“Thank you Ruth and family. Frankie clearly had a great time and was well looked after. I appreciated the pics also. Hopefully we’ll make it work again in the not too distant future. Anne, Ian & Frankie”

“It was a perfect 1st stay away from home. Millie was made very welcome and Aga helped her to settle and maintained her routine. Aga couldn't have been more accommodating or caring and her updates with regular photos showing Millie happy and enjoying herself were very reassuring. A great dog minder that I will use again and would be happy to recommend.”

“Sue and her husband looked after our 10 month old border terrier for 8 nights. Sue kept us updated with brilliant photos of all the wonderful walks Reg was having and I could see he was loving his time there. I would not hesitate to book with Sue again.”

“Wonderful boarder for our dog 🥰 so grateful for all the care. Dog walks, playtime, cuddles in abundance. Stuck to the dogs home comforts to help her settle in . Loads of pictures to update us on her adventures. We were so grateful. 5 Star boarder. Would hesitate to recommend and use again.”

“Angela and her family looked after my dog Captain for the weekend and did an amazing job. He seemed to settle with them well and enjoyed his time with the family. Angela sent over plenty of updates and photos and was really quick to reply to messages. A huge thank you from myself and Captain (aka Pirate)”

“Samantha and her family where lovely. Would recommend to anybody. So lovely to go away knowing you don't have to worry. I don't think our dog Charlie actually wanted to come home lol”

“Maria and her husband have been brilliant with my Susie these last two days - it’s been hot and they have catered to Susie’s needs so kindly. It meant I could go and help family and not worry about my girl. I especially loved receiving the photos of Susie looking so relaxed and happy. Lovely people who really love the dogs they care for. Will definitely use again :)”

“We had never left Matilda with non-family before so were worried but we had a lovely meet with Patri before our booking date and this really put our minds at rest and we knew that Matilda would be well looked after and we had nothing to worry about. Patri asked all the right questions to ensure she gave Tilda the best care. When we left her she was not at all bothered and Patri sent us photos to show she practically went straight to sleep :) Thank you Patri, we certainly enjoyed our event more not worrying about Tilda and knowing she was in good hands,”

“We are so chuffed to have found Rachel, she is very lovely and caring and our dog Harper has clearly had the best time! Rachel has a lovely home and garden where Harper made herself at home straight away, and we know that she will love to go back time and time again.”

About: March 2026: I’ve been a spaniel owner for 15 years - puppies through to seniors. I’ve had my working cocker, Frankie, since he was 8 weeks old and trained him myself. He’s now 5 and, like most spaniels, loves everyone! I have also looked after friend’s dogs over the last few years. Prior to Frankie, I rescued 2 male american cocker spaniels that had never been socialised. They certainly tested me but I learnt a lot from the experience. As a dog owner, when I’m looking for a sitter myself, I’m looking for someone who is capable, confident and calm. I need to feel a certain energy and know that my dog will be exercised safely and cared for with kindness. I can offer all of this. I can only consider dogs up to 18kg in weight. I work from home for my husband’s business and can manage my own time. My day always starts with walking Frankie, sometimes in Upton Country Park and sometimes Hamworthy park. I’m out for another walk mid afternoon and if weather permits Frankie will spend part of the day mooching around the garden. I’m fine with special requirements and I can accommodate short walks for seniors if required. I have a fully secure, large garden. Also, plenty of space indoors, a large kitchen diner and a utility room. I have a puppy pen and a large crate if required. Frankie has been sleeping in his bed in the corner of my bedroom but my preference would be for him to sleep downstairs if he has a companion.
“Jess and her family provided a safe, secure and loving environment for our Jazz. She was well looked after and Jess updated us with lovely photos while we were away. The adoring look Jazz gave Jess as we prepared to leave and the way she greeted Jess’s partner when he returned to the house, spoke volumes to us. We would happily recommend Jess’s services”

“Joan and Phil were absolutely wonderful with my dog Indi. She was so well looked after in their lovely home and beautiful garden and came back happy and relaxed. I felt completely at ease knowing she was in such caring hands - would highly recommend!”

“Jasmine looked after Frankie for the weekend and was fantastic. Frankie took to her straight away. She kept in touch with us throughout the whole time with updates/pictures, communication was great from start to finish. We’d definitely recommend Jasmine and wouldn’t hesitate to use her again.”

“Tilly, my senior whippet , had a very comfortable stay with Sophie who is so good with her , providing medication and all the attention she needs. Thank you very much and I’m sure that Tilly looks forward to seeing you again soon!”

“Atlas had two amazing weeks with Dawn and Mike. We had lots of photos and updates throughout. We have never felt more at ease on holiday. Thank you so much xx would definitely recommend and will be booking again soon”

“Angelika and her partner were great hosts, made Harry very welcome and sent several photos and videos of his holiday with them. Also made sure the walks were well timed and in accordance with the hot weather. Really delighted and would recommend to anyone.”

We were very pleased with the service Natasha provided looking after out little French Bulldog. Natasha provided us with daily updates and videos. Natasha has a dog and was friendly towards Dotty and i could see that the two dogs became the best of buddies. Natasha is a very kind and considerate lady who gave Dotty the highest of care. I can truely recommend her services !

Another holiday enjoyed knowing that our dog was enjoying her holiday too. I cannot fault Aljona in any way. She has been so accommodating in fitting us in as we wouldn’t want our dog to go anywhere else. Communication superb, lots of pictures and videos. Highly, highly recommend ☺️🤩

I was extremely pleased with how Sue looked after our 6 month puppy, it was his first time staying with Sue, he had a great time, she coped and handled his anxiety about sleeping in a different house really well, and settled in quickly, would thoroughly recommend Sue to look after dogs.

Natalie was brilliant! My booking was very short notice and on my return she was super accommodating when our flights were delayed! Bosun had an amazing time, loved playing with his new friend and plenty of lovely walks and play. Bosun will definitely be staying again. Thanks so much xx

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
