“Kate looked after Olive and Martin for a week and was amazing from start to finish! We had a meetup before the booking to have a chat and see if it would be a good fit for them to stay and I instantly felt it was the right home for them whilst I was away. Kate kept in regular contact and I had lovely photos showing my doggies looking very happy. They were treated like part of the family with top notch care. Would not hesitate to recommend and will be booking again for sure myself...thankyou so much Kate!”

“This was our first time using Rover as our usual house sitter was not available and was unsure whether this way would be suitable or not. The first person we saw on here was Barbara who instantly felt would be a good match for our little Bertie and had high hopes. When Barbara invited us to come and meet her any hesitancy instantly disappeared and definitely had no concerns about leaving him. You just know when someone is a doggy person or not and could just sense any dog left in Barbara’s care would certainly be well looked after. When collecting him yesterday, I felt he enjoyed himself that much that he didn’t want to leave. I am so happy that Bertie has had a great stay and been very well looked after and have no doubts at all that Barbara is the perfect person to look after our Bertie. Just looking at dates when he can stay again and the only downside to all these good reviews is she will get booked up even quicker!”

“Addie was awesome looking after our GSP, Sage. She was prompt and clear in all communication, and clearly has a love of dogs! She sat on our pup for the whole day when we were visiting the area. Sage had never met her before but she was instantly comfortable around Addie. We got picture updates etc throughout the day which was great too.”

“Kirsty and family were really lovely and put our mind at ease right from the meet and greet. We needn’t have worried as our little chihuahua Lucy enjoyed her holiday! (Not sure she missed us at all 😂) Lucy was looked after very well, drop off and collection were good and flexible and we could tell Lucy was in good hands. Kirsty will be our first choice for future trips ❤️”

“Very attentive! Abraham didn’t want to come home and we had to pull him out! Lots of updates and very quick communication. Would definitely book again, thank you so much for caring for him and keeping our minds at ease whilst away 😊”

About: I have been taking care of dogs and cats since I was 13 were I worked in a kennels for 4 years, I have a dog of my own and up until recently a cat as well. I absolutely adore animals and love taking care of them When looking after you furbabies, I will follow their schedule and routine to reduce stress and anxiety, i appreciate being with someone new can sometimes can even be nerve racking for us humans! I do come armed with pockets of treats and lots of fuss and cuddles! I work part time from home, and fit my dogs needs round my working schedule, our dog gets walked once a day mainly after I finished work in the afternoon. At the weekends we try and fit in a walk in a new spot to really run out any energy, if we are unable to make a long walk during the week we often rent out a dog walking field local to us I live in a small home with a secure garden and baby gates for extra security, our dog does have free rein of the house, he is a big softy and loves anything and everything! Any dog that would stay at our house would be separated at night from our dog to ensure maximum safety for everyone.

“"I cannot recommend Cherie enough! We were in a real bind and needed someone to look after our dog at very short notice, and Cherie stepped in to help without hesitation. She took such amazing care of our dog, treating him like one of her own. We were so appreciative of the regular updates and photos she sent throughout the stay, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. If you are looking for someone reliable, kind, and truly attentive, Cherie is the person to call. Highly recommended.”
“Absolutely fantastic!!! Maisie & Cooper stayed with Trudy whilst we went for a night away in London and they were more than taken care of! Amazing long walks in the fields & forest and a lovely garden for them to roam until their hearts are content! Updated with pics regularly too! Thank you! Will be using Trudy often! 😅”

“Andre was great, he is Quick to response to any queries, great rural location with nice big enclosed garden for dogs. Sasha and Ziggy took to him straight away and both loved all the attention, thank you for having them.”

