Having 4 rescue horses and 2 dogs, pet care is a HUGE part of my everyday life. I’m up early and my dogs get their last little toilet break mini walk about 9pm before bed.

I have a fenced garden and I have 4.5 acres beyond that for my rescue horses. My 2 dogs are very friendly and will happily share their beds and toys with visitors. I have a spacious home so can cater for owners with 3 or more dogs. I’m happy to take your dogs out on a walk with us or separately if you prefer. I try and keep your dogs routine fairly similar so as not to stress them. I have a ménage for my horses that I also do some dog agility in if you think your pooch might enjoy trying something new and exciting. I have lots of farmland & wooded areas around so your dogs can keep cool and I NEVER walk dogs in the hottest part of the day or on hot pavements. I am also a member on the National Trust so I am able to walk dogs in their many beautiful places. I have a large kitchen with a tiled floor which my dogs love to keep cool on. I also have a paddle pool for your dog to chill out in if they wish. Your dog will have its own little holiday with me! I am a fully qualified dog groomer so they can even book in for a spa day or a haircut! 🛁🪮🐾🐩✂️

Please do let me know if your dog requires anything to make their stay with me as least stressful as possible. Bring an item of clothing (old t shirt) that has been worn by a family member so your dog has a familiar scent with them. Bring any toys or treats that will help them settle. I like to give people updates and pics of how their pets are doing whilst they are staying with me. Let me know if your dog will be needing any medication whilst they are with me.
A typical day
Most dogs love a good long walk unless they are pups or very senior. I like to stimulate their natural senses by making them sniff around and use their noses. I have a menage for my horses that I can do dog agility in. If you are not happy with your dogs travelling by car, there are many walks around Shaftesbury. If they are happy to travel 10/15 mins by car, there are plenty more walk for us to explore. Evenings are spent curled up with lots of cuddles.

Pet care experience
I’ve had pets all my life starting from the age of 3 when I got my first dog. I have since had many pets rescued and purchased. I currently have 4 rescue horses, 2 dogs and 2 budgies. I don’t think I could survive without animals in my life. 🤣 I have been a dog groomer for 4 years so have done various dog first aid and dog behaviour training. I particularly like working with dogs that don’t cope with being groomed and struggle with life in general. I believe in trying to see the world through your animals eyes to try and understand their behaviour better. All my animals are very well balanced, well behaved and very affectionate and loving. I think that with any animal, “ you get what you put in” Our animals bring us soo much love and happiness . They all deserve the best care possible. I want to give your dog a calm home from home holiday. I love to give you regular pupdate photos and videos on how your fur baby is doing so that you can see how they are getting on. Your dog can also book in for a Full groom, anti anxiety massage or a spa day while they are here! 🐕🦺🛁🧽🪮✂️🐩 I love to do training and stimulation games with all my animals and of course have lots and lots of cuddles. Your dog will receive the same love and care that I give to my own dogs. I really look forward to meeting you and your pooch 🐾🐾

This is our second booking with Melonie and was for an overnight this time. Very responsive communication beforehand and our dog enjoyed the sleepover with other dogs. Highly recommended as a pet sitter. Thanks again Melonie.
It was lovely to have Melonie look after Roobarb for the day in her friendly and spacious home. Roobarb loves being with other dogs, so I knew she would be happy with Melonie's own dogs to play with and I felt totally confident that she would be well looked after and have fun - which she did! Cannot recommend Melonie highly enough.
Melonie is an experienced dog sitter and has her home set up to manage and care for many dogs. She even dropped him back to us the next morning after he slept over :)
