“Myrtle's first day board ahead of some overnight stays. Suki and Lee are great hosts and provided a safe, comfortable and enjoyable environment for our little madam. Highly recommend.”

“Once again, our dog had such an amazing stay with Rebecca she hardly wanted to come home at the end of her stay! As always huge thanks for taking such good care of her and for being so relaxed about our much later than planned arrival 🙏”

“Our one year old dog Basil had a wonderful time at Terence’s farm. It was the first time he’s ever spent time away from us so we were conscious to make sure he would be well looked after and in a happy environment, and after visiting Terence’s place we knew it would be a great fit. Terence sent us some lovely videos of Basil having a wonderful time playing with other dogs and splashing in the river which really put our minds at ease. When we went to pick Basil up he was really happy so had obviously had a wonderful time. We will definitely be booking Basil to stay again in the future, thanks so much Terence!”

“I fully recommend this lovely family to look after your dog. I was so confident that Roxy was in the safest of hands and I think she had a better holiday than I did. It's a good sign that on our return from over 2 weeks away, after saying a warm hello to myself and my wife, she ran back in the house and I honestly think she wouldn't have minded if we turned around and went away again 😂. Look no further if you want a the best loving and professional care of your pet.”

“Lottie loved being with Jenny and her family. She got lots of amazing walks and settled in really quickly…. Could tell by the snoozing photo! Jenny kept us up to date with Lotties day and everything went very smoothly. Jenny is our go to dog sitter now. Trust her completely. Thank you.”

“Anna and Izzi have been absolutely wonderful with Rosie. They took such kind and attentive care of her, and it’s clear how much they genuinely enjoy having her around. I loved seeing how they took her to different places and gave her little adventures, it really means a lot. They never left her alone and kept me reassured throughout, which made a huge difference. I felt completely at ease and was able to relax while travelling, knowing Rosie was in such safe and caring hands. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone, and I’d be very happy for Rosie to stay with them again.”

Thanks Emily!!”

“We had been using the same sitter since my dog as a puppy, he’s now 11. So was rather anxious to leave our dog with someone new. Sally was so reassuring and confident that it put my mind at ease. He settled in well and I could relax knowing that he was being well looked after. Thank you Sally.”

Mandi is such a fantastic dog whisperer! She went so far above and beyond for our dog Summer, who came back happy, better trained and smelling beautiful! This isn’t just work to Mandi, she very clearly adores dogs and understands them intimately. She was also a very welcoming host to me and my children, nothing was rushed and she took the time to know Summer and then to transfer care back to us - showing us her new tricks, giving us recommendations and even sharing a song about Summer! The (p)updates were also remarkable. So much detail about Summer’s fun days, the treats and exercise she’d had, new friends she had made, etc. all presented in such a fun way made it an absolute delight. She melted away all of my worries about leaving our precious pet instantly, and I have no doubt Summer will be back to see Mandi again soon! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone! So far above my expectations, I’d give more than 5 stars if I could! My children dubbed her the Fairy Dogmother!

Our miniature dachshund had the best time with Mila and her family ! Mila is very experienced, thoughtful and gentle, and her home is well set up for canine guests. This was our first time of leaving our dog for the night and we couldn’t have been happier with the result. We will definitely be leaving Cosi with Mila again. Thank you Mila !!

- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
