“Shelley looked after my two dogs in our home beautifully. We have a high energy spaniel and a highly needy sausage dog! She kept in touch with regular updates, pictures and videos and they seem extremely happy and well cared for on our return home! Our house was more tidy when we got home than when we left! Thank you so much Shelley for making our holiday completely stress free, we can’t recommend you highly enough ☺️🌟”

“It was great to meet Sandra & Ivor and our dogs and cats seemed to be very happy with Ivor house-sitting to look after them. Everything was left tidily in the house and all went smoothly. We were most grateful, especially as it was a fairly short notice booking. It was good to receive regular update photos and news whilst we were away.”

“We chose Anna as she has experience of large breeds, Shepherds in particular. Our Belgian Mali needs stimulation and Anna not only came up with new ways to keep him stimulated and entertained but she did this all in the very hot weather we had. Regular updates and pics showed Bodie having a great time. Anna also looked after my garden and allotment and kept the house clean and tidy. I highly recommend her services.”

“Very good with my nervous dog, took a couple of days for him to get used to her, but he was happy with her & sad to see her go when I got back! House was clean & tidy, update photos sent as I requested.”

About: I have been looking after families pets since I was young and have grown up with dogs of all sizes. I currently look after my sisters labradoodle puppy and my nans bocker (beagle cross cocker spaniel). I have also had and looked after ferrets before so have experience with other animals. I’m currently working part time, mainly evenings at the weekends so will have plenty of time to care for your beautiful pets! I am also quite flexible so please don’t be afraid to ask for anything you may need! I am afraid I am unable to do pet boarding but I love to make sure pets feel comfortable with me coming into their home. Ensuring they have interaction and play when they want it but also giving them space when they just want to chill is so important!
“This was our second time using Hollie, she is great with both our dogs and cats. Hollie's communication has been really good throughout and she sends lovely updates so we know all is well at home. The house was left clean and tidy and we would definitely not hesitate to use again. Thanks Hollie!”

“Very happy with Grace’s services. She dog/house sat for us for 2 weeks looking after our 3 dogs z Our pups were cared for during our time away, got nice long walks and seemed very content with Grace when we got back. The house was all in order and we would while heatedly recommend Grace.”

“Maja was brilliant! We have a rescue who can be very nervous and anxious around new people but Maja was so comforting and relaxed with her. She really put us at ease about leaving our dogs with her! Kept us updated daily about how they were getting on and even sent photos, which we really appreciated! Couldn’t haves asked for more, will definitely be requesting her services again!”

About: Greetings, pet parents! My passion for animals is matched only by my proven patience with nervous dogs. For almost 8 years, my own beloved, often anxious canine companion has been my greatest teacher, showing me just how much a gentle approach can transform their well-being. I also had two wonderful cats as family members for about 13 years, which truly deepened my appreciation for their unique personalities and needs. My career as a freelance prop maker provides me with a highly flexible and mobile schedule, which is a real advantage when it comes to pet sitting and dog walking. This availability means I can usually be there for your furry friend whenever they need me. Im available daily after 2pm for walkies. Check-in visit available daily. Boarding is also availabe. Fenced yard available. I also have a friendly dog to keep your fur baby company. Walkies will be on leash ALL the time. Daily photo update available upon request.
About: I have loved and cared for dogs my entire life. I grew up rescuing stray dogs and giving them a safe place, food and love. Over the years I have cared for many different breeds, from small playful dogs to large strong ones. I am calm, patient and attentive to every dog’s personality and needs. For me dogs are not just pets – they are family. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because I enjoy spending time with animals and being active outdoors. My schedule is flexible, which allows me to dedicate proper time and attention to each pet I care for. I am available for walks, drop-in visits, and pet sitting throughout the week, including mornings, afternoons, and evenings when needed. When I look after a pet, I make sure they receive enough exercise, attention, and companionship. I never rush walks and always adapt the time and activity to the dog’s needs and energy level. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness will always be my priority. I treat every dog as if it were my own. I always make sure pets are safe, comfortable, and properly supervised at all times. I pay close attention to their behavior, routines, and any instructions given by the owner so they feel secure and relaxed. Even though I live in an apartment, I make sure dogs receive plenty of outdoor time, exercise, and fresh air through regular walks and visits to nearby parks. I keep a calm and clean environment and always focus on building trust with both pets and their owners.

I have had experience with dogs of all sizes and I know exactly what I can handle. I am experienced with newborn puppies to senior dogs, and dogs with special needs. I can do basic coat maintenance through brushing and washing, and can give oral medicine if required. I am experienced with training dogs with positive reinforcement. I also know Basic Canine First Aid. Be assured that I will be in constant contact with you whilst I am responsible for your animal. I'm currently actively looking for work, so I have a lot more availability than usual. Services may be more limited when I am employed full time. We have a large, quiet home with a small enclosed backyard patio. We are a short walk away from Eastrop Park, which has lovely routes for dog walking. We are also near War Memorial Park which offers even more open space. Our home is safe for pets, and they will never be unsupervised. I have experience in Animal First Aid and I am Animal Care Level 3 Qualified. I am a dedicated communicator, you will always receive updates and pictures from me. If any issues arise, I will be prompt and sensible.
“Rachel has been a fab sitter for us, sitting our dogs two weekends in a row! She kept us up to date and gave us peace of mind! Our dogs seemed very happy when we returned home! Would definitely recommend!”

