Francesca was so helpful on a recent trip that went awry because of conflict in the Middle East. Before travelling she took the time to visit and familiarise herself with local walks and to get to know our dogs needs. When our travel plans were disrupted she was incredibly flexible and provided looked after our two dogs for a few impromptu day trips. She is caring and conscientious and fun. We would not hesitate to recommend her.

I would highly recommend Jodie. She was very communicative and bonded well with my elderly dog (15). She kept me informed regularly including photos and left the house in a very good condition - clean and tidy. She appeared to be very responsive to my dog's needs and I returned to a happy dog. I have rebooked for my next trip away.

About: I have spent my entire life surrounded by animals, which has given me a deep understanding of pet behaviour across what I like to call both ends of the spectrum. Growing up, my family welcomed a rescue Border Collie into our home, which taught me so much about patience, high-energy breeds, and earning a dog's trust. Later, we raised a German Shepherd from a tiny puppy all the way through to her beautiful senior years before she crossed the rainbow bridge. Navigating that full lifecycle gave me invaluable experience with everything from puppy socialisation to gentle, specialised senior care. Today, my home is happily run by my three miniature Dachshunds and one very independent senior cat. Managing a pack of small dogs means I am well-versed in the unique quirks (and big personalities) of smaller breeds, while my senior kitty ensures I know exactly how to respect a cat's boundaries and keep them feeling safe and pampered. Whether your pet is a big bundle of energy or a gentle soul who just wants to snooze on the sofa, I have the lifetime of experience needed to make them feel safe and comfortable. As a self-employed individual who works entirely remotely, pet care fits seamlessly into my daily routine! Because my office is just my laptop, I am incredibly flexible with my days and times. For house sitting bookings, I can easily set up my workspace right from your home, meaning your pets will have consistent companionship, toilet breaks, and attention throughout the day rather than being left alone for long stretches. For drop-ins, my schedule allows me to easily step away to check on your pets exactly when they need me. As long as we coordinate with enough advance notice to plan my week, I can easily accommodate your pet's specific routine. Because I provide care exclusively in the pet owner's home, safety and trust are my absolute top priorities. I treat every home I visit with the utmost respect, keeping it clean, secure, and locked up tight. When it comes to your pets, my years of experience have made me highly proactive about safety: Double checking doors & gates: As a Dachshund owner, I know how sneaky small dogs can be and how quickly they can slip through an open door or a loose fence. I am incredibly vigilant about securing entryways and gates before letting any pet out. Routine & health monitoring: Caring for a 17y/o senior cat means I am highly observant. I carefully monitor food and water intake, bathroom habits, and overall body language to catch any subtle signs of stress or discomfort early. Medication & safety protocols: I follow all medication and feeding instructions to the letter, ensuring schedules are strictly maintained. Emergency preparedness: Before you leave, I always make sure we have a clear plan in place, including your preferred vet's information, emergency contacts, and your pet’s favourite hiding spots. I also love sending regular photo and text updates so you can see firsthand that your pets are safe, relaxed, and happy in their own environment!

Definitely 5* for Kay. She was fabulous. We have one older particularly needy dog and she was amazing with her ensuring her needs were met and she took all her meds and ate her food. She took both dogs on regular walks and played with them both for many hours. The house was kept spotless and cleaner than when we left. We had regular updates and photos which was great. We have rebooked Kaye for another holiday and feel so confident in leaving the dogs and our home in her care. Thank you

Liis is a wonderful house sitter. She came and met out two cats at the house and kept in contact with us before and during her stay. She is professional, calm and relaxed and most importantly the cats clearly love being with her. I did not worry about the house or the cats while I was away I had complete peace of mind. Which allowed me to have a rare break away. Thank you Liis!

About: I’ve looked after pets for over 3 years now, I am currently on “Trusted House Sitters” and have multiple 5 star reviews to show how capable and flexible I can be. I work fully remote so you’ll know your pets always have company and quality time with myself. I can do as little as 1 day or as long as 2/3 weeks at a time, I’m now looking to try Rover to be able to do this more full time. I currently work fully remote full time so will always be available to care for your pets needs whether that’s going a on a midday walk, making sure they’re fed on time and especially to help with any medication at a specific time. I have years of experience looking after all sorts of animals and will always be there to ask questions and send photos of the great times we’ll have together! I currently live at home with 2 cats and a sausage dog so have the experience to keep the peace with them all running around. As you know Dachshunds are one of the most stubborn breeds so if I can look after Dougie, I’m sure I can handle everything!

