Ed was a very proactive, kind, and thoughtful sitter for our two dogs and cat. He handled our dogs' quirks (leash reactivity) well and left our home spotless. The pets must have loved him because they were barely excited to see us! One of our pups Marcela isn't normally a cuddler but it was obvious from the photos that she loved and felt safe around Ed. I received daily updates on my trip with photos. Overall, he's agreat sitter and I highly recommend booking him.

Bronwyn did look after our 4 dogs and a cat! Two of my dogs are rescues who tend to take their time with new people... yet when Bronwyn first came to meet the gang... both approached her straight away and asked for attention. She has an amazing way with animals. Her calm and kind approach is very quickly sensed by the dogs. We have never been away from the pack but we didn't worry once whilst Bronwyn was pet sitting them for just over a week. We came back to clean house. We had updates through our time away. We will definitely be using Bronwyn's pet sitting services again! Thank you Bronwyn!

About: Dogs have always been a big part of our lives, and we've grown up with breeds including Shih Tzus, German Shepherds, Pomeranians, and Japanese Spitz. We are aiming to provide loving, attentive care and tailor our routine to each dog's needs 🐾 Our home is right next to the Thames river path, with plenty of green space for walks, playtime, and fresh air. We both have flexible work schedules and can work from home when needed, so we’re able to spend lots of time with your pets 🐶🐱 Weekends and weekdays after 2pm usually work best for boarding, but we’re always happy to chat and see what works for you. We do our best to be flexible and make sure your pet gets plenty of attention, care, and company throughout the day 💕 Your pet’s safety and comfort are our top priority 🐶🐱 Our home is calm, clean, and pet-friendly, with a fully fenced garden where dogs can safely go outside, play, and relax. We always supervise outdoor time and carefully follow each pet’s routine, feeding instructions, and any special needs. With nearby Thames river walks and plenty of safe green spaces, your pet will enjoy both secure outdoor time and a loving home environment 💕

About: We love all sorts of animals - dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters. We want to provide a home from home service for other peoples animals. Either my partner or I are at home 24 hrs a day. The dog would be with us always and treated as if it was our own. That is the one thing that has put us off going away before is leaving our pet in a kennel or with other people - we want you to know that we adore animals and are constantly helping friends and family with their dogs. Live in a house - fenced garden not on a busy road. Drive so happy to do regular drop ins or walks for your animal.

About: Hi I’m Megan, I’m 27 and I’m a reliable and caring animal lover offering pet sitting in your own home, so your pets can stay comfortable in familiar surroundings while you’re away. I have four cats of my own and plenty of hands on experience caring for both cats and dogs. I regularly look after friends’ and family members’ pets, giving me experience with a wide range of personalities, breeds and ages, from energetic puppies to senior dogs who need a slower pace and extra care. I work Monday to Friday in a role that allows me to split my time between working from home and being in the office. This means I can offer flexibility depending on your pet’s needs and provide plenty of companionship, particularly on the days I’m working from home. I’m happy to provide feeding, fresh water, walks, playtime, companionship, administering routine medication if required, litter tray cleaning and regular updates with photos for your peace of mind. I understand that every pet has their own routine, and I’ll always do my best to stick to it so they feel safe, happy and well cared for. Whether you’re away for a day, a weekend or longer, I’ll treat your pets with the same love and attention I give my own. I work Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm, with a mix of office and home working. This means I’m available before and after work every day, all weekend, and I also have flexibility during the week when I’m working from home. I can provide morning and evening visits, overnight stays (where agreed), weekend care, and some daytime visits depending on my work schedule. I’ll always make sure your pet receives plenty of care, attention, exercise, and companionship. I have four cats of my own, so looking after animals is a big part of my everyday life. I’ve also looked after dogs and cats for family and friends, so I’m used to different routines and personalities. When I’m caring for someone’s pet, I stick to their usual routine as much as possible, whether that’s feeding, walks, playtime, or just keeping them company. I know every pet is different, so I’m happy to follow any instructions to make sure they feel comfortable and settled. I’ll also keep you updated with messages and photos, so you know they’re happy and being well looked after.

Honestly, the best dog sitting experience - 10/10 no notes. Part of me doesn’t want to write a review incase everyone starts booking Carolina. Caro looked after Sophie for the week at late notice whilst I was away with work and took care of her like she was her own. Loads of photos and videos supplied of dog walks and cuddles, I can tell she had the best time.

Safe to say this was a 10/10 success with a very happy dog! Mary kept our schedule so Rigsby had complete consistency and kept me frequently updated. I couldn’t recommend Mary enough!

Communication was great throughout, and she kept me updated while I was away. She took wonderful care of my three cats and also made sure all of my plants were watered during the hot weather. When I returned home, everything was clean, tidy, and exactly as I had left it. Viktoriiia is reliable, caring, and conscientious. Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Reading on Rover is £40.25 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 10,448 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Reading. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Reading walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Reading choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 91% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
