“Coco came home happy, relaxed, and probably wondering when he gets to visit Hanna again! 😄 Great communication, plenty of updates, and fantastic care throughout. Highly recommend!”

“This is the first time our dog has stayed overnight since losing her partner in crime to old age, so we were cautious about who we chose. We have visited a few other hopefuls, but our dog would shake with fear at the thought of even going into another house, no reflection on the supplier, just our timid dog. When we visited Rachel, we were expecting the same reaction. So when our dog literally bounded into the house and made herself at home, there was a mixture of surprise and relief! Don't know what it is, but our dog was completely at ease within seconds! We found Rachel to be personable, thoughtful and super considerate. We had the opportunity to then book our dog in for a few days before the longer stay planned later in the year, and I'm not sure our dog wanted to leave at the end of it!! We were sent daily photo's and updates, so knew our dog was happy. I can confidently state that Rachel has a way with dogs and would trust her with our dog at the drop of a hat!”

“Katrina could not have been any more attentive towards our two dogs. She showed genuine care for them (they absolutely fell in love with her in the first 10 minutes of meeting her!). She provided regular updates and photos of how the dogs were doing whilst we were away. She also let us add an extra day at very short notice which was very helpful. I couldn’t recommend her enough and we will be booking her to look after our dogs in the future with no hesitation!”

“Between Sophie and I we had good communication, she sent lots of update messages and George seemed tired when he came home. Ours was an overnight stay, dropping off on Saturday and collecting on Sunday, George seemed very happy to be left in Sophie's care.”

“Absolutely fantastic! Karen is clearly very good at reading dogs and puts a lot of effort into making sure they are settled and happy. She understood my dog completely and Pixie's behaviour when I collected her told me everything I needed to know; she was happy and relaxed. Great with a small dog and a very safe home environment. Also brilliant communication with me throughout, she really listened and took on board information as well as giving great feedback on collection.”

“Thankyou so much , Bella had a wonderful time with this family and got on well with the other dogs. I would thoroughly recommend them to look after your dog . David and Suzie and the kids were really welcoming . Will definitely be using them again .”

“Super responsive and a true dog lover. Absolutely the only person I trust with my 2 crazy English Bull Terriers. Even had them sleeping in the same bed, they are an old married couple so no easy feat! They are both very different characters and you catered for thier every need. Would not trust ANYONE else to look after my dogs. Thanks Ben (and Steve of course!) For taking such good care of the crazy twins! You are the best!! Xx”

“Angela and her family looked after my dog Captain for the weekend and did an amazing job. He seemed to settle with them well and enjoyed his time with the family. Angela sent over plenty of updates and photos and was really quick to reply to messages. A huge thank you from myself and Captain (aka Pirate)”

“Angelika was fantastic. She was available shorr notice, accomodating of delays due to traffic and our dog settled really quick and had a great time. Angelika kept us updated with plenty of pics and videos and would highly recommend her.”

“Amy took great care of Ernie whilst we went away, she sent us regular updates and he seemed to enjoy his variety of walks and having the companionship of Poppy. We would definitely book Amy again to look after Ernie.”

“Theo had a wonderful time staying with Aga. He settled straight in, loved the garden and playing fetch! Then enjoyed cuddles on the sofa 🐶 Aga is super friendly, quick to respond and kept me updated throughout with photos. Theo can’t wait to stay again.”

“Loki had a great weekend with Annabelle. She took him out for walks despite not feeling very well and was always kind and responsive. He came home happy and healthy.”

“Sammy provided a loving home for my rescue dog whilst we away. She sent updates every day, and in the pictures my dog looked very happy! Next time we need dog sitting, we will definitely be using Sammy!”

“Wendy was incredibly kind to my little rescue dog, Buddy. She cared for him like a prince. I couldn’t ask for more. She has a lovely home and garden and is experienced with animals.”

“Our 14 month old cockapoo had a wonderful time with Amy. He can be a bit clingy but he settled really quickly after I left and was super excited to show me the toys he’d been playing with when I picked him up. I’ve already booked a couple more stays with Amy and there will be more!”

Storm had an amazing 4 days with Charlotte and family! Was a last minute booking & Charlotte said yes straight away. I was sent regular updates, photos & videos which all the family loved to see. Storm honestly had the time of her life. (I’m sure she was also trained a little, as now storm doesn’t pull so hard on lead) I’d forgotten to pack a few things (only realised when I came back home) but Charlotte never let storm go without. Many thanks, any holiday’s I will for sure be booking with you.

Amy & Iain looked after our 9 year old female boxer for 8 days. Their care was outstanding and they sent us pictures on a regular basis which was lovely. They have a 12 year old dog Ruby who is very sweet and she got on with our dog really well. We would definitely use them again.

Katrina was a lovely dog boarder for our furry girl. She went above and beyond to make our dog feel safe and welcomed in what were rather unsettling circumstances, and her communication to give us updates was excellent. It was only a short stay, but I highly recommend Katrina based on our experience.

Leonie was so helpful and caring. Everything from the point of booking was very easy and professional. She even went the extra mile to help pick up and drop off our dog. Leonie provided photos through the entire stay and made sure our dog received all the attention she needed. Will definitely be using her again. Highly recommend!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