About: I have a rescue dog of my own called Womble. I found him in Kosovo, and a kitten called Gigi and we 3 lived in a brown bear sanctuary for 2 weeks together before I eventually got Womble home to the UK and Gigi found a home with a family in the mountains. I have lots of experience caring for cats and dogs, and wild animals too. I currently live in a flat so until I move into a house Womble is living with my parents in Bristol and I really miss animal company. I currently work 3 days in the office and 2 days from home and often have an evening or a day over the weekend free. My hours are flexible so perfect for taking an extra long lunch or finishing early for some pet sitting. I walk everywhere and love exploring the parks and green spaces where I live to get my steps in. My flat is calm with our neighbourhood being very quiet with cars rarely coming past. We don’t have a garden but lots of local parks and green spaces for a walk.
“Izzie was fantastic. This was a super last minute booking, so very grateful that Izzie was able to jump in to save the day. Great communication and wonderful with our big, bouncy dog. Will definitely be using her for future bookings 😊”

“Josh has looked after our dog and puppy a few times now, he has been amazing with them and we always come back to happy doggos. Our puppy is still very young so is a handful but he has always attended to all her needs - we highly recommend him”

About: Hi, I’m Aaron. I live in Washington Village in a clean, smoke & child free home, so it’s a calm environment for dogs. I’ve also got a secure, fenced back garden, which is great for safe outdoor time. I’ve spent years walking dogs at Brysons Animal Shelter on weekends, purely because I enjoy it. I’ve walked and spent time with all sorts of dogs, from high energy characters to the quieter ones that just need a bit of patience and reassurance. Dogs have always been part of my life too, my mam has a jack russel called Charlie and my sister has a lab called Sunny, so I’m used to being around them regularly. I work full time, so I only accept bookings around my time off. That means when your dog’s with me, they’ve got my full attention and won’t be left on their own. I like the flexibility Rover gives me to do this properly, rather than trying to fit it in around work. I’m reliable and easygoing, I’ll always follow your dog’s usual routine so things feel familiar for them. Whether that’s walks, playtime, or just some company and a relaxed space, I’ll make sure they’re comfortable and well looked after. I’ll keep you updated with photos and messages so you know how they’re getting on, and I’m always happy to have a quick chat if you need anything. More than anything, I just enjoy being around dogs, so yours will be treated with the same care and attention I’d want for my own. Happy to arrange a meet and greet beforehand so you can feel confident it’s the right fit! Drop me a message if you’d like to chat. I work full time and will look to host on my days off. I’m currently off work due to a shoulder nerve injury, so have more free time. My back garden is fenced, I live in a safe and quiet area of Washington Village. Even when in the back garden, your dog will never be left unattended.
“Leila was amazing! She got along with Lola, our cockapoo, straight away. She was very attentive to her needs and realised how Lola likes to play. She kept us informed all the time which I really appreciate. Overall great!”

I live in a house with a secure, fully fenced garden where pets can safely enjoy time outdoors. I have a gentle, well-behaved dog who is calm and used to being around other animals. Anna house sat and looked after my 2 flatcoated retrievers for 3 days and nights. When I returned they were calm, happy and well cared for. The house was also spotless and plants watered. She managed a pidgepn falling down the chimney without a qualm. I appreciated the daily updates and photos of the dogs while I was away. I can definitely recommend Anna as a dog sitter

Alex and Steve were excellent carers to my 2 little shih tzus. I have never left my fur babies with anyone but family. Alex was very understanding and kept me fully up to date with pup dates. Sending me photographs of their day. My house was left immaculate, and all my instructions followed to the letter. I cannot praise Alex and Steve enough for putting my mind at rest and taking care of Hugo and Isla. On top of that, they looked after our fish and even took care of the garden, which we really appreciated. Overall, incredibly reliable, caring, and thorough we wouldn’t hesitate to book them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter.

Megan was a pleasure to have sit for Hercules, she came and met him, clearly loves our foot-footed friends, and it seemed mutual. I came home to a very happy dog and clearly well looked after house, what more could be asked for? Would happily rebook and recommend. :-)

Maja is the most delightful person! Maja has a very calming energy and our dogs, one of them being quite anxious, settled with her within minutes and loved her from the start. I will be recommending Maja to all of our friends and family, we will be booking with Maja again soon.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Basingstoke walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Basingstoke choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
