We are so pleased to have found Melanie on Rover.com. She cared for our German Pointer so well and he was clearly very happy and content when we returned to pick him up. Good walks, plenty of fresh air and stimulation. We highly recommend

Good communication and care during the boarding. My dog was never left alone even at night time. Thanks for the treats and the little walk every day!

Our dog stayed at Vikkie’s for over two weeks while we were away. We couldn’t be happier with the whole experience; great communication throughout and getting regular updates and pictures from Vikkie meant that we didn’t worry about Coco one bit. She looked like she had so much fun and came home as a happy dog. Highly recommended! Thank you x

Theo had a wonderful time staying with Aga. He settled straight in, loved the garden and playing fetch! Then enjoyed cuddles on the sofa 🐶 Aga is super friendly, quick to respond and kept me updated throughout with photos. Theo can’t wait to stay again.

Sue was an excellent dog boarder. She has had experience of caring for dogs and my 2 dogs took to her straight away. She was able to send some lovely photos of them whilst I was on holiday which was very reassuring. My dogs Molly and Kim were looked after very well and came home well exercised and happy. I do recommend Sue as a dog boarder.

Linsey was a fantastic host to our Vinnie. It was very appreciated that she hosted for a day prior to a weekly stay, so he could feel settled before (and we could too, first time ever leaving with a dog sitter!). We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Lilly really enjoyed her weekend away! She slept for the rest of the day when arriving home, which is saying a lot for a Jakc Russell puppy! We really appreciate Camila's patience when dealing with a young puppy with so much energy. It's very much appreciated

Thank you so much for looking after our dogs, kept us updated with photos which was so lovely to see how happy & safe they were with such lovely people. (maybe too happy as scooby stole the last bit of your dinner 🤦🏻‍♀️) they even took them on a walk as well which is much appreciated. Can’t thank enough🐾

The moment Bailey walked through the door, he felt at home! Chloe was lovely and friendly, great with communication throughout the booking process and Baileys stay. I had regular updates on how how Bailey was getting on and a lovely photo of him during his stay. He had a great time and I am already booking Chloe for Bailey when we go on holiday in the summer. Thank you. x

Antoinette is truly amazing, our cockapoo Rio took to her instantly and came home happy and relaxed after a week. Antoinette went above and beyond, and was also willing to look after my daughter’s bunny, who equally came home very happy. I can put my whole trust in Antoinette to look after them like they were her own, she is so friendly and kind. I will definitely be a regular customer from now on! Thankyou so much.

Nick and his family looked after our boys so well. We got a lot of pictures while we were away of them on adventures, whether it was on a woodland walk, cuddles in the house or playing ball in an enclosed field so they could be off the lead. It looked like the boys enjoyed their holiday too!

Angela and her family looked after my dog Captain for the weekend and did an amazing job. He seemed to settle with them well and enjoyed his time with the family. Angela sent over plenty of updates and photos and was really quick to reply to messages. A huge thank you from myself and Captain (aka Pirate)

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
