“Clare looked after our dog Casper for a night. Excellent communication before and during his stay. His needs were totally met, no easy feat considering he is on a diet trial currently and not allowed anything treats or snacks. Would totally recommend!”

“Found Christine at the last minute as our regular sitter was unavailable. Could not fault Christine in any way. Our dog came back from her week long visit full of vitality and had even been bathed and groomed following a muddy outing!”

“What a delightful, warm lady. Nothing was too much trouble. Kept me informed even though only had intermittent Internet. Boy clearly happy ad when we needed to return to collect his bed ge actually wanted to go back in and initially was refusing to come off the drive, even when door closed. Recommend without hesitation. Would score higher if I could”

About: I am fully insured and have been caring for dogs for more than 15 years, loving every minute of it. Although I’m new to Rover, I’ve spent many years looking after my own dogs and understand how important it is to keep them happy, safe and comfortable. I currently have two friendly dogs who are a big part of my family. Archie is 3 years old, and Lottie is the newest member of our family at just 1 year and 2 months old. They are both spayed and extremely friendly with other dogs. If your dog enjoys company, they’ll have two lovely playmates to spend the day with, whether that’s playing in the garden, going for walks, or simply relaxing together. Looking after Archie and Lottie has given me daily experience with feeding, walking, playtime, grooming, and making sure dogs feel safe, comfortable and loved. I understand that every dog has its own personality and routine, so I’ll always follow your instructions to help them feel at home. I know how difficult it can be to leave your dog with someone new, which is why I’ll care for them as if they were my own. I’ll also send regular photo and video updates, so you can see how they’re getting on and enjoy peace of mind while you’re away. My goal is simple: to provide a safe, loving and happy home where your dog will receive plenty of attention, affection and care until you’re back together. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because I work from home, which gives me the flexibility to provide plenty of attention and care throughout the day. During your dog’s stay, I’ll be at home with them, so they won’t be left alone. My own dogs are my priority every day, and I plan my routine around feeding times, walks, playtime and making sure they get the exercise they need. Living close to the beach and several lovely parks means I can take the dogs on enjoyable walks in different places, depending on their needs and your preferences. Because Archie and Lottie already have a regular routine, it’s easy to welcome another dog into our day. If your dog enjoys the company of other dogs, they’ll have two friendly playmates to spend the day with. There will be plenty of time for play, cuddles, rest and companionship, so they always feel loved and cared for. I’ll also send regular photo and video updates, so you can see how they’re getting on and have complete peace of mind while you’re away. Your dog’s safety and happiness will always come first. Before every stay, I’ll ask about their routine, feeding schedule, exercise needs, any medications, and anything else that helps them feel comfortable. I’m also happy to arrange a meet and greet before booking. This gives you and your dog the chance to visit my home, meet me, Archie and Lottie, and make sure everyone feels comfortable before the stay. My home is clean, safe and dog friendly, and I always supervise dogs while they’re together to make sure everyone is happy and getting along. Archie and Lottie are both very friendly and enjoy meeting other dogs, but I’ll always introduce them calmly and at their own pace. I’ll follow your dog’s usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding times, walks and any special instructions. Dogs will always have fresh water, a comfortable place to rest, plenty of love and attention, and regular toilet breaks throughout the day. I’ll also send regular photos and videos, so you can relax knowing your dog is safe, happy and well cared for while you’re away.
“Absolutely lovely couple. Charlie felt right at home and got pampered with lots of walks, treats and cuddles. 100% will be looking to stay again. Thank you so much for taking care of him at short notice.”

