“Jack had a lovely time with Melonie and her furry family. He was well looked after and his needs were met in every way. It was incredibly hot while Jack was with Melonie but she took sensible precautions to ensure that he didn’t overheat and I felt very confident that he was safe in her care and so I could enjoy my holiday.”

“What a lovely couple. My dog has had a fantastic time. He's come home exhausted after a very long walk. From the photos I have been sent, I can see he thoroughly enjoyed his walks. He was welcomed into their home and treated as though he was their own. It was clear to me that they are dog sitting because they love dogs. I am so happy that my dog was so well looked after. Thank you Sam and Katherine x”

“We're so happy we found Ashley! Our little Maltipoo can be a bit anxious, but he seemed so happy, calm, and well cared for when we picked him up. Ashley is incredibly friendly, kind and attentive, and very responsive to messages, even with our last minute booking. We felt completely at ease leaving Beauie with her and would highly recommend Ashley to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter. Thanks so much Ashley!”

“I cannot thank Ellie enough for her care of Skyla. She was immediately treated like one of the family and it was clear from the beautiful photos and videos regularly shared, that Skyla was living her best life with her fellow retrievers, Chester and Cooper. Will definitely rebook in the future if Ellie and Terry will have her - Skyla has found her home from home!”

“Couldn't praise Bridget highly enough, reliable, trustworthy and, above all, kind! Fin had a wonderful stay, his first time away and it was nerve-wracking (for me!). However, I need not have worried, Bridget cared for him like one of her own and Fin made two new friends. I'm sure he'll miss Rocket and I hope they get to have a play-date another time. Better than home from home, 5* mini_break! ❤️”

“Samantha and her family where lovely. Would recommend to anybody. So lovely to go away knowing you don't have to worry. I don't think our dog Charlie actually wanted to come home lol”

“Absolutely fantastic!!! Maisie & Cooper stayed with Trudy whilst we went for a night away in London and they were more than taken care of! Amazing long walks in the fields & forest and a lovely garden for them to roam until their hearts are content! Updated with pics regularly too! Thank you! Will be using Trudy often! 😅”

“Ying and her family were really welcoming and friendly. Cookie settled in right away and got on well with Trigger! We received regular update videos and photos over the weekend. It was nice and reassuring to see that he was being so well looked after. We highly recommend Ying and Cookie is looking forward to his next stay in the near future 😊”

“Thank god for Debbie. From our first meet and greet and how well our dog Buddy took to her, we knew we found a special, trustworthy, genuine person to care for Buddy, whilst we were away. Debbie provided such an excellent service and made sure we were kept updated with messages and photos during Buddy’s stay. And we could tell he was being so well cared for, which in turn made our holiday away more enjoyable as we could properly relax knowing he was so happy and settled. We will definitely be looking to book Debbie for future dog sitting needs. Thank you so much Debbie”

“Thank you Ruth and family. Frankie clearly had a great time and was well looked after. I appreciated the pics also. Hopefully we’ll make it work again in the not too distant future. Anne, Ian & Frankie”

“Thankyou so much for having Barney! You guys went above and beyond for his needs and were stars sending pictures & videos of him while we was on holiday. Thankyou so much (apologies it’s late life’s been so full on since being home)”

“We had never left Matilda with non-family before so were worried but we had a lovely meet with Patri before our booking date and this really put our minds at rest and we knew that Matilda would be well looked after and we had nothing to worry about. Patri asked all the right questions to ensure she gave Tilda the best care. When we left her she was not at all bothered and Patri sent us photos to show she practically went straight to sleep :) Thank you Patri, we certainly enjoyed our event more not worrying about Tilda and knowing she was in good hands,”

“Kate made me feel at ease as soon as I met her. Monty took to her straight away and I wouldn't hesitate to use her services again. She kept me updated with lovely photos of Monty, who looked so happy with her and her Partner . Monty will definitely become a regular visitor !”

“It was a perfect 1st stay away from home. Millie was made very welcome and Aga helped her to settle and maintained her routine. Aga couldn't have been more accommodating or caring and her updates with regular photos showing Millie happy and enjoying herself were very reassuring. A great dog minder that I will use again and would be happy to recommend.”

“Sue was fab! She welcomed our puppy Cooper with open arms and was super easy to communicate with to arrange the date. She took him on some lovely walks and ensured we were kept updated with pics for reassurance. It’s just a shame she lives so far away from us because we would love her as a regular sitter! Would HIGHLY recommend! Thanks Sue!”

“Jess and her family provided a safe, secure and loving environment for our Jazz. She was well looked after and Jess updated us with lovely photos while we were away. The adoring look Jazz gave Jess as we prepared to leave and the way she greeted Jess’s partner when he returned to the house, spoke volumes to us. We would happily recommend Jess’s services”

“We left our 3 year old with Tony for 4 nights, I was a bit concerned as Bandit hadn't met Tony before, but he settled in quickly with Tony's dog. We had some lovely photos to reassure us that he was ok, we will definitely book in with Tony again.”

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
