Thank you so much Lauren. Super responsive from the moment we requested a booking at short notice. Could instantly tell the pets were comfortable with you and that you would find a way to give all 3 attention. Returned the house clean and tidy which is much appreciated and the pets all seem very happy now we’re back. Thanks again - a pleasure to deal with - will definitely book again when the time comes 🙏🙏🙏

Alice is always on time and sends us a picture of our pup. We’re very comfortable with her sitting for us if we’re away or if we just need her to pop in for a dog walk. Would recommend!

I would highly recommend Jodie. She was very communicative and bonded well with my elderly dog (15). She kept me informed regularly including photos and left the house in a very good condition - clean and tidy. She appeared to be very responsive to my dog's needs and I returned to a happy dog. I have rebooked for my next trip away.

We had a really excellent experience with Francesca today. She was calm and friendly with our nervous rescue Molly who then settled very quickly. We received regular updates after we left and Francesca was conscientious in keeping her entertained with games while we were gone. We will absolutely book her again and recommend that others do too!

Kaye has looked after my two woofers for the past week and has done an amazing job. She has gone over and above by doing training with them, playing with them to wear the puppy out and kept the house clean and tidy. We will all miss her. Thanks Kaye

Angela was the perfect house and dog sitter. Our puppy was just a year old, full of energy and mischief! Angela took her for lovely long walks, kept her entertained and cuddled up together in the evenings. It gave us peace of mind that Berry was safe, happy and loved. We will be booking with Angela again when we go away.

Sophie is calm, caring and considerate and looked after our cocker spaniel over a weekend. She was respectful of our house and Nevis enjoyed her company. We returned home to a very relaxed dog. We are so pleased to have found her and have already booked her for our holiday in September.

About: I have experience caring for dogs and other pets for friends and family, including feeding, walking, playing with them and keeping them company while their owners are away. I’m reliable, patient and attentive, and I understand how important it is to follow each pet’s individual routine and make sure they feel comfortable and safe. I’m also respectful and responsible when staying in someone else’s home and will keep owners updated while they’re away I currently have a flexible schedule, which gives me plenty of time to care for pets throughout the week. I’m available for house sitting, including overnight stays, as well as drop-in visits. I’m happy to work around each pet’s usual routine, including feeding times, walks, playtime and companionship. When caring for pets in their owner’s home, I will always follow their normal routine and any instructions provided. I’ll make sure pets are fed, exercised and given plenty of attention while keeping their environment clean, comfortable and secure. I’m respectful of other people’s homes and will keep owners updated so they can feel reassured that their pets and home are being well looked after.

Ines was punctual, calm, and cool. She has a presence that is grounding for animals and humans alike - Nuka was quickly at ease and physically comfortable with her. They walked, played, and I got lovely pictures of Nuka fast asleep on the couch. Highly recommended.

She was such a caring, friendly presence, and an excellent communicator. I’d recommend her without hesitation. The dogs loved her. I can’t thank her enough x x x

About: I have lots of hands-on experience caring for dogs, including looking after dogs as part of my nannying roles. This has involved feeding, walking, playing with and keeping dogs company, as well as following their individual routines and needs. I also have my own cockapoo, Poppy (5), who I regularly care for at home. She's very much a velcro dog and would love to have cuddles all day! I'm super sporty though, so would also love a more energetic dog to do long walks and adventures with! I'm responsible, reliable and very attentive to animals' needs. As I'm currently at university, Poppy doesn't live with me, meaning your dog would be the only dog in my home! I have a lovely garden, huge living area and my own car, so I can easily accommodate walks and plenty of outdoor time! I'd love to give your dog a safe, happy and loving home-from-home! 🐾 Pet care fits really easily around my routine! I’m a university student, with my lectures primarily in the mornings, but they’re all available online, meaning I can work from home and your pup won’t be left alone while I’m studying. Alongside university, I work at a pub and do babysitting, both of which are very flexible. Unless I already have another commitment booked, I’m usually completely free and can be flexible around your dog’s routine and needs. I’d always recommend messaging in advance where possible, but I’m also very happy to consider last-minute requests and will do my best to make it work! 🐾 In my home 🏡🐾 I have a fully secure, mid-sized back garden and would love to take your dog on plenty of walks. For longer stays, I’d even be happy to drive to a lovely country park for a change of scenery and an extra adventure! Unless your dog is crate trained and prefers their own space, I’m more than happy for them to sleep in my room, whether that’s on their own bed on the floor or even on my bed if that’s what they’re used to. I want them to feel as comfortable and at home as possible! In your home 🏠 I have lots of experience working in other people’s homes through nannying, so I’m very comfortable adapting to your home and your dog’s usual routine. I’ll follow any instructions you leave carefully, make sure your dog’s routine is maintained and ensure your home is left clean, tidy and secure. Ultimately, I’ll treat your home and your dog with the same care and respect I would my own! 🐶

Madison was fantastic! She kindly agreed to look after my dog, River, on fairly short notice and stayed at my house while I was away. River had such a great time with her – it was clear she was well cared for and given lots of attention. She also left my home lovely and clean and well looked after, which was such a thoughtful touch to come back to. I’d definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter, and I’d be happy to book with her again!

About: We have been looking after pets for 20+ years. From my first puppy, Muffin, when I was 10 to looking after friends and family’s dogs simply because we love them. We have got extensive experience looking after multiple breeds. I work from home so I am around at all times of day to look after your dog. We are also available at weekends and during school holidays. We have multiple closed off spaces so your pet can have their own space when they want/need it if we are looking after more than one dog at a time. We have a few dogs that we frequently look after, so your dog will quickly become friends with them - coming to our house is like meeting up with all their friends (they get so excited to see each other). We have a safe and enclosed medium sized garden, and are surrounded by miles and miles of fields so there is plenty of space for your dog to play.

Nicola did a wonderful job looking after Rasmus the cat and taking care of our house, the plants, etc. I would recommend her without reservation to anyone looking for pet sitters and/or house sitting. Not only did she look after our cat and the house beautifully, she went above and beyond, dealing with extra issues that came up along the way and even thinking of asking us if we needed anything like milk and bread for our return. She left the house spotless for us which was absolutely lovely to come back to. During our absence, she kept me posted with pictures and videos and we all noticed how happy Rasmus looked--he obviously adores Nicola! We would be delighted to have Nicola permanently as our cat/house sitter and really hope she will come back next time.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in South Oxfordshire on Rover is £36.23 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 2,611 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across South Oxfordshire. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred South Oxfordshire walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Oxfordshire choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