About: I had a dog (a Samoyed!) in my childhood through to teen hood, and have been around dogs basically my whole life via friends and family pets and volunteering. I have also had a dog, rabbits, budgies, fish, crabs, and hamsters throughout my life. Moreover, I have pet sit dogs, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, fish, guinea pigs, and a bearded dragon. I have done pet sitting on and off for the last 10 years, starting when I used to live in Thailand, and then when I moved back to England years ago, mainly for people who were away for days or weeks at a time, and I have enjoyed every minute. I have previously also been a volunteer dog walk for a local sanctuary. I can deal with giving medication (but must be spoken about and agreed prior to booking), as my cat has a thyroid issue and needs daily medication, along with the routine worming tablets etc. I will love your pet as my own and give them the absolute best care. I look forward to meeting your pets! I'm currently a free agent, looking to build up a a pet-sitting business, alongside a movement and wellness business, so have plenty of time and attention to give your pets. I will love your pet like it's my own, giving it attention when needed but also appreciating it may need some quiet time, just like we all do! You tell me it's daily schedule and I will adhere to stick to it as best as possible.

We were a little apprehensive because we had never left Bernard with a house sitter before. We need not have worried! Margarita and Bernard got on well together from the beginning. We got regular updates and photos and it was clear they were enjoying their time together. When we returned the house was just as we left it. I have no hesitation in recommending Margarita.

About: Although I’m new to Rover, I’ve always had a genuine love for animals and feel very comfortable caring for them. I’ve spent time looking after pets for friends and family, including feeding, walking, and making sure they feel safe and happy while their owners are away. I’m confident handling dogs of different sizes and personalities, and I’m happy to follow any routines or specific instructions to make sure your pet feels at ease. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your pet, so I’ll always provide updates, photos, and make sure they get plenty of attention and care. I’m reliable, patient, and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals, whether that’s going on walks, playing, or just keeping them company. I’m currently working full time from Monday - Friday however I wake up really early and on the weekends I am completely free and enjoy going on very long walks Your pet’s safety and wellbeing are always my top priority. I take the time to understand each pet’s routine, needs, and personality so I can provide care that feels familiar and comfortable for them. I’m very attentive when out on walks, making sure dogs are kept on lead where needed and always in safe, suitable environments. I’m mindful of other dogs, traffic, and surroundings to ensure every walk is both enjoyable and secure.

About: Hi, I’m Jako. I am a responsible, loving parent based in Oxford with a deep passion for animals. Because I have children, I understand exactly what it means to trust someone with a loved one. I treat every dog I care for with the same level of patience, safety, and attention to detail that I do my own family. Whether it’s sticking to a strict feeding schedule or knowing exactly how to handle a sudden burst of energy, I am calm, capable, and ready to help. For me, dogs are the ultimate stress-busters. In a busy world, I love how dogs remind us to slow down and enjoy the simple things, a walk in the fresh air, a game of fetch, or a quiet cuddle on the sofa. I love their honesty and their unconditional love. Spending time with dogs brings a genuine smile to my face; their excitement is contagious, and I find their company incredibly therapeutic. As a parent, my life runs on a solid routine. After the morning school drop-off, I have dedicated hours free for long walks and play. I am up early and active all day, meaning I can stick to your pet's feeding and walking schedule perfectly without ever missing a beat. As a parent, my home is secure, child-proofed, and safe. I provide constant supervision in a loving family environment, strictly following your rules and routine.

About: I have owned pets, including dogs all my life. I have walked neighbours dogs regularly in the past and worked for a home-from-home boarding business. I have also spent time volunteering at Hollyhedge Animal sanctuary walking dogs and ‘cuddling’ cats. I am a responsible individual and have extensive knowledge on dog behaviours and pet nutrition. I am flexible for some one-off walks, visits and sits or to arrange something more regular. All breeds and species considered, but I have most experience with spaniels and other gun dog breeds. Walk length and location can be tailored to your dog and their needs. Pricing can be flexible also. Contact me to discuss details further! I have just finished a Master’s degree and am now job searching for a conservation-based job. I have plenty of free time for pet walking and sitting. I am happy to follow your guidance for preferences on walking and sitting schedules. I am currently unable to board dogs in my own home

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in South Oxfordshire on Rover is £40.25 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of June 2026, there are 2,514 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across South Oxfordshire. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred South Oxfordshire walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Oxfordshire choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
