“Monica is a lovely, caring lady and looked after Elsa over night for me. Great communication, and Elsa enjoyed her stay. Can recommend and will trust Monica for another time.”

“We feel so lucky to have found Eleanor and Raymond. Our dog Bear had a short stay with them and they took exceptional care of him. We knew he was in the best of hands. We received regular photos and updates and you could tell he had become a member of the family. Everything about booking with Eleanor is 5 star - the communication, organisation, friendliness and care. Thank you!”

“Lynn and her partner were absolutely fantastic with Mia and made me feel completely at ease. Their home is lovely, with a great-sized garden and really nice walks nearby. They also have the most adorable dog. Mia was made to feel right at home she didn’t want to leave! I would highly recommend them and will definitely be using them again.”

“David was brilliant. He is a real natural with dogs. Juno was very happy with him, he followed her routines and he kept me well informed. I highly recommend him and will definitely use him again.”

“Milo had a ball - he loved playing with Charlie and seemed very happy with Sandra. Sandra was very responsive and sent a couple of videos during the day - thank you Sandra, hope to see you again soon”

“Jenny looked after our Cavalier, Freddie, so beautifully. Lots of lovely walks, and cuddles. Jenny really loves and understands dogs and knows how look after them. She followed through on all the feeding and care guidelines we left her and made sure she handed everything back at the end (food, bed etc). Freddie came back well exercised and cared for, and also beautifully groomed, which was an unexpected but very nice bonus!”

“Ellie is so lovely and an amazing dog sitter — caring, reliable, and clearly loves animals. Our dog was so happy and well looked after, and the updates gave us real peace of mind. Would highly recommend!”

“My 12 week old puppy stayed with Shadia for the day and she had the best time!! Shadia updated us regularly with photos, videos and it was sooo nice to know exactly what my puppy was upto while we were busy. My puppy also really enjoyed spending time with Shadias dog, and I felt it was really good for her socialisation too! If we are ever back in Southampton and require dog sitting, Shadia will be the first person I call!”

“We needed someone locally to board our dog Darwin for one day/night at short notice and fortunately Hugo was available. When we dropped off Darwin we new straight away that he would be well looked after. We would definitely use Hugo again.”

“I booked Kinghei to look after my dog Lily for 5 days and I couldn't be happier with the experience! Lily is quite a lively and mischievous dog, so I was honestly a little worried — but Kinghei handled her brilliantly. She was well looked after, taken on regular walks, and clearly in great hands the whole time. It really put my mind at ease. Thank you so much, and I wish you all the best in your pet-sitting journey!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

About: Hi, I’m Sophie! My partner George and I recently bought our first home in Eastleigh, and we’re both huge dog lovers. While our work commitments mean we can’t have a dog of our own right now, we’d love to help others by providing caring and reliable dog walking and sitting services. I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life, from a Border Collie to a Lhasa Apso/Yorkie mix, and now a lovely litte Poochon. I’m very used to grooming needs and making sure coats are well cared for. I also regularly help care for family dogs, including Labradors, so I’m confident with both small and large breeds. Having experienced every stage of a dog’s life, I’m comfortable caring for energetic puppies as well as giving extra patience, attention, and love to older dogs. I work full-time across four days a week, which means I’m fully available on Tuesdays and weekends. On my days off, your dog will have my full attention. I’ll always stick to your routine and make sure your pup feels happy, comfortable, and well cared for—whether that’s during a walk, drop-in visit, or overnight stay. I’m happy to provide as many walks as your dog needs, along with plenty of playtime and attention. They’ll also have access to a secure garden and a safe, dog-friendly home environment. I have a fully fenced, secure garden and plenty of lovely walking routes nearby. I’m also happy to take dogs out in the car for longer walks or new environments if they enjoy that. I always aim to follow your preferences and routine to make sure you feel completely comfortable. My home does have stairs, but these can be safely blocked off if needed. Dogs are welcome to settle in wherever they feel most comfortable. You’re very welcome to bring their bed, crate, blankets, or anything familiar from home. If your dog is used to cuddling up on the sofa, they’ll be more than welcome to do the same here!
“We had never left Peggy before with a sitter, so this was a big deal for us! Caroline was kind, caring and looked after Peggy like she was her own 🥰. Peggy is an elderly pug with mobility issues, Caroline wasn’t phased and listened to us about Peggy’s quirks and was so accommodating. 100% recommend and I would use Caroline again if needed. Thank you so much 🤩”

“We recently had Kellie look after our dog for the first time, and we couldn't be happpier with the experience, We received regular updates and photos which reassured us that Peppa was not only safe but happy and well cared for. We will definitely be booking Kellie again highly recommended.”

About: Dogs have always been a huge part of our lives and we’ve both grown up around them. We regularly care for dogs for family and friends and have experience with a range of breeds, ages, sizes and personalities, including rescue dogs who may need extra patience, reassurance and individual care. Pet care fits naturally into our routine as I work from home Monday–Thursday, my toddler attends nursery during the day, and my husband works evenings, meaning dogs will have plenty of company, supervision, walks, playtime and cuddles throughout the day in a calm, loving family home environment. We live in a detached family home with a secure, fully enclosed garden where dogs can safely play and explore. We also have our friendly Cavachon, Theo, who loves other dogs, enjoys walks, naps and playtime, and is very gentle and sociable. Dogs staying with us would be treated as part of the family, with plenty of supervision, affection, exercise and care tailored to their individual needs in a calm, safe and loving environment.
“We left our nine-month staffy Islay overnight with Jo and she had a fantastic time. I was a bit nervous to leave her but Jo was incredibly kind. A few days beforehand she met us for a walk to see how Islay is getting on with everyone. Islay absolutely adored staying overnight with Jo’s family and her dog. She had a blast playing and getting all the attention. They even included Islay in their weekend plans and she spent loads of time outdoors with the whole family. I received regular updates from Jo and I felt so relaxed knowing she was happy and enjoying herself. I’ll definitely be leaving Islay with Jo again in the future. This was such a positive experience and I’m thoroughly happy. I can’t recommend Jo and her family highly enough.”

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
