About: I’ve grown up around dogs and have had a dog in my life for as long as I can remember, so caring for pets has always felt like second nature to me. While at university, I also took part in BorrowMyDoggy, which gave me the opportunity to spend time with and care for dogs outside of my own home. I’ve also regularly helped friends and family look after their pets, whether that’s dog walking, feeding, keeping them company or simply giving them lots of cuddles and attention. I genuinely love being around animals and understand how important it is to know your pet is happy, safe and well cared for when you’re not there. I’d love to give your pet the same care and attention I’d want for my own. I currently work from home around 90% of the time, which gives me lots of flexibility during the day and means I’m able to fit pet care around my working hours. I’m happy to visit pets in their own homes, take dogs out for walks, pop in for feeding and company, or spend longer periods with them if needed. As I work remotely, I can also work from your home while looking after your pet, so they can have plenty of company throughout the day rather than being left alone for long periods. I’m flexible and happy to work around your pet’s usual routine wherever possible. Your pet’s safety and happiness would always be my priority. I take the time to understand their usual routine, personality and any specific instructions from their owner, and I’m happy to follow their normal feeding, walking and care routines as closely as possible. When visiting a pet owner’s home, I’m respectful of their space and treat their home with the same care I would my own. I’ll make sure doors, gates and windows are secure, keep pets supervised and make sure they’re comfortable and settled before I leave. As I work from home most of the time, I’m also able to give pets plenty of attention and company during the day when needed. Above all, I want owners to feel confident that their pets are in safe, caring and trustworthy hands.
“Shelley looked after my two dogs in our home beautifully. We have a high energy spaniel and a highly needy sausage dog! She kept in touch with regular updates, pictures and videos and they seem extremely happy and well cared for on our return home! Our house was more tidy when we got home than when we left! Thank you so much Shelley for making our holiday completely stress free, we can’t recommend you highly enough ☺️🌟”

“First time using this service and Karan’s profile stood out a mile and for obvious reasons because she is amazing ! I took my first holiday in many years and Karan looked after clingy dog and cats amazingly. I had lots of lovely photos and even my plants were tended to ! Will be using Karen lots in the future and can totally reccomend. She’s so wonderful.”

“This was our second time using Hollie, she is great with both our dogs and cats. Hollie's communication has been really good throughout and she sends lovely updates so we know all is well at home. The house was left clean and tidy and we would definitely not hesitate to use again. Thanks Hollie!”

“Very happy with Grace’s services. She dog/house sat for us for 2 weeks looking after our 3 dogs z Our pups were cared for during our time away, got nice long walks and seemed very content with Grace when we got back. The house was all in order and we would while heatedly recommend Grace.”

“Anna looked after our English Bulldog puppy for four nights in our home, and we couldn’t be happier with the care she provided. From the moment she arrived, she was warm, engaging, and fantastic with our dog. He’s still a playful, strong puppy, but Anna handled him with ease and confidence. She has such a lovely, calming presence, which put both us and our dog at ease straight away. Every instruction we left was followed perfectly, and during an extremely hot spell of weather, she used her initiative and made all the right decisions to ensure our dog’s comfort and wellbeing. Knowing he was in such capable hands allowed us to relax and enjoy our time away. We received plenty of photos and updates throughout, which we really appreciated. When we experienced unexpected last-minute delays returning home, Anna was an absolute star and went back to feed our dog without a moment’s hesitation. As if that wasn’t enough, our home was left spotless and exactly as we had left it. We are incredibly grateful to Anna for everything she did. She went above and beyond in every way, and we have no hesitation in saying that she is now our dog sitter for life. Highly recommended! 🐾🤎”

About: Greetings, pet parents! My passion for animals is matched only by my proven patience with nervous dogs. For almost 8 years, my own beloved, often anxious canine companion has been my greatest teacher, showing me just how much a gentle approach can transform their well-being. I also had two wonderful cats as family members for about 13 years, which truly deepened my appreciation for their unique personalities and needs. My career as a freelance prop maker provides me with a highly flexible and mobile schedule, which is a real advantage when it comes to pet sitting and dog walking. This availability means I can usually be there for your furry friend whenever they need me. Im available daily after 2pm for walkies. Check-in visit available daily. Boarding is also availabe. Fenced yard available. I also have a friendly dog to keep your fur baby company. Walkies will be on leash ALL the time. Daily photo update available upon request.
About: I have loved and cared for dogs my entire life. I grew up rescuing stray dogs and giving them a safe place, food and love. Over the years I have cared for many different breeds, from small playful dogs to large strong ones. I am calm, patient and attentive to every dog’s personality and needs. For me dogs are not just pets – they are family. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because I enjoy spending time with animals and being active outdoors. My schedule is flexible, which allows me to dedicate proper time and attention to each pet I care for. I am available for walks, drop-in visits, and pet sitting throughout the week, including mornings, afternoons, and evenings when needed. When I look after a pet, I make sure they receive enough exercise, attention, and companionship. I never rush walks and always adapt the time and activity to the dog’s needs and energy level. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness will always be my priority. I treat every dog as if it were my own. I always make sure pets are safe, comfortable, and properly supervised at all times. I pay close attention to their behavior, routines, and any instructions given by the owner so they feel secure and relaxed. Even though I live in an apartment, I make sure dogs receive plenty of outdoor time, exercise, and fresh air through regular walks and visits to nearby parks. I keep a calm and clean environment and always focus on building trust with both pets and their owners.