About: I love animals very much, and most of them never refuse petting and treats; for such cases, I always have long artificial nails on my left hand, and treats are kept in my desk drawer. I understand perfectly that every living creature has its own character, interests, and needs, and I am happy to satisfy them. Dogs first appeared in my house about 4 years ago, 2 Labrador mixes, aged 7 and 12. My mom took them from a shelter where we used to volunteer, walking, grooming, and photographing the dogs. In general, we spent time with them in every way possible, helping them socialize and find a home. By that time, I already had 2 cats and 2 rabbits living with me, and we also periodically took in 1-2 cats for treatment or temporary care. Then I moved in with my boyfriend, who has 2 wonderful dogs: a European husky and a Shepherd mix. I spent a lot of time with them since I wasn't working; we walked for at least 4 hours every day. When needed, I bathed and brushed them, never forgetting to treat them with snacks. They would take every free moment to get as close to me as possible so I wouldn't stop petting them. I looked after my friend's cat at his home while he and his wife were on vacation. I followed all recommendations and regularly sent photos and videos of the happy cat. I also occasionally go to help walk dogs and socialize puppies, giving them warmth and attention. Most of the time I spend at home writing a book and drawing, but for that I need inspiration, and every minute that it is absent, I am happy to devote to walks, games, and any other whims of your pet. I would be happy to follow all recommendations for caring for your pet. In case you wish to leave him/her with me, there is a guest sofa, as well as a place for a bed, blanket, or cage if the pet needs one (I do not have my own cage). From the room, there is always access to exit into a fenced garden, and there is also a wonderful park for walks right across from the house. A cat and a rabbit also live with me, but if your pet is not happy with company, I have the possibility to separate them from each other.
“Holly has had Bella our Boston Terrier stay on 2 occasions so far and she will definitely be going again. From the first contact Holly was quick to reply and asked a lot of questions, when we dropped her off you can tell she loves dogs and I really liked the fact the garden is secure and has 2 gates for added 'dog' security. Bella settled in well and we were sent regular updates and photos of walks and Bella curled up asleep on the chair. On the second visit Bella stayed overnight, when we got out of our car she knew where she was going and was very keen to get in to see Holly and her partner. Bella was very happy and slept well when we got home the next evening. Highly recommended. Thanks Holly.”

“Review Victoria and her lovely family are very kind and caring people with an obvious love and passion for all dogs. My dog Harry suffers from anxiety and was dealt with compassion whilst suffering an episode. I would highly recommend Victoria with the knowledge that she is so good at what she does and your dog would be 100% safe in her hands.”

“Josh and Julie were wonderful with Oakley. We couldn’t have been happier with his stay. They kindly send daily updates on his progress, lots of lovely walks and love. Thank you so much. Jo & Peter”

About: I am a reliable and intuitive pet sitter with a lifetime of hands-on experience caring for animals, having grown up with a father who was a vet. From an early age I learned not just the joy of having pets, but the responsibility that comes with properly caring for them - understanding animal behaviour, recognising subtle changes in health or mood, and appreciating the importance of routine and preventative care. Each animal has its own personality and needs, and I take time to build trust and provide calm, consistent care. As a mature and responsible mother, I am organised, dependable and respectful of both homes and routines. I understand how important peace of mind is when leaving a beloved pet, and I am committed to ensuring animals feel safe, well exercised, loved and thoroughly cared for while their owners are away. I work from home and can fit all pet care needs into a relaxed routine that works for your dog. I like to walk in the morning, after breakfast and depending on appetite often have another little perambulation in the afternoon Often it’s better for dogs to be in their own routine at home when their owners are away. Im happy to offer this service and will be with your dog/s for cuddles, feeding, walks and playtime. Please provide any details of routines you like maintained for me to implement. If home sitting doesn’t suit you, I can offer a home boarding service. I have a large home with a fenced garden and lots of fantastic countryside walks direct from my door. I have 2 friendly dogs to keep your pet company but will only take one dog into my home at any one time, so you can be assured they will get lots of love and attention. I am happy to accommodate a crate for your dog to sleep in, if that is their routine, and I am at home during the day for multiple toilet pit-stops and lots of attention.

“Macy was absolutely fantastic with our french bulldog, Bella, while we were away on holiday for six nights. From the moment Bella stayed with her, it was clear how much love, care and attention Macy puts into looking after dogs, and we were so grateful for how warmly she welcomed Bella into her day-to-day family life rather than just “watching” her. She spent time playing with Bella, made sure she felt included and comfortable, and it was obvious that Bella was being treated like one of the family. We also really appreciated the daily updates, which gave us real peace of mind while we were away and showed just how happy and settled Bella was. Macy is kind, caring, thoughtful and clearly loves dogs, and we would not hesitate for a second to recommend her to anyone looking for a genuinely wonderful dog sitter. Thank you Macy for doing such a good job x”

“Donna was excellent and I would definitely trust her to look after my dog again. I really appreciated the updates and photos as it helped put my mind at ease. Thank you for everything!”

You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
