“Theo had a wonderful time staying with Aga. He settled straight in, loved the garden and playing fetch! Then enjoyed cuddles on the sofa 🐶 Aga is super friendly, quick to respond and kept me updated throughout with photos. Theo can’t wait to stay again.”

“Sam looked after our bulldog Bruno for two nights and he was great with keeping in contact, as well sending photos of him settled. Will be booking again in the future when we need a sitter! Thank you ☺️”

“Super responsive and a true dog lover. Absolutely the only person I trust with my 2 crazy English Bull Terriers. Even had them sleeping in the same bed, they are an old married couple so no easy feat! They are both very different characters and you catered for thier every need. Would not trust ANYONE else to look after my dogs. Thanks Ben (and Steve of course!) For taking such good care of the crazy twins! You are the best!! Xx”

“Hanna and her family were lovely, caring and just simply awesome!! We received regular, timely updates and Diamond had a whale of a time playing with them and their lovely, friendly little dog, Rocky. Diamond would definitely, 100% love to stay again and is already missing his new best friend Rocky!! Thanks so much for taking such great care of him.”

“Very happy thay I booked my dog Lolly in wit Tashmeet :) The host is very kind and friendly. My dog was instantly comfortable with her and I could tell that she was very happy. Thank you Tashmeet :)”

“We were really pleased with the service Wendy provided while looking after our Springer Spaniel, Bella, for four nights. Bella was extremely well cared for and came home happy and well rested. It gave us real peace of mind knowing she was in such good hands. Highly recommended!”

“Maria looked after our dog, Bronson, from 11/06/2026 to 28/06/2026, and we couldn't have been happier with the care she provided. From the very beginning, Maria's communication was exceptional. She sent regular, detailed updates throughout Bronson's stay, along with lots of photos, which gave us complete peace of mind and allowed us to see how happy and settled he was. Bronson settled in incredibly quickly and was clearly made to feel like part of the family. It was obvious that Maria genuinely cared for him and took the time to understand his needs. As Bronson is currently recovering from an ongoing injury, Maria was fantastic at supporting him with short, slow walks and ensuring he wasn't overdoing it, while still getting the exercise and attention he needed. It was wonderful to know that he was being cared for in such a loving and attentive environment. We returned to a happy, relaxed dog, which says everything about the quality of care he received. We would highly recommend Maria to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and professional dog sitter, and we will absolutely be using her services again in the future. Thank you, Maria, for taking such amazing care of Bronson! 🐾❤️”

“Cooper loved his stay with Rachael. She sent me plenty of photos and updates so I could relax knowing that he was happy and having lots of fun with the other doggies. Will definitely book again.”

“Charlotte looked after our 2 small dogs for 10 days and the dogs loved their stay. The dogs were well looked after and were spoilt by Charlotte and her family with lots of cuddles and walks. Charlotte sent photos every day and the dogs had a large safe garden to play in. We will certainly be booking again with Charlotte and would recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and safe holiday home for their pet.”

“Communication was great—daily updates with photos gave us total peace of mind. Our dog came back happy, calm, and clearly well cared for. We will 100% book Sophie again and recommend her to anyone.”

“Amy took great care of Ernie whilst we went away, she sent us regular updates and he seemed to enjoy his variety of walks and having the companionship of Poppy. We would definitely book Amy again to look after Ernie.”

About: Hi I'm Zara! I’m a Personal Trainer and love going for walks at the beach most days. I adore dogs and love to say hello to all the fury friends I meet on my walks. I’ve grown up with dogs all my life from a sheep dog/collie and a Staffie. I love all bully breeds! I would love to have some 4 legged company for my walks, cuddles and maybe treat them to a pup cup! (If they are allowed one) Dogs bring me so much joy and it would be amazing to be part of a dogs day out! I have been a dog sitter for a few friends while they have been away on holiday, and whilst working on a farm in Australia we had working dogs to too after Im currently self employed and work my own hours. Im a PT in a gym and also an online coach so some work is in the gym and some at home. My hours & days are pretty flexible I’m always out for walks most days to keep active I live in a flat, no balcony so dog walking preferably only available service. A small dog would be fine to stay for 1 day or 1 night if needed over if non crated and is happy roaming around on their own. Is house trained also
“Such a lovely sitter! Would recommend :) Lots of big walks, photos and updates sent and made our pups feel like they were at home (even sneaking into their bed) Thank you Karen x”

“Betty and Wilma have just had six days with Candice and family. We were amazed at how quick the dogs settled, especially Wilma as it was her first time going to a sitter. They both thoroughly enjoyed the time with Candice and co - was evident from the pics and videos that Candice sent us of which we were happy to receive. Would not hesitate for the girls to holiday there again and would recommend Candice in an heart beat. It is comforting knowing we have found a sitter we can use again.”

“This was Izzy's first stay with Calvin and Pointer Obi. She has not been left with a sitter for a couple of years and I was worried. Calvin was reassuring and sent photos during the day. It was clear she was settled and happy when I picked her up. Calvin has replied to all messages quickly and it is clear he loves dogs. We have already booked Izzy in for a weekend stay and will use him for holidays in the future.”

“Ruth is everything you could hope for from a dog sitter and more. Very patient, kind, caring and understanding approach and great at communicating. Great experience, would highly recommend and so would my 15 year old partially blind and deaf little dog!”

“We’ve used Katrina now several times and our dogs love her. She is kind and considerate, giving our dogs a lot of care and attention. She is now our go to dog sitter for as long as she still provides this service. Could not recommend more!”

“Ellie gave us real confidence that our dog was in safe hands. The way she manages her own dog is exactly how we would expect. Her dog was very friendly and seemed at ease having a guest dog in the house.. She listened to my pet parent fears and was prepared for everything. 100% recommend!”

“Bronson absolutely loves staying with David! The communication is always excellent, with regular updates and plenty of pictures that really put our minds at ease. It’s clear how much care and attention David gives because Bronson gets so excited the moment he realizes where he’s going! Thank you so much, for always going above and beyond. I couldn’t ask for a better sitter reliable, caring, and truly passionate about dogs. Highly recommended!”

“Stephanie did a great job of looking after Sonny at quite short notice, provided a reassuring update at the end of the first day and demonstrating much appreciated flexibility when our delayed return flight threatened our ability to collect him on time. We will be back!”

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - Christchurch
Charlotte was a life saver. Our usual dog sitter was admitted to hospital and had to cancel our booking last minute. This trip had been planned months in advance, so I was certainly panicking. I contacted Charlotte and she was fortunately available to take my dog in for the time we were away. What a find! She was absolutely amazing. She took such fantastic care of my Roxy. She gave us constant updates and took such great care, especially during the heatwave in England. I really appreciate everything she did and I would highly recommend her. Thank you again Charlotte

Amy & Iain looked after our 9 year old female boxer for 8 days. Their care was outstanding and they sent us pictures on a regular basis which was lovely. They have a 12 year old dog Ruby who is very sweet and she got on with our dog really well. We would definitely use them again.

Leonie was so helpful and caring. Everything from the point of booking was very easy and professional. She even went the extra mile to help pick up and drop off our dog. Leonie provided photos through the entire stay and made sure our dog received all the attention she needed. Will definitely be using her again. Highly recommend!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