About: As a lifelong pet owner and animal lover, I’ve cared for dogs, cats, and many other pets throughout my life. I’m experienced with large breeds, can offer basic training support, and always take the time to understand each pet’s individual needs and personality. I treat every pet as if they were my own precious baby, providing plenty of love, attention, exercise, and companionship to help them feel right at home 🐾❤️ I have flexibility in my daily routine, I’m available mornings and evenings for walks, feeding, and care, and I plan my routine around the pets I look after. I live in a house with a secure, fully fenced garden where pets can safely enjoy time outdoors. I have a gentle, well-behaved dog who is calm and used to being around other animals. I always introduce pets carefully and make sure everyone feels comfortable and settled. Your pet will be treated like one of my own, with a safe, clean home environment and plenty of attention, care, and routine maintained throughout their stay. 🐾
“Josh has looked after our dog and puppy a few times now, he has been amazing with them and we always come back to happy doggos. Our puppy is still very young so is a handful but he has always attended to all her needs - we highly recommend him”

“Keyah was fantastic! She was really communicative and accommodating throughout, and took such great care of our dog, Rafferty. He clearly adored her! The house was spotless when we got back too. We’d definitely book with her again and highly recommend her to others.”

About: I have had family dogs since I was 7, looking after 2 large dog breeds. My childhood dog is now 14 so I have experience in senior dog care along with helping to train my younger dog when he was a puppy. I moved away last year and I’m missing having dogs around. I love looking after pets in general and walking dogs. I’m currently working shifts meaning I have lots of free time during the week. I currently have no pets or children so love the opportunity to get out and about walking dogs and pet sitting. I currently am living in a flat so am unable to house dogs. I am very flexible to follow whatever routine your pet is following.
“Izzie was fantastic. This was a super last minute booking, so very grateful that Izzie was able to jump in to save the day. Great communication and wonderful with our big, bouncy dog. Will definitely be using her for future bookings 😊”

“Crystal was fantastic, arrived on time as per our booking and Dylan was happy to see her again after meeting him in the week. We were away for approx 8 hours and Crystal kept us updated on how he was. She fed him his evening meal and when we got back although Dylan was happy to see us he didn’t make the usual fuss as he had company all day. Already booked Crystal for another stay, she’s great.”

About: My wife Livia and I have had dogs for our whole life, ever since we were kids. I am always any new dogs best friend and Livia understands them to such a deep level. We both love dogs and treat them as a member of the family. Our old dog Bailey (11) is also co-parent to our two kids (8 and 5) and they have grown up with a love for animals. Together we all love going on adventures! We feel absolutely confident we can help look after your furry friends. Honestly, we would want your dog to have a nice time with us and help you feel that they are being looked after as they should be. We both work part time from home so there is always someone in the house and around. The kids will be in school during school times so around most of the time. We already have our dog so we don't go on long trips without him and wouldn't anyway when looking after other animals. In our home, it would very much depend on what your dog(s) need. We are pretty adaptable and can move things around to suit. We have a routine of sorts with our dog Bailey around feeding and walking but some things are more flexible. Our house has some green areas around as I like to get some off lead time with Bailey when we go on walks - this can all be discussed. Bailey has his bed and you can obviously bring your dogs bed. The bed is somewhere that a dog can go if they want peace and quiet which will be respected. Obviously there are a million and other things that you may want to know! I am very happy for any questions.
About: I have lived with many dogs and cats throughout my life. I have trained and looked after neighbours dogs as well as cats. I have also volunteered for a couple years in a cattery helping looking after (indoor/outdoor) cats. I am currently working part time, however only work about 10 hours per week so I have plenty of time throughout the week to provide services and take care of your pet. I will familiarise myself to new locations/walks near your home and adapt to any preference that you may have during visits and walks. At first, I will keep dogs on lead as I still get to know them and they get to know me to keep them safe. Your pup would always be supervised, unless in a crate, pen or any other enclosed and secure environment. And I will take plenty of photos and update you on how your pet was.
“Our mini dachshunds had a great day with Jessica! They don't usually trust anyone other than us, they're uber sensitive which can be hard work sometimes. But we came home to two exhausted and calm pups. She sent us some brilliant pictures throughout the day and updates and it was very stress free for us :) Pippa and Clint had a fun filled day and are looking forward to seeing her again soon!”

Anna house sat and looked after my 2 flatcoated retrievers for 3 days and nights. When I returned they were calm, happy and well cared for. The house was also spotless and plants watered. She managed a pidgepn falling down the chimney without a qualm. I appreciated the daily updates and photos of the dogs while I was away. I can definitely recommend Anna as a dog sitter

This was our second time using Hollie, she is great with both our dogs and cats. Hollie's communication has been really good throughout and she sends lovely updates so we know all is well at home. The house was left clean and tidy and we would definitely not hesitate to use again. Thanks Hollie!

Alex and Steve were excellent carers to my 2 little shih tzus. I have never left my fur babies with anyone but family. Alex was very understanding and kept me fully up to date with pup dates. Sending me photographs of their day. My house was left immaculate, and all my instructions followed to the letter. I cannot praise Alex and Steve enough for putting my mind at rest and taking care of Hugo and Isla. On top of that, they looked after our fish and even took care of the garden, which we really appreciated. Overall, incredibly reliable, caring, and thorough we wouldn’t hesitate to book them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter.

Megan was a pleasure to have sit for Hercules, she came and met him, clearly loves our foot-footed friends, and it seemed mutual. I came home to a very happy dog and clearly well looked after house, what more could be asked for? Would happily rebook and recommend. :-)

Maja is the most delightful person! Maja has a very calming energy and our dogs, one of them being quite anxious, settled with her within minutes and loved her from the start. Maja sent updates about our dogs whilst we were away, responded to messages promptly, and is very easy to speak to. I will be recommending Maja to all of our friends and family, we will be booking with Maja again soon.

Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Basingstoke choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
