“Our pooch had the very best time with Suki, and we had complete peace of mind knowing she was in such good hands! We have 100% confidence that Suki provides the absolute best care. Our dog can be really nervous meeting new people and especially unsure in new surroundings, but Suki patiently took everything at the right pace, which allowed her to build a trusted connection with our dog very quickly.”

“Gatsby had an amazing weekend with Alysha and family. A wonderful family: caring and thoughtful, as well as flexible and plenty of communication. Hope to use these wonderful sitters again!”

“Laura looked after our 8 month old lurcher for two weeks whilst we were on holiday. She was brilliant with him and kept us updated regularly. She clearly has alot of experience and was able to continue puppy training - for example cat desensitisation! We will def use her again.”

“Jo has just looked after our 2 little dogs for 3 nights at short notice. She kept us updated regularly with photos and our little ones absolutely loved her! We shall certainly be using Jo again.Thankyou Jo🤗”

“Anna and Izzi have been absolutely wonderful with Rosie. They took such kind and attentive care of her, and it’s clear how much they genuinely enjoy having her around. I loved seeing how they took her to different places and gave her little adventures, it really means a lot. They never left her alone and kept me reassured throughout, which made a huge difference. I felt completely at ease and was able to relax while travelling, knowing Rosie was in such safe and caring hands. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone, and I’d be very happy for Rosie to stay with them again.”

“Julian and his family took amazing care of my dog Bixie. Asked many questions to really understand how to make him as comfortable as possible and ensure he was well loved whilst in their care. I would highly recommend Julian and Emma and will certainly be returning with Bixie when the time comes. Your pet will be well loved!”

“Teddy had the BEST stay with Anna. I knew I could relax and enjoy our holiday which was such a nice feeling as I don’t often leave him. He has been sulking since I picked him up! Anna really knows her stuff -highly, highly recommend.”

“Jenny, Andrew and Flynn have been so very kind and caring towards our 2 dogs. One is a faddy eater and the other very anxious. We received plenty of photos showing that the dogs were totally relaxed and having a wonderful time. They will look forward to their next stay with plenty of exercise and play! Thank you very much, Julie”
“Rebecca thankfully accepted our dogs stay at short notice. She was so lovely! Very communicative and sent lots of photos. She also didn't bat an eyelid when I picked my boy up a bit worse for wear after a weekend wedding 🙈 or when Cass rolled in cow poo and she had to bath him! We will definitely re book next time we need to go away. Thank you Rebecca and Josh 😊”

Our miniature dachshund had the best time with Mila and her family ! Mila is very experienced, thoughtful and gentle, and her home is well set up for canine guests. This was our first time of leaving our dog for the night and we couldn’t have been happier with the result. We will definitely be leaving Cosi with Mila again. Thank you Mila !!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
