“Alice took excellent care of our greyhound while we were at a wedding. She was calm, confident and after only a short meet and greet, Jim was really comfortable with her. Thanks again Alice!”

“Pavla has been amazing taking care of Kevin. He's happy, he's warm towards her and as soon as she left he went to smell the door and try to understand why she was going away. I've already have many other bookings planned with her, and looking forward to all of them. Thank you!”

“We would highly recommend Saskia, she is fantastic! Dobby really took an instant love for her, and he was certainly tired out from all the cuddles 🥰 Thank you for taking great care of our fur baby xx”

“Chenyan was a fabulous sitter! Prior to the sitting, Chenyan came over for a meet & greet with our sighthound (saluki-lurcher), asked lots of questions about Sybils needs, and they got on very well! You can tell Chenyan loves dogs, and having her own whippet meant she really understood the sighthound needs/requirements which was great! We've already booked Chenyan in again for a few weeks time, and we know Sybil will be in good hands!”

“We needed someone to house sit our two dogs Holly and Lulu over the weekend at very short notice. Rebecca was able to do this and arrived promptly on Saturday morning. She looked after our dogs very well sending us frequent updates and photographs which reassured us that the dogs were fine. We are happy to recommend Rebecca and hope to use her again sometime.”

“I had to book a sitter at short notice and lucky for us Sabina was free and able to look after Tam. She visited on Friday to meet him and ensure she knew his routine; Tam was very happy to meet her. Being a trainee vet nurse gave us confidence to leave Tam with her following his spinal surgery. Sabina arrived in plenty of time on Sunday, Tam was so happy to see her again. She even managed to encourage Tam to go for a walk which is unheard of when we go out. Sabina kept us updated during the day and we arrived home to a very happy boy. We have already lined her up for a couple of future bookings.”

“Rachael did a week of overnight cat sitter whilst we were away on holiday. We usually have family watch our cats but no one was free so we were obviously nervous to try someone new. However Rachael exceeded our expectations. The cats seemed really happy when we got home which is also a good sign that they’ve been well taken care of, and the house even looked more sparkling clean than we left it. She made sure to give us lots of updates and daily photos. Would recommend Rachael for sure!”

“Andy was so good with our dogs Oskar and Olive. Oskar is usually a bit wary of strangers, however Oskar immediately warmed to Andy. Andy stayed in our house with the dogs and was extremely attentive, not only to the dogs but also our house. I would highly recommend Andy to care for your dog.”

“Charlotte was great. Looking after my 2 labs for the afternoon. Even though I only booked her a few days before she took time to come round & meet the dogs prior to sitting. Additionally Charlotte sent me updates through the day. Would definitely recommend & use again”

“Hannah and Stuart were fantastic dog sitters for Teddy. Communication was great throughout, and Teddy clearly enjoyed their company. We felt at ease knowing he was being well looked after and would happily recommend them to others.”

“Our "usual" sitter was unable you come on this date, and so after an initial "meet and greet" we booked Lana. Lana was calm and friendly, and the dogs took to her, which was great. Lana kept me up to speed with walks, feeding etc, and we arrived home to happy dogs. Recommended.”

About: I've grown up with Border Collies, so high-energy breeds are right up my alley. Our dog Pero, featured in my profile, was raised from a puppy, giving me practical experience in caring for young dogs. Offering my services on Rover isn't just about helping you out; it's an opportunity to meet and care for your wonderful dogs, creating a positive experience for all involved! I work full-time but I'm more than willing to work remotely as I have that option 3 days a week - can flex it to a full week WFH and make up office days at another point in the month if needed! Ensuring your dog feels at ease, I'd maintain their routine with regular walks, meals, and playtime, as instructed by yourselves. Consistent communication and updates will keep you informed and reassured while you're away - unless you'd rather be left alone, in which case I'll provide just as many updates as you require! :)
“Just wonderful. Great communication with us, and our dog clearly felt Susie should come again as soon as possible! 😊 Thank you Susie, it means so much to us to have our dogs and home cared for so well.”

