercise and mental stimulation, using games, training prompts, and exploration to keep them active, happy, and healthy. For me, dog care is about building trust, routine, and lots of tail wags. I work remotely and am able to take dogs from 9am Friday through to 7pm Monday. As a dog owner regular walks and toilets breaks are built into my day and I’ve always go time for play and enrichment games. I live in a flat (3rd floor with lift - no balcony) with a calm relaxed older dog who loves company. Whilst I have no garden I have access to green space for toilet trips and sniffy walks. At weekends I like to visit a private secure dog walking field to give the dogs a good run around before heading home for some cuddles. I have a crate if required and for travelling (to a secure field) I have a boot guard or dog seatbelt as required.

Eve was a great sitter for our Lady. Especially under the extreme circumstances of the heatwave. We had some updates, and Eve amended the care plan to fit the extra heat situation too. Will be rebooking for next month. Thank you for taking good care of our girl. Much appreciated. 🙏🏼💖

My dog loves Alicia and could tell he is very comfortable around her and in her house, he would always want to go in whenever we go past hers on our walk. He feels at home at Alicia’s and would always runs straight upstairs when I drop him off. Alicia keeps me updated on how my dog is doing and share pictures when the day is finished which I always look forward to. She is our favourite Dogsitter in the area 💯

Barney had the best week with Leanne and Keegan! As a sensitive dog, we always feel a little nervous if we have to leave him, but we could not have found him a better home for his holiday. It was reassuring to see him so happy and loved in all the daily updates and making a new best friend with another dog that was also staying. We can’t recommend Leanne highly enough and look forward to booking more stays in the future!

I couldn't recommend Margarita more highly. This was a very last-minute booking, and I contacted her only a few hours before I needed care for Milly. She replied promptly, answered all of my questions patiently, and immediately put me at ease. As a first-time stay with a new sitter, and with no time for a meet and greet, I was naturally a little apprehensive, but Margarita was incredibly reassuring from the start. Throughout Milly's stay, she kept me updated with messages and photos, and it was clear that she genuinely cared about her wellbeing. Knowing Milly was in such capable hands gave me complete peace of mind and allowed me to relax and enjoy my time away. She was also very flexible when my collection time changed, which I really appreciated. Thank you so much, Margarita, for accommodating my requests at such short notice and for taking such wonderful care of my pup. I wouldn't hesitate to book with you again.

I would highly recommend using Anna! She was so good with our dog and really took time to get to know him so that he could be as happy as possible when staying with her. She treated him as her own and took him on all kinds of adventures and kept us updated the whole time so we didn’t feel worried once.

Shelley was the perfect the dog sitter for our Vizsla Bailey. She made us feel so comfortable by ensuring she got to know us before the sit by meeting for a few walks prior. Bailey had a wonderful time and made some lovely bonds with her family. During the sit Shelley shared photos everyday of Bailey which was lovely to see her having a great time. We would highly recommend Shelley and her family to sit for your pets!

Charlotte was absolutely wonderful with Zoey! It was our first time leaving her, but the regular photo updates kept my mind completely at ease. Zoey looked so happy and relaxed in every shot, which tells me she felt right at home. I can’t recommend Charlotte enough for her communication and genuine care. We will definitely be booking again! 🐾

Anisha was amazing with our little Nani and took great care of her whilst we were away for a week. We received many photo updates of Nani happily playing with her dog Storm, and we are sure Nani was sad to see their time together come to an end. We would highly recommend Anisha as a fantastic and trustworthy dog sitter!

Emma and her husband looked after my puppy for the night, they were both very understanding as unfortunately he became ill overnight after being at a dog show and eating something that didn’t agree with him. Very good communication and very understanding with a stressful situation.

Thank you Albee and Lily for taking such good care of Baxter. Loved the updates I got whilst aboard so that I could focus on my holiday without worrying about him. Thank you for dropping him home last night and sorting him out before I got home - appreciate you both going above and beyond to make sure he was home safe and sound!!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
