We had never left Matilda with non-family before so were worried but we had a lovely meet with Patri before our booking date and this really put our minds at rest and we knew that Matilda would be well looked after and we had nothing to worry about. Patri asked all the right questions to ensure she gave Tilda the best care. When we left her she was not at all bothered and Patri sent us photos to show she practically went straight to sleep :) Thank you Patri, we certainly enjoyed our event more not worrying about Tilda and knowing she was in good hands,

Clare looked after our dog Luca brilliantly, looking after him in a loving family home. He clearly had a wonderful time with them, and we felt reassured that he was safe, well cared for and given lots of cuddles (his favourite!). Thank you so much, Clare - we will definitely book again and would recommend.

This was the first time Posy, our 14 month old puppy, had stayed away from home with someone she did not know, so we were initially a little apprehensive. Ying kindly arranged a meet and greet in advance of the boarding and this was very successful. She warmly welcomed us into her home and Posy and Trigger, her dog, immediately became friends, so we booked for her to stay for 4 nights. Ying is a really efficient, kind, lovely person who continually kept us updated with messages, photos and videos of Posy during her stay. She looked after her wonderfully well and treated her as part of her family. She took her for lovely long walks in the forest with Trigger. We were, therefore, able to enjoy our holiday because we knew Posy was both safe and happy. We returned to a very content puppy. We will definitely be returning. Thank you.

It was a perfect 1st stay away from home. Millie was made very welcome and Aga helped her to settle and maintained her routine. Aga couldn't have been more accommodating or caring and her updates with regular photos showing Millie happy and enjoying herself were very reassuring. A great dog minder that I will use again and would be happy to recommend.

Ruth and her family took such great care of Baxter for us. He’s a very energetic dog and Ruth took him for some lovely walks and made him feel like part of their family. Their house and garden are very dog friendly and secure and they have access to some lovely areas for walks.

Niels and Tanya took amazing care of Nala! From the first meet & greet to the moment I picked her up. They sent incredible pictures of the adventures they went on (exactly what a dog like Nala needs!) and she came home happy, content and relaxed. I won’t hesitate to book again, thank you!

We were very nervous as this was our first time using outside help but on our first meet and greet, we knew straight away that Nala was going to fit right in with Angela and her family, Nala seemed right at home.playing with the children in the garden. Angela reassured us and updated us with photos and she went above and beyond to cater for Nala’s every needs. We have rebooked Angela again

Antoinette took such wonderful care of my dog Nina. She and her partner are so gentle and kind, and I could tell Nina felt completely at ease. I really appreciated the thoughtful updates and photos while I was away as they gave me such peace of mind. When I picked Nina up, she was happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. I am so grateful to have found Antoinette and Nina will be staying with her regularly in the future :-) xx

Maria looked after our dog, Bronson, from 11/06/2026 to 28/06/2026, and we couldn't have been happier with the care she provided. From the very beginning, Maria's communication was exceptional. She sent regular, detailed updates throughout Bronson's stay, along with lots of photos, which gave us complete peace of mind and allowed us to see how happy and settled he was. Bronson settled in incredibly quickly and was clearly made to feel like part of the family. It was obvious that Maria genuinely cared for him and took the time to understand his needs. As Bronson is currently recovering from an ongoing injury, Maria was fantastic at supporting him with short, slow walks and ensuring he wasn't overdoing it, while still getting the exercise and attention he needed. It was wonderful to know that he was being cared for in such a loving and attentive environment. We returned to a happy, relaxed dog, which says everything about the quality of care he received. We would highly recommend Maria to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and professional dog sitter, and we will absolutely be using her services again in the future. Thank you, Maria, for taking such amazing care of Bronson! 🐾❤️

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
