“Saskia looked after our 2 Ragdolls for 3 days and 4 nights and did such a fantastic job! I was impressed from the offset when she arranged to meet them first, asked all the right questions and was clearly a cat lover. She looked after my flat as if it were her own and we not only came back to 2 very happy cats, but the flat was spotless too. She sent daily updates and was always contactable. Couldn’t have asked for a better cat sitter, felt very comfortable to leave Ralph & Ru in her hands. Will definitely be booking again!”

“Ed was a very proactive, kind, and thoughtful sitter for our two dogs and cat. He handled our dogs' quirks (leash reactivity) well and left our home spotless. The pets must have loved him because they were barely excited to see us! One of our pups Marcela isn't normally a cuddler but it was obvious from the photos that she loved and felt safe around Ed. I received daily updates on my trip with photos. Overall, he's agreat sitter and I highly recommend booking him.”

“Chenyan was a fabulous sitter! Prior to the sitting, Chenyan came over for a meet & greet with our sighthound (saluki-lurcher), asked lots of questions about Sybils needs, and they got on very well! You can tell Chenyan loves dogs, and having her own whippet meant she really understood the sighthound needs/requirements which was great! We've already booked Chenyan in again for a few weeks time, and we know Sybil will be in good hands!”

About: Dogs have always been a huge part of our lives. We’re a couple who grew up with breeds like Shih Tzus, German Shepherds, Pomeranians, and Japanese Spitz, so caring for dogs feels natural to us. We love giving dogs attention, affection, and gentle care tailored to their needs 🐾 Our home is right next to the Thames river walk, with plenty of green space and scenic paths for relaxed walks, playtime, and fresh air. We make sure every pup feels safe, happy, and cared for—just like they would at home 💕 We both have flexible work schedules and can work from home when needed, so we’re able to spend lots of time with your pets 🐶🐱 Weekends and weekdays after 2pm usually work best for boarding, but we’re always happy to chat and see what works for you. We do our best to be flexible and make sure your pet gets plenty of attention, care, and company throughout the day 💕 Your pet’s safety and comfort are our top priority 🐶🐱 Our home is calm, clean, and pet-friendly, with a fully fenced garden where dogs can safely go outside, play, and relax. We always supervise outdoor time and carefully follow each pet’s routine, feeding instructions, and any special needs. With nearby Thames river walks and plenty of safe green spaces, your pet will enjoy both secure outdoor time and a loving home environment 💕
“Bronwyn has been absolutely outstanding. She stepped in as an emergency when our youngest Chow Chow, Strider, tore his cruciate just before Christmas. She handled the challenges of managing two new dogs while meeting all the limitations and demands of Strider’s post-op care with incredible care. We especially appreciated the regular updates, which gave us such peace of mind. She recently did her first overnight sit for us while we attended a family birthday, and the boys had a fantastic time, ,they were totally relaxed and happy in her company. We’re so impressed that we’ve already booked her for a 10 day house sit during our upcoming family holiday. We couldn’t recommend Bronwyn more highly!”

About: I've grown up with Border Collies, so high-energy breeds are right up my alley. Our dog Pero, featured in my profile, was raised from a puppy, giving me practical experience in caring for young dogs. Offering my services on Rover isn't just about helping you out; it's an opportunity to meet and care for your wonderful dogs, creating a positive experience for all involved! I work full-time but I'm more than willing to work remotely as I have that option 3 days a week - can flex it to a full week WFH and make up office days at another point in the month if needed! Ensuring your dog feels at ease, I'd maintain their routine with regular walks, meals, and playtime, as instructed by yourselves. Consistent communication and updates will keep you informed and reassured while you're away - unless you'd rather be left alone, in which case I'll provide just as many updates as you require! :)
About: I’ve been caring for animals my whole life. While I don’t currently have dogs of my own, I’ve spent many years walking and helping care for dogs through my mum, who is a dog sitter. I’m calm, confident, and genuinely enjoy spending time with dogs, especially out on walks. Cats are my strongest experience. I’ve had cats all my life, from family pets to my own, and I currently have four. I’m very familiar with feeding routines, litter care, medications, and understanding different cat personalities. I’m reliable, attentive, and treat every pet with care and respect, following their usual routines so they feel safe and settled. I work from home, or anywhere with a decent wi-fi connection and can be happily distracted by dogs and cats! I would work around the needs of the specific pet and accommodate their needs as required. I would listen to, and follow all guidance / rules for the safety of your dog and/or cat in your house, garden and on walks as applicable.
“Aimee is a lovely girl , she came to meet Rosie a couple of weeks before to meet Rosie and then a week before she took her for a walk to get to know her. And on the day she sent us lots of pictures to show us how they were getting on. I will be definitely booking Amy again”

“Rosemary is an absolute dream. I couldn’t have asked for more and will definitely use her again. The house the spotless and dogs so well looked after and she kept me updated. Thank you Rosemary!!”

“Laura was brilliant - housesat for us & looked after our 5-year-old flatcoat retriever and our cat. She was really quick with communication & replies & kept us updated while we were away. She left the house in perfect order and was thoughtful and efficient about everything. A lovely person, great to deal with. Highly recommend & we will certainly use her again if we can.”