About: We've had cocker spaniels in our family for around 18 years. Our 2 dogs lived a happy life with lots of walks locally in Whiteley and many trips to the beach for a run around and a swim. They lived until they were old ladies (14 &15). Our daughters have 3 dogs between them, who come to visit us a lot and this is their second home. We love having them around (2 cocker spaniels and a staffie). Your dog will get walks in the nearby woods/paths and plenty of time in our secure garden. Trips further afield at the weekends too if your dog is happy to travel in the car. If not, Whiteley has a lot of options for exercise. I work from home most of the week as does my husband Brian. There will always be one of us here for your dog throughout the day and night. Your dog will be a part of our family life and it will be our pleasure to look after them. I work from most most of the time, as does my husband. Your dogs will get an early morning walk and will have attention throughout the day. We have a large enclosed garden where they can play and snooze. Walks in the evening too and they will be free to enjoy the family home. Our garden is enclosed and side gate will be locked when dogs are at home with us. Our family have dogs and they may well visit when your dogs are here with us.
About: What sets us apart is that we offer a genuine home-from-home environment where pets are treated as part of the family. As a retired couple, we have the time, patience, and flexibility to give each dog plenty of attention, companionship, and care throughout the day. Having grown up on a farm and lived with animals for most of our lives, we understand that every pet has its own personality and routine. We take the time to get to know each dog and follow the owner's instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, exercise, and any medication or special requirements. We know how important it is for owners to feel confident while they are away, so we're happy to provide regular updates and photos. Our aim is to ensure every dog feels safe, relaxed, and loved, giving owners complete peace of mind. We will only take one dog at a time so every dog receives plenty of individual attention, playtime, walks and cuddles. As I am retired and my wife works part time, we have a flexible schedule that allows us to dedicate plenty of time and attention to the pets in our care. We have a lovely dog called Bisca who is a huge part of our family and gives us so much fun - she loves her daily walks, cuddles and running for the ball. In the past we have looked after friends dogs and Bisca loves the companionship. Our daily routine is home-based, so we can provide regular walks, feeding, playtime, companionship, and plenty of supervision throughout the day. We enjoy spending time with animals and can easily adapt our routine to meet each pet's individual needs, whether that's sticking to a regular walking schedule, administering medication if required, or simply providing company and affection while their owners are away. We understand that every pet has its own personality, routine, and needs, so we always aim to provide care that is as close as possible to what they are used to at home. Before each booking, we like to meet the owner and their pet to discuss feeding routines, exercise, medication, sleeping arrangements, and any special requirements. This also gives everyone the opportunity to get to know each other and ensure it's a good fit. When caring for pets in our home, we provide a safe, calm, and comfortable environment with plenty of attention, companionship, regular walks, playtime, and affection. Our garden is fully fenced off so any pets can run carefree. We carefully follow each owner's instructions regarding feeding, medication, exercise, and daily routines. We treat every dog as if it were our own, making sure they feel relaxed, secure, and loved while they are with us. We are also happy to send regular updates and photos, so owners can enjoy their time away knowing their pet is in safe and caring hands.

About: My husband and I are huge animal lovers, and caring for pets is something we genuinely enjoy. We recently lost our beloved dog, Maya, who was part of our family for 17 years, so we understand how important it is to leave your pet with someone you can trust. We’re quite experienced at looking after both dogs and cats and always treat them as if they were our own. As I currently have plenty of time at home, your dog will enjoy at least two walks a day, lots of playtime, cuddles, and companionship throughout the day. We always follow your pet’s usual routine to help them feel safe, happy, and relaxed. We also have a secure, fenced green garden where dogs can safely play and enjoy fresh air. Our home is spacious, with a large living room that gives plenty of room for relaxing, stretching out, and feeling comfortable indoors. You’ll always be able to reach me, and I’m happy to send regular updates and photos so you can enjoy your time away with complete peace of mind. I also hold an enhanced DBS check for additional reassurance. We’d love to welcome your pet into our home and give them all the love, care, and attention they deserve. I’m normally a teacher, but I’m currently on my school holiday, so I have a very flexible schedule and plenty of time to dedicate to pet care. I’m home most of the day, which means your pet will receive lots of attention, company, and regular care rather than being left alone for long periods. I can easily adapt to their usual routine, whether that’s walks, feeding times, playtime, or simply keeping them company. I know how important it is for pets to feel safe and comfortable, I always take the time to learn about their usual routine, feeding schedule, exercise needs, favourite toys, and any special requirements so I can keep things as familiar as possible. In my home, pets will have a clean, calm, and secure environment with plenty of attention and companionship. We also have a secure garden where dogs can enjoy time outside under supervision. I carefully make sure your pet stays happy, comfortable, and stress-free. I treat every pet as if they were my own and always put their safety and wellbeing first.

We rebooked Clare as soon as we knew the date for my dad’s wedding, after Abel’s long stay in December went so well, it was a no brainer. Abel was so excited to see Clare and her daughter and made himself straight at home. Clare kept us updated with photos and it was lovely to see how comfortable and happy he was in her company after a little while between holidays! Again, Clare, we can’t thank you enough for the care you give our boy xx

Thank you Pauline for looking after Liz and Jack. You made it very easy for us knowing that are dogs were happy and safe. You kept us up to date with anything we needed to know and made it easy for collection after the 6hrs delay with the air craft. I would recommend your service to anybody. Looking forward to next year holidays knowing the dogs have a safe and local place to stay at. Again thank you from Dave, Mandy, Lizzy and Jack x

Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
