“Sophie kept us updated throughout our pups stay with her. Lots of beautiful pictures and reassurance that they were absolutely fine and in excellent hands. When we picked the girls up you could instantly tell how much they had warmed to her, so much so that Dottie laid on her back for more belly rubs from Sophie rather than us 😂. Their family dog Theo is so friendly and welcoming to new doggies in his house and it’s lovely that when we go away now, not only do our dogs have human company, they also have another 4 legged friend to play with! Will definitely be using Sophie for all our future boardings and would recommend people to do the same.”

“Hi Monica, thank you so much for looking after my dog. I am so glad because I choose you to stay with my dog. Rex spent lovely time with you and my Rex was very happy. I strongly recommend Monica. 🥰🦮❤️”

“Shadia took my beagle boy Uno overnight and he had a brilliant time. As anyone who knows the breed will tell you, beagles aren’t the easiest! But Shadia was great with him, regularly sending pictures and giving me updates on how he was getting on. Uno also got on brilliantly with Shadia’s retriever, Skye (who is absolutely lovely) and they clearly played endlessly. He came home the next day and went straight into nap mode! Can thoroughly recommend Shadia and will use her services again in future. 😊”

“We had our Jack Russell stay with Lauren for a little under 2 weeks, Lauren kept us updated with pics and how our dog was doing everyday. Cannot fault Lauren and will be booking with her again very shortly. Very pleased, thank you Lauren!”

“What a brilliant experience we had with Eleanor and Raymond. This was the first time we have left our very high energy, crazy Labrador over night and he absolutely loved it. Both Eleanor and Raymond were so good with him. They took time to understand his needs and make it the most positive experience. Nothing seemed to faze them and it's very easy to see how much they love having dogs around. We feel incredibly lucky to have found them and Rosso is looking forward to more adventures with them.”

“Ellie gave us real confidence that our dog was in safe hands. The way she manages her own dog is exactly how we would expect. Her dog was very friendly and seemed at ease having a guest dog in the house.. She listened to my pet parent fears and was prepared for everything. 100% recommend!”

“I cannot recommend Stephanie highly enough. During Crystal’s week-long stay we had daily updates and beautiful photos. Crystal looked very relaxed and happy in all of them, which is so reassuring when you’re away from your fur baby! Crystal is an elderly little lady who has regular medication several times a day. Stephanie took all this in her stride, and clearly adores dogs. Crystal was very relaxed and happy when we collected her - she’d clearly had a ball - walks, cuddles and lots of love ❤️”

“We recently had Kellie look after our dog for the first time, and we couldn't be happpier with the experience, We received regular updates and photos which reassured us that Peppa was not only safe but happy and well cared for. We will definitely be booking Kellie again highly recommended.”

“Lovely caring family. We felt that Rupert was in very good hands while we were away on holiday, and he was made really welcome and given a lot of love and attention. We were kept informed of how he was doing with photos and videos. I'm pretty confident he had a fun time.”

“Our dog Poppy has found her 2nd home! She had an absolutely wonderful stay with Ronald and wants to go back for tummy tickles. We were kept informed of how she had settled in and never had any doubts or concerns. Thanks so much! Lynne”

“First time away from home, and siblings Dougal and Daisy (18 months) landed on their feet with Louise C and family. She settled them both quickly and efficiently to help them adapt to to new surroundings. We hope next time will be even easier.”

“Caroline was brilliant. She kept us updated with how Ralphie was whilst we were away. Her home is welcoming and very dog friendly. We could relax knowing he was in safe hands. We would 100% recommend Caroline and will definitely use her services again. Ralphie was very well cared for. Thank you again to Caroline.”

About: I have grown up around animals and have owned a variety. I’ve had the likes of dogs, hamsters and guinea pigs just to name a few. Most recently I have owned a pug and currently live with a golden retriever. I have a lot of knowledge about flat faced breeds and know how to best care for them. Equally I have a lot of knowledge around other breeds particularly smaller ones. I have looked after friends and my families dogs when they have gone away. I have the ability to go to their houses so that their dogs stay in their own environment that’s familiar. I have also had dogs come and stay with me too. I regularly look after my friends dog when she goes to work making sure that her dog is well looked after. I have a lot of free time at the moment being in between jobs so am very flexible with my availability. I will work around what’s best for you and your pet. I will care for your pet as if it was my own. At my house dogs are allowed on the furniture and on the beds so they can have a proper cuddle. I have three beds in the house with room for their own bed if required. I have a fully enclosed garden with a 7ft fence. I also have an open field across the road and a woodlands the other side with running water. I will make sure to feed your dog as many times as needed throughout the time they are with me. There are two fresh water bowls throughout the house and one in the back garden as well so that there is always access to water. I usually keep my back door open throughout the summer time so that Olive (my friends dog) can go in and out when she pleases, as well as her swimming pool under the shade of a giant canopy. If you would like me to sit in your own home I will treat it with the upmost respect. I like to keep things clean and tidy and will leave your home as I came into it. Leave no trace.
“We couldn’t be more pleased with Lynn, and Reggie couldn’t have felt more at home. Thank you so much for making him feel so welcome and settled in your home. We will be using Lynn to care for Reggie again and would highly recommend her!”

“I was anxious about leaving my two dogs with Carmen for the weekend, but she offered to keep me updated by phone. On the Sunday morning she texted me to see if she could take the dogs to the beach - how great is that? A run and a swim on a boiling hot day, perfect! I am happy that they are booked in for Christmas as I know they will be well looked after. Thanks.”

About: Hi, I’m Sophie! My partner George and I recently bought our first home in Eastleigh, and we’re both huge dog lovers. While our work commitments mean we can’t have a dog of our own right now, we’d love to help others by providing caring and reliable dog walking and sitting services. I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life, from a Border Collie to a Lhasa Apso/Yorkie mix, and now a lovely litte Poochon. I’m very used to grooming needs and making sure coats are well cared for. I also regularly help care for family dogs, including Labradors, so I’m confident with both small and large breeds. Having experienced every stage of a dog’s life, I’m comfortable caring for energetic puppies as well as giving extra patience, attention, and love to older dogs. I work full-time across four days a week, which means I’m fully available on Tuesdays and weekends. On my days off, your dog will have my full attention. I’ll always stick to your routine and make sure your pup feels happy, comfortable, and well cared for—whether that’s during a walk, drop-in visit, or overnight stay. I’m happy to provide as many walks as your dog needs, along with plenty of playtime and attention. They’ll also have access to a secure garden and a safe, dog-friendly home environment. I have a fully fenced, secure garden and plenty of lovely walking routes nearby. I’m also happy to take dogs out in the car for longer walks or new environments if they enjoy that. I always aim to follow your preferences and routine to make sure you feel completely comfortable. My home does have stairs, but these can be safely blocked off if needed. Dogs are welcome to settle in wherever they feel most comfortable. You’re very welcome to bring their bed, crate, blankets, or anything familiar from home. If your dog is used to cuddling up on the sofa, they’ll be more than welcome to do the same here!
“Ananda was absolutely amazing with our Shih Tzu, Mollie. She’s an anxious little dog and doesn’t like being away from us, but Ananda’s love for dogs really shone through. She took extra care with Mollie’s weaker back legs and hips, even taking her out in a stroller so she could still enjoy her walks. We had daily updates that gave us peace of mind, and when we picked Mollie up she was clean, happy, and so well looked after. Ananda truly went above and beyond — highly recommend!”

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