About: I own a large dog with epilepsy for nearly 14 years and have loved taking care of him. I understand that pets can feel stressed and nervous when their owners aren’t with them so I understand wanting to have someone look after them, or take them on long walks to give an enjoyable and fun experience. Although I don’t have much professional experience, I have looked after pets for family whenever I could. I’m currently taking a Dog Grooming course for a Level 3 Diploma and have recently completed my Pet First Aid course so I’m ready for an emergency should one occur. I’m available to pet sit on any day or night you wish. I’m also available to dog walk at any time whether it is early in the morning, or later in the evening! My pet is my top priority, and so is any other pet I look after so I always make sure they’re safe and well cared for (and spoiled). I’m trained in Pet First Aid so I am prepared for any emergencies
About: I’ve been caring for animals my whole life. While I don’t currently have dogs of my own, I’ve spent many years walking and helping care for dogs through my mum, who is a dog sitter. I’m calm, confident, and genuinely enjoy spending time with dogs, especially out on walks. Cats are my strongest experience. I’ve had cats all my life, from family pets to my own, and I currently have four. I’m very familiar with feeding routines, litter care, medications, and understanding different cat personalities. I’m reliable, attentive, and treat every pet with care and respect, following their usual routines so they feel safe and settled. I work from home, or anywhere with a decent wi-fi connection and can be happily distracted by dogs and cats! I would work around the needs of the specific pet and accommodate their needs as required. I would listen to, and follow all guidance / rules for the safety of your dog and/or cat in your house, garden and on walks as applicable.
“Gavin was amazing with our two boys . He looked after them brilliantly and sent pictures to put out minds at ease. Left our house spotless , you would never have known he was there . Our pooches took to him straight away because he took the time to greet them and let them get used to him . Would have him again in a flash !”

“Amy was great ! We came back home to a very relax cat. Boo enjoyed the company and I must say we found the house in pristine condition and baked homemade cookies for us !! We highly recommend Amy !”

“Aimee is a lovely girl , she came to meet Rosie a couple of weeks before to meet Rosie and then a week before she took her for a walk to get to know her. And on the day she sent us lots of pictures to show us how they were getting on. I will be definitely booking Amy again”

Gavin has looked after our two dogs on two separate occasions whilst we were away on holiday during June 2026. He took the time to meet the dogs before looking after them. Gavin is confident around the dogs, reliable and trustworthy and we wouldn’t hesitate recommending him to others. We hope to use his services again in the near future.

Chenyan was excellent house sitting Oskar!! The first time we had used a house sitter, but she made us feel really confident that she would (and did!) take great care of him. Updates were great, asked a lot of questions to make sure she knew exactly what to do and when we got back he was so happy and relaxed, which was great for us. Would totally recommend her to look after your pet.

Alex was perfect. Really friendly and accommodating with planning, very easy to talk to. She's obviously a real animal lover, Omelette is a bit of an awkward dog at the best of times but made fast friends with him and understood and dealt excellently with his reactivity issues. We got regular photos and updates and could see he was having a great time. On top of that Alex left the house completely spotless and put the wash on before she left which made a much softer landing for us coming back from holiday. I couldn't recommend Alex enough.

Anna is so lovely and super professional from the first minute we got in contact, and when Bear met her for the first time he ran up to her like he's known her for ages! I felt reassured that Bear was in safe and caring hands - Anna gave a good amount of updates and was always responsive. I'd recommend her to anyone!

Rebecca was amazing looking after our dog Cosmo and cat as well! She came round to meet before the booking which was a lovely touch, and our dog settled so well with her. It was lovely knowing he was in safe hands and not having to worry on our day out! Will definitely book with her again :)

Sydney looked after our two cats wonderfully well again. She’s very good at keeping us updated on them. This time one of them had got into a little bit of a fight and she noticed straight away and got in touch. A quick cleanup at the vets and he was fine the next day. Well done for being on top of it!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Wokingham walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wokingham choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 86% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