About: Previous pet owner for nearly 13 years. He was my best friend. Other than that have looking after friends and families pet’s. Animals are the most important thing to me. I just want to be surrounded by animals 24/7😊🫶🏻 Animals are my life!!🤍🫶🏻 Happy to answer any questions you may have - feel free to drop me a message. Thanks Megan 😊 XxX I’m being made redundant and want to spend my time doing what makes me happy! (Spending time with animals) sadly after loosing my best friend (dog) at the end of 2024, I have had a massive hole in my heart. I would treat it as my own home/ pet. I put animals first even before me. So they will be top priority in any situation.
About: I’ve been caring for animals since I was young, and over the past 10 years I’ve gained experience with all kinds of pets — from guinea pigs and hamsters to cats and dogs. My family currently has five dogs, so daily pet care is a big part of my life. I’ve also supported two litters of puppies, each with five little ones, which taught me a lot about patience, gentleness, and routine. I have a soft spot for French Bulldogs and understand their unique needs. I truly love being around animals and treat every pet with the same care and attention I give my own. I work full‑time within the NHS on a three‑day schedule, which gives me four days each week dedicated to dog walking. This flexibility allows me to offer reliable availability and plenty of time for longer walks, regular exercise, and consistent routines. Whether your dog needs a calm stroll, a bit of extra energy release, or steady weekly walks, I make sure every outing is safe, enjoyable, and suited to their personality. I live in a comfortable flat just a short walk from a lovely local park, which makes it easy to give dogs plenty of outdoor time and regular walks. Inside my home, I keep a calm, clean, and safe environment where pets can relax and feel secure. I make sure they have a cosy space to settle, fresh water available at all times, and lots of attention throughout the day. Because the park is so close, I’m able to take dogs out frequently for exercise, toilet breaks, and playtime, which helps them stay happy and relaxed during their stay. Whether it’s a gentle stroll or a more energetic walk, I tailor the routine to each dog’s needs so they feel comfortable and well cared for in my home.

“Meg and Sam took good care of Kaloo during our 3 day trip and provided prompt responses to our messages/calls. The house was clean and well maintained when we were back. We would definitely use them again.”

If your dog is crate trained, I can accommodate that as well.

“Our "usual" sitter was unable you come on this date, and so after an initial "meet and greet" we booked Lana. Lana was calm and friendly, and the dogs took to her, which was great. Lana kept me up to speed with walks, feeding etc, and we arrived home to happy dogs. Recommended.”

I bring a calm, highly attentive, and reliable energy to dog sitting, and I am strict about following your exact walking and feeding routines. About: I grew up with English Pointers, so caring for dogs has always been a part of my life. Since then, I've regularly looked after dogs for friends and family, caring for everything from energetic puppies to senior dogs. I'm a calm and patient person, which has helped me build trust with nervous or reactive dogs. I also live with cats, so I'm confident caring for feline friends too. I'm happy to send regular photo and video updates so you can enjoy your time away knowing your pet is happy and well cared for. Whether they love long adventures outdoors or a quiet evening on the sofa, I'll make sure they receive the care, companionship and attention they deserve.

Saskia is an absolutely wonderful dog sitter. We could not have asked for more she was amazing with our three dogs - our house was doing it's best to imitate an oven and she took such good care of them. All three of them took to her immediately. We will definitely ask Saskia to sit for us again 🤞🏻 she'll say yes.

Mary was such a fantastic cat and house sitter! She looked after our deaf cat Blade beautifully for three nights, and was so gentle, kind and caring. She sent the cutest updates of Blade and gorgeous photos. Our home was perfect when we came back and Blade looked super happy and relaxed, we really couldn’t have asked for more! We wouldn’t hesitate to book Mary again :)

Ivory was fantastic with our little dogs. It was our first time using a dog sitter and she made us feel very comfortable sending lots of photos and updates that really helped us to enjoy our holiday, knowing they were happy and well looked after. We will definitely use Ivory again. I think the dogs still miss her ! X

Chloe was amazing. I was in a strange position with one of my cats having escaped and trying to lure her back home. Chloe took this as a challenge and succeeded! She understood how worried I was and really made me feel like my other cat was on safe hands as she wrangler the other. Highly recommend

Florina has cat sitted for us a few times now. She's great with the cats and gives us plenty of updates on how they are doing. They are shy cats but are definitely coming out of their shell around her. She didn't mind that I left a lot of instructions and seems un-phased if the cat does something naughty. Also a very respecful guest in our home. Definitely recommend her :)

Deeya was on time and fully prepared to look after our dogs after our earlier meet and greet. The dogs were very happy in her company and she easily made friends with them (and us!). The dogs are fairly easy to look after, but Deeya discovered one of them had picked up something in the garden, possibly a chicken bone, and removed it without fuss - not easy with our two. Well done Deeya, see you again.

We can highly recommend Ieva as a housesitter for your pets. Ieva looked after our two dogs Lulu and Holly whilst we were away on holiday for a week in April 2026. Ieva arranged a pre-visit to meet us and our dogs before the house sitting which reassured us that they would be looked after well. Whilst on holiday we received regular updates with photos and when we returned home everything was left clean and tidy and the dogs were relaxed and happy. We hope to be able to use Ieva's housesitting services again the next time we go on holiday.

Lia was great watching our dog Maya whilst we were away on a city break. She kept us informed daily with photos and understood Maya’s particular needs. She left the house spotless and even took the sheets off the bed!! Would love to have Lia watch Maya again any day.

We highly recommend Rhea!! We went on our honeymoon for 7 nights and Rhea immediately put us at ease. Rhea took care of both our home and our Daschund and Chihuahua caring for both of their needs. We received regular updates and pictures showing our 2 happy boys during walks or chilling at home. We have come home to a lovely clean house and 2 happy boys. If you are looking for a highly reliable pet sitter who cares choose Rhea!!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Reading walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Reading choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 91% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
