Rachael is a very friendly and approachable person with a bubbly personality. She paid close attention to every detail, including asking about allergies and my dog’s specific needs. The accommodation was welcoming and well prepared, and I really appreciated receiving regular photos showing how my dog was spending their time. I was very happy with the level of care provided and would happily recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy pet sitter!

I can’t recommend Sam highly enough! He took amazing care of my Golden Retriever, Rio, and went above and beyond to ensure she felt at home. From regular updates to extra attention and care, Sam made sure Rio was happy, comfortable, and well looked after. She came back to me relaxed and content, which speaks volumes about the quality of care Sam provided. I’m grateful for the extra touches, like providing her food when I’d forgotten to send her supplies. I’ll definitely be using Sam’s services again in the future. Five stars all around—thank you, Sam!

Maria and her husband have been brilliant with my Susie these last two days - it’s been hot and they have catered to Susie’s needs so kindly. It meant I could go and help family and not worry about my girl. I especially loved receiving the photos of Susie looking so relaxed and happy. Lovely people who really love the dogs they care for. Will definitely use again :)

Katrina could not have been any more attentive towards our two dogs. She showed genuine care for them (they absolutely fell in love with her in the first 10 minutes of meeting her!). She provided regular updates and photos of how the dogs were doing whilst we were away. She also let us add an extra day at very short notice which was very helpful. I couldn’t recommend her enough and we will be booking her to look after our dogs in the future with no hesitation!

About: Hi I'm Zara! I’m a Personal Trainer and love going for walks at the beach most days. I adore dogs and love to say hello to all the fury friends I meet on my walks. I’ve grown up with dogs all my life from a sheep dog/collie and a Staffie. I love all bully breeds! I would love to have some 4 legged company for my walks, cuddles and maybe treat them to a pup cup! (If they are allowed one) Dogs bring me so much joy and it would be amazing to be part of a dogs day out! I have been a dog sitter for a few friends while they have been away on holiday, and whilst working on a farm in Australia we had working dogs to too after Im currently self employed and work my own hours. Im a PT in a gym and also an online coach so some work is in the gym and some at home. My hours & days are pretty flexible I’m always out for walks most days to keep active I live in a flat, no balcony so dog walking preferably only available service. A small dog would be fine to stay for 1 day or 1 night if needed over if non crated and is happy roaming around on their own. Is house trained also

About: I grew up with dogs and my oldest dog was born in my bedroom along with 10 of her siblings! She was beautiful and 16years old when she became the angel she always was. I work full time but available on weekends for boarding. Dogs are allowed at my work place so I can do weekdays if your dog is comfortable around other dogs. I have a fenced garden and plenty open green space in my area. My house is open plan layout which gives plenty of space to play fetch for a small pup. I have trained my dogs in the past so can do it if you want me to.

David kept us updated throughout our holiday with photos and updates, which is exactly what you want for your fur baby. Having him in the comfort of someone's home as opposed to the kennels, we feel gives our dog a better experience. It's the first time using boarding and we would highly recommend David and his wife Suzy. Thank you.

Klaudia was amazing. So quick to respond and organise. It was the first time we’ve left our dog with a stranger. She’s an Australian Kelpie that loves long long long walks and games. She had the absolute best time with Klaudia and we were updated with lovely picture and messages throughout. Will 100% be booking guide. The dog can’t wait to go back!

Storm had an amazing 4 days with Charlotte and family! Was a last minute booking & Charlotte said yes straight away. I was sent regular updates, photos & videos which all the family loved to see. Storm honestly had the time of her life. (I’m sure she was also trained a little, as now storm doesn’t pull so hard on lead) I’d forgotten to pack a few things (only realised when I came back home) but Charlotte never let storm go without. Many thanks, any holiday’s I will for sure be booking with you.

FAQs for Dog Boarding - Christchurch

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Boarding in Christchurch on Rover is £39.1 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Boarding easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Boarding. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of June 2026, there are 710 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across Christchurch. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
